Best Darling in the FranXX Characters

The Top Ten
1 Zero Two

Easily the best character on the entire show. I really love the Partner Killer's voluptuous nature in how she behaves and interacts with others, especially her darling Hiro. I also got to love how she's a rebel wanting to do her own thing. If her wish to see the ocean doesn't say anything about her as a character, then I don't know what is. And the cherry on top? Haruka Tomatsu voices her. Haven't seen Tomatsu had a breakout role like that of Zero Two since Asuna Yuuki of SAO fame. My call? Zero Two is anime's best girl of 2018.

2 Hiro

It'll probably take some time for me to get used to him, but as a character, I think he's decent. I kind of felt like he was too much of an expy hybrid between Kirito and Shinji Ikari with the design and the personality respectively, but I can respect his resolve to try to be a good pilot again. And hey, he and Zero Two have a thing for each other. Can't wait to see how he develops.

Update: There's a lot more to Hiro than I thought there was. Hiro's Our Hero!

Hiro, is just a really kind person, he tries to understand the opposite sides before accusing them. He is so kind-hearted.

3 Goro

GoBro is best bro, indeed. Our best bro's done a lot for Squad 13. And let's not forget best bro risked his own life to save Ichigo. That alone makes best bro not just best bro, but best bro of ALL TIME, bro.

Goro is the only rational person on the show.

4 Mitsuru

Mitsuru's character development is amazing, as his character is one of the most complex. From a young age, Mitsuru was betrayed by the one he idolized. As a result of this, he refuses to idolize or look up to anyone again. Generally, this lack of idolization among others lead him to idolize himself, resulting in arrogance. However, his self-esteem remains rather low. He must also prove to himself that he is worthy of idolization, in a sense, explaining why he tends to partake in almost futile risks and danger. He pushes himself to the limit as a method of producing a figure he can look up to that he can also control. Generally, due to fear of betrayal as well as being thought of as weak, Mitsuru refuses to put his trust in others. However, Mitsuru still believes himself to be rather incompetent, as shown by his constant desire to prove himself. This causes him to be rather aloof, as he won't allow others to put their trust in him, due to the possibility that he'll disappoint them.

5 Zorome

I've only seen two episodes right now as I write this, but man, I can't stand Zorome! He might get better in later episodes I watch, but I hate how egotistical and arrogant he acts towards Hiro over the fact Hiro was able to pilot Strelizia with Zero Two. Hopefully, his character gets better over time as I catch up with the new episodes.

His a jerk at the first episode but after watching more I come to realize how innocent minded and cute he was.

He's my favourite character and I love the subtle development he gets in the series.

6 Futoshi

I feel bad. He really loved Kokoro, but she broke their promise. I love how he moves on and learns to accept Kokoro and Mitsuru, unlike Ichigo who still tries to get with Hiro while swatting away best bro Goro. Plus, when Kokoro and Mitsuru lose their memories, he gets angry and tries to get them back together instead of trying to get Kokoro again, knowing he had the opportunity.

He is the most unfortunate character. He has failed in love and most likely will not get a new one. Nothing practically not prominent, humiliated by others about excess weight and character. Yes, his story is the only reason why I continue to watch this anime. (Sorry for my English).

7 Ichigo

Kind of as of right now, I simultaneously love and hate Ichigo. On one hand, I can admire her for wanting to protect Hiro and make him strong again. But on the other hand, I feel she's too much of a worrywart to the point she almost put her allies in danger for not countering off those spider klaxosaur swarm things. That, and I kind of feel Crunchyroll tries too hard to promote her character on social media anywhere they can that it kind of gets annoying. Then again, I'll just have to wait and see if Ichigo grows on me.

8 Kokoro

Kokoro trusts her instincts, making her arguably one of the most human of the bunch. ALSO! The only reason she betrayed Futoshi was to save Mitsuru from himself. She was also fully aware that Futoshi would be able to handle this, as he continued to support them both in the end of the series, being the first character to congratulate Mitsuru on becoming a father. Generally, Kokoro is just so sweet and has everyone's best interests in mind.

Actually, the partners were decided and I know she broke a promise but it's because she can't speak her heart out and that's the point of pairing her with Mitsuru so she would be braver. I would be creeped out if someone like me, the way Futoshi did.

9 Nana

More people need to appreciate Nana for what she has done for squad 13

10 Miku

Miku deserves better, man. Especially considering the poor girl has to put up with that brat Zorome as her partner.

Miku deserves a lot better than Zorome. She is very cute and kind

The Contenders
12 Ikuno

Ikuno deserves so much better. She's so incredibly ambitious, especially during high-stakes battles, not to mention her honesty towards her other teammates. We also love the lesbian representation.

13 001

I'd really love her design, and I think she's a really underrated character, most people will think that she is a villain but when you get to know her back story, you'll realize that she just want to save her people.

14 Naomi
15 Alpha

I love Alpha! His designs are amazing! Although he may seems like a jerk at first, but when you get to know him, you'll realize that he is just the same as others, he cares about his squad. And he even was USED by Papa. When he realized this, he felt betrayed but he still stayed by the battle field and fought there..
