Best Darling in the FranXX Characters
Zero Two is easily the best character in the entire show. I really love the Partner Killer's bold nature in how she behaves and interacts with others, especially her darling Hiro. I also love how she's a rebel, wanting to do her own thing. If her wish to see the ocean doesn't say anything about her as a character, then I don't know what does.
And the cherry on top? Haruka Tomatsu voices her. I haven't seen Tomatsu have a breakout role like Zero Two since Asuna Yuuki of Sword Art Online fame. My call? Zero Two is anime's best girl of 2018.
It'll probably take some time for me to get used to him, but as a character, I think he's decent. I kind of felt like he was too much of a hybrid between Kirito and Shinji Ikari in both design and personality, respectively, but I respect his resolve to try to be a good pilot again. And hey, he and Zero Two have a thing for each other. I can't wait to see how he develops.
Update: There's a lot more to Hiro than I thought there was. Hiro's Our Hero!
Hiro is just a really kind person. He tries to understand the opposite sides before accusing them. He is so kind-hearted.
GoBro is best bro, indeed. Our best bro's done a lot for Squad 13. And let's not forget best bro risked his own life to save Ichigo. That alone makes best bro not just best bro, but best bro of ALL TIME, bro.
Goro is the only rational person on the show.
Mitsuru's character development is amazing, as his character is one of the most complex. From a young age, Mitsuru was betrayed by the one he idolized. As a result, he refuses to idolize or look up to anyone again. This lack of idolization among others led him to idolize himself, resulting in arrogance. However, his self-esteem remains rather low. He must also prove to himself that he is worthy of idolization, which explains why he tends to take almost futile risks and put himself in danger.
Mitsuru pushes himself to the limit as a method of creating a figure he can look up to and also control. Due to his fear of betrayal and being perceived as weak, Mitsuru refuses to put his trust in others. However, he still believes himself to be rather incompetent, as shown by his constant desire to prove himself. This causes him to be aloof, as he won't allow others to put their trust in him due to the possibility that he'll disappoint them.
He's a jerk in the first episode, but after watching more, I came to realize how innocent-minded and cute he was.
He's my favorite character, and I love the subtle development he gets in the series.
I feel bad for Futoshi. He really loved Kokoro, but she broke their promise. I love how he moves on and learns to accept Kokoro and Mitsuru, unlike Ichigo, who still tries to get with Hiro while swatting away best bro Goro.
Plus, when Kokoro and Mitsuru lose their memories, he gets angry and tries to get them back together instead of trying to win Kokoro back, even though he had the opportunity.
He is the most unfortunate character. He has failed in love and most likely will not find a new one. He is practically not prominent, humiliated by others about his excess weight and character.
Yes, his story is the only reason why I continue to watch this anime. (Sorry for my English).
Right now, I simultaneously love and hate Ichigo. On one hand, I admire her for wanting to protect Hiro and make him strong again. On the other hand, I feel she's too much of a worrywart, to the point where she almost put her allies in danger by not countering those spider Klaxosaur swarms.
That, and I kind of feel Crunchyroll tries too hard to promote her character on social media anywhere they can, which gets a bit annoying. Then again, I'll just have to wait and see if Ichigo grows on me.
Kokoro trusts her instincts, making her arguably one of the most human of the bunch. Also, the only reason she betrayed Futoshi was to save Mitsuru from himself. She was also fully aware that Futoshi would be able to handle this, as he continued to support them both at the end of the series, being the first character to congratulate Mitsuru on becoming a father.
Overall, Kokoro is just so sweet and has everyone's best interests in mind.
Actually, the partners were decided, and I know she broke a promise, but it's because she can't speak her heart out. That's the point of pairing her with Mitsuru, so she would be braver. I would be creeped out if someone liked me the way Futoshi did.
Miku deserves better, man, especially considering the poor girl has to put up with that brat Zorome as her partner.
Miku deserves a lot better than Zorome. She is very cute and kind.
More people need to appreciate Nana for what she has done for Squad 13.
The Newcomers
She is smart, brave, calm, and lovable. She has to figure things out by herself. Despite her love for Ichigo, she doesn't force her feelings onto her. Later, she even sacrifices her own lifespan to help the group. I genuinely love her so much - best character in the show.
Ikuno deserves so much better. She's incredibly ambitious, especially during high-stakes battles - not to mention her honesty towards her other teammates. We also love the lesbian representation.
I'd really love her design, and I think she's a really underrated character. Most people will think she is a villain, but when you get to know her backstory, you'll realize that she just wants to save her people.
I love Alpha! His design is amazing! Although he may seem like a jerk at first, when you get to know him, you realize that he is just like the others - he cares about his squad. He was even used by Papa. When Alpha realized this, he felt betrayed but still stayed on the battlefield and fought there.
