Created by TeamFourStar, this parody series took the already wild world of DBZ and somehow made it even more over-the-top, meme-worthy, and honestly kind of genius. What started as a humble fan project turned into a full-on internet phenomenon with millions of fans, inside jokes galore, and some of the most quotable dialogue on YouTube.

The magic of DBZ Abridged isn't just in the voice acting or the snappy editing. It's in the way it completely reimagines the characters you thought you knew. Goku is still dumb, but now he's dumb with a PhD in idiocy. Vegeta is the angry prince of all sass. And don't even get started on Nappa. Each character feels like a funhouse mirror version of their original self. They're familiar enough to recognize but twisted just enough to make you laugh out loud. If you came for nostalgia, you definitely stayed for the absolute roasting.

Vegeta

Not only is everything he says better than anything any other character has said, but he actually seems like Vegeta. When I think about Vegeta, it's his voice I now hear in my head, not the "official" version.

He's fast, he's funny, he's quick-witted, and hammy as all get out. He gets the best moments, the best lines, and is performed spectacularly by Lanipator, who is able to cover a wide range of emotions and hit all the right notes where possible.

Everything that comes out of his mouth is hilarious! Both in Abridged and Dragon Ball Z and Super. His scenes with Queen Bulma are obviously my favorite.
Nappa

I just gotta go with my gut feeling. I have always loved Abridged Nappa, and it has gotten to the point where I can recite word for word every scene that Nappa speaks in. It's great and the obvious choice for me.

Nappa is by far the best character. He's so naive and childlike it's funny. I feel bad for Vegeta, though. Only stupid people consider him a friend, i.e., Goku and Nappa.

Nappa is easily the funniest character in the Abridged series! He is the patty-cake champion!
Goku

Seconded about MasakoX, plus the writing for his character is absolutely genius. It's so easy to go over the top with such a character type and destroy a good joke, but Abridged Goku hasn't failed me yet. Love it.

Of course he is the best. He is the main protagonist of the entire DB manga. Moreover, he has such a good heart. The strongest Saiyan, even more powerful than Vegeta.

I am the hope of the omniverse! I am the light bulb in the darkness! I am the bacon in the fridge for all the living things that cry out in hunger! I am the Alpha and the Amiga! I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am Son Gokū! And I am a Super Saiyan!
Krillin

Constantly put down by the other characters yet unrelenting in his quest to be of at least some use to people, Krillin will always be one of my favorite DBZ Abridged characters.
Sure, he can be an idiot and a jerk sometimes, but this is because the world is constantly out to get him. His bitter sarcasm in the Let's Plays is comedy gold, and you end up really rooting for him.

Krillin: Cuack!
Frieza: Zarbon, what the hell was that?
Zarbon: I believe that was the space duck, sir.

Krillin is the best! Even though he's weak, he's good comic relief. Plus, the Destructo Disk can take out anyone.
Mr. Popo

Well, he is unpredictable. For one thing, he's like the Lord Varys or Littlefinger of this abridged series. You constantly get the feeling that he owns everything and is a terrifying presence.
He can only be tamed by hallucinogenic drugs. What's not to like about him? Put him way up the list, please!

Why is Popo not number one? In the original anime, Popo was the kindest person there. On Abridged, Mr. Popo was sick, twisted, and cruel. The mention of his name terrifies every character in the show. Go to YouTube and search for Best of Popo.
Zarbon

Zarbon should be in the top 5. He's one of the best abridged characters!
Guru

Guru: NAAAIIL? Do we have a visitor?
Nail: Yes, Lord Guru!
Guru: NAAIL! Take his coat.
Freeza: I don't have a coat.
Nail: He doesn't have a coat! And he is the dude who killed basically our entire race.
Guru...

He is just hilarious. Seriously, go watch all of Guru's scenes. NAIL!

Piccolo

He has the best lines and is the most badass and reasonable one. Not to forget his alien sexiness. I love him, especially in the movies. He's a legend. The perfect slug demon!

Piccolo is the best comically serious character in the show.

I think Ridley Scott's gonna sue somebody.
Frieza

Freeza: Oh, please. Everyone's always on about the children. I've already tried leaving them alive, but all they do is grow up under my rule or dedicate their pathetic lives to revenge, usually both. Really, killing them is a kindness. I can retract that kindness if you wish. But then who's the villain?

Frieza was the reason why I could not breathe for 5 minutes straight after he opened his big fat...! And that is why he should be number one! (And the reason why I got a six-pack in only two days of listening to him.)

This guy was too funny. Pretty much every scene he was in was hilarious.
Cell

Cell, especially Mister Perfect Cell, has got to be the best character in the show. Great V.O. by Curtis and a great singing voice. Every line of his and their delivery is top-notch. In my opinion, he steals every scene that he is in.
If a show is only as good as its villain, then the Cell Saga in DBZA was the zenith.

Vegeta: What you do with this...thing?
Cell: I DRINK PEOPLE.
Vegeta: Would you try to drink me?
Cell: No.
*Tries to hit Vegeta with its tail to drink him*
Cell: I mean yes.

In my opinion, I think the Abridged people made Gohan sound like a pansy. But he's funny and smart. He's not my favorite, but I still like him.

Gohan, Pan, and Videl are my favorite characters.

He has a lot of witty comebacks. He's funniest in his most recent appearances, when he's kidnapped from New Namek, more sarcastic than ever.

Jeice

I'm from space Australia. It's Australia but in space. Go Space Broncos.
I always liked Jeice, and in Abridged, the whole Ginyu Force is just as funny and awesome as in the real version. He would've been better if he went for Space Parra, though.

Why isn't the Spice Australian higher on this list? I'm concerned.
Ghost Nappa

Ghost Nappa is by far one of the best DBZ Abridged characters in the series. Without him, Vegeta wouldn't be as funny as he is. We all have to admit, Ghost Nappa IS awesome.

Nappa was amazing, and they gave him more screen time and funnier quotes.
