I love how complex Gojo is and how deep he truly is behind the mask. He's the strongest person in his world, yet constantly fails to save the people he cares about.
He acts carefree, arrogant, and playful, but underneath that, he's carrying the loneliness of being unmatched. His friendship with Geto is one of the most important relationships in JJK. Gojo's inability to fully understand Geto's downward spiral becomes one of his biggest regrets.

Instead of succumbing to hatred or executing the higher-ups, Gojo chooses to become a teacher. He realizes that raw strength alone cannot change a broken system. He needs to raise a new generation of strong allies so no one ever has to be alone the way he and Geto were.
Yuji Itadori

The best protagonist ever! Yuji doesn't have a unique, hyper-specialized innate cursed technique for most of the series. His primary combat style is pure, unadulterated grit, physical martial arts, and mastering a universal timing trick.
The story doesn't coddle him. Yuji suffers immense, permanent psychological trauma, loses mentors and friends right in front of his eyes, and is forced to bear the crushing guilt of Sukuna using his body to commit mass slaughter in Shibuya. Yuji doesn't scream about a loud, self-centered dream like becoming the King of the Pirates or Hokage. His motivation is profoundly selfless.
Megumi Fushiguro

He stated that he only cares that a person has an "unshakable character" and kindness. He's really a caring person! Megumi has a quiet, introverted, and slightly tragic aura. While he acts cold on the surface and claims he "doesn't save people equally," his actions constantly prove he is deeply protective of those he loves, especially Yuji, Nobara, and his sister Tsumiki.

Megumi is actually one of the most talented and dangerous sorcerers of his generation, naturally, not plot-armored and carried by plot like Maki and Yuji. Even top-tier characters recognize Megumi's potential. Key moments show he can break free and go all out. Gojo sees equal or even greater potential in Megumi than with Yuji, maybe not Yuta's level, though. Gojo treats Megumi differently because his potential is unique.
Ryomen Sukuna

The best villain in the series and the second-best character, just behind Gojo. Sukuna is highly intelligent, calculating, and observant, more so than half of the cast. He understands cursed techniques at an elite level and plans long-term strategies, not just chaos. He enjoys watching people struggle and break, and he destroys, but often with a purpose. He represents pure, unapologetic natural selection.

Sukuna is highly respected because he lacks a tragic backstory to justify his evil. He does not claim to want to save the world like Madara, nor is he a victim of a cruel fate. He is a pure hedonist who lives entirely by his own rules, which is badass!
Nobara Kugisaki

Nobara's harshness is tied to her resentment toward gender expectations, her fear of losing herself, and her refusal to be boxed in. Her personality is tied to her pressure and the way she sees herself. I love her badass personality. Besides, she's adorable! Nobara constantly wrestles with femininity vs. strength and belonging vs. independence. She's such a deep character!
Nanami saving Nobara is a defining emotional moment that really hurt me to see both Nobara and Nanami suffer, especially since he does not come back. Nanami saving Nobara from Haruta is the point that made me look up to Nanami. He can be harsh, but he's a gentleman.
Toge Inumaki

He's so cute and adorable!
Maki Zenin

Maki and Mai are deliberate narrative contrasts. Maki represents defiance and effort, and Mai represents trauma, pressure, and forced roles. Their relationship is about emotional conflict, not "who's better," because Mai has better self-control, she's the feminine, pretty sister, and doesn't lash out at people, but Maki's more powerful and more dominant. People need to stop making Maki have submissive fan art as well when Maki's assertive as a character, and she does not have a bigger chest, so the fan art she has is garbage.

Maki is a badass! I love how she talks down to men and is a more dominant female lead.
Kento Nanami

He protects civilians first, always. He's not lazy or cold. His calm tone hides a strong sense of responsibility. He separates work from personal life to stay sane, hates exploitative systems that overwork people, and values fairness and balance, not laziness. He may not be flashy, but he's deadly and dependable. His Ratio Technique guarantees critical hits.

Nanami is the reluctant guardian who'd do the best for the students, even if he does not show it. Nanami is deeply traumatized, emotionally exhausted, and wants to be left alone, but he STILL tries and shows up when it matters. He is the adult who keeps going despite everything.
Panda

Panda is not a panda!
Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta's mastery of his technique requires extreme tactical intelligence. He has to manage a strict 5-minute time limit, coordinate complex cursed energy traits he didn't grow up with, and maintain perfect hand-to-hand combat skills. He isn't carried by his powers. He masterfully pilots them.
Yuta handles trauma with absolute grit. In Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Yuta was a severely depressed, suicidal kid who was accidentally cursing the world because of his grief over his dead childhood friend. But instead of letting that despair define him, he channeled it into a desire to protect people. He is a genuinely kind, humble guy who doesn't fight for ego or clan politics. He fights because he loves his friends.

Todo's instant bond with Yuji Itadori completely redefines the emotional energy of the series. This bizarre yet unbreakable "brotherhood" gives Yuji the exact emotional support and unconditional validation he desperately needs when he feels isolated by the rest of the world.
During the Goodwill Event, he actively coaches Yuji through the mechanics of cursed energy flow, directly enabling Yuji to master the Black Flash. Todo elevates the stakes and the capabilities of anyone fighting alongside him, acting as a profound martial arts mentor wrapped in the eccentric personality of a pop-idol superfan.
Suguru Geto

He's so deep! When Geto adopted his goal to kill all non-sorcerers, it wasn't out of a cartoonish desire to rule the world. In his twisted, broken mind, he was trying to save sorcerers. He realized that if you eliminate non-sorcerers, cursed energy stops leaking, curses cease to exist, and jujutsu sorcerers will never have to bleed, watch their friends die, or swallow vomit-flavored curses ever again. He chose to become a mass murderer so that his own kind could finally live in peace.
Even at his absolute worst, when he launched a terrorist attack on Shinjuku and Tokyo, Geto's core humanity never completely vanished. He never harbored hatred for Gojo, despite Gojo being the one who ultimately had to execute him.
Mahito

Mahito alters and destroys human souls simply because that is what he was born to do. This philosophical foundation makes his actions deeply chilling, as he is literally humanity's darkest impulses reflecting back at them.
Unlike typical villains who start at peak power and wait for the hero to catch up, Mahito grows alongside the protagonist. He experiences his own "shonen protagonist" moments on the battlefield. He learns, adapts, unlocks his own Domain Expansion (Self-Embodiment of Perfection) under extreme duress, and pushes himself to the brink of death to evolve. Watching a villain level up with the same grit and determination as the hero makes him an incredibly unpredictable and dangerous threat.

He weaponized his lack of cursed energy to become an untraceable, invisible ghost. Watching a man who was treated like absolute trash by the elite walk back into their world and single-handedly dismantle their god-tier prodigies (Gojo and Geto) is the ultimate, deeply satisfying revenge fantasy. He didn't just beat them. He completely broke the wheel of the jujutsu world.
His pragmatism is incredibly refreshing. He uses guns, flyheads as smoke bombs, and cursed tools seamlessly. He is a professional doing a job, completely devoid of the typical anime villain monologue or hesitation.

When Toji defeated Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, he didn't do it by overpowering them in a fair fight. He spent days orchestrating a bounty to exhaust Gojo mentally and physically, striking only when Gojo's guard dropped. This meticulous, high-IQ planning feels deeply earned rather than handed over by the author.
He came into the story, executed a flawless assassination plot, completely altered the trajectory of the universe, and left.
Choso

The moment Choso undergoes his "false memory" revelation and realizes Yuji is actually his brother is one of the most brilliant writing choices Gege Akutami made. He transitions seamlessly from Yuji's most terrifying executioner into his absolute fiercest guardian angel. The comedy of him constantly shouting, "I am your big brother!" acts as a brilliant mask for a deeply moving, fiercely loyal protective instinct.
During the Shibuya Incident, Choso slaughtered innocent humans to protect his family. He doesn't just get a cheap pass from the narrative. He actively acknowledges his sins, stating that he cannot live a normal, happy life because his hands are stained with blood.
Kenjaku

In a modern anime landscape flooded with villains who have tragic pasts meant to make you cry, Kenjaku is a breath of fresh air. He has zero trauma, zero tragic motives, and zero sob stories. He launched a thousand-year-old plot, orchestrated human-curse crossbreeding, threw the world into the deadly Culling Game, and engineered the literal apocalypse purely because he thought it would be interesting. He is a mad scientist motivated by ultimate curiosity and boredom. That pure, chaotic energy is incredibly fun to watch.

Kenjaku is fascinating because he orchestrates much of JJK's plot, and his body-hopping ability creates unique questions about identity and selfhood! In many ways, Kenjaku treats the entire world as an experiment. His morality is deeply disturbing because he doesn't usually act out of hatred. Instead, he sees people as variables and research material.
Hiromi Higuruma

Higuruma is one of the few modern sorcerers who achieved Grade 1 sorcerer strength in just 12 days after awakening his technique. Unlike characters who rely on generic physical brawling, Higuruma operates on pure tactical intellect, mastering complex concepts like domain amplification on the fly.
Higuruma began as a defense attorney who genuinely wanted to save the vulnerable. His subsequent descent into darkness, followed by his instant determination to use his Executioner's Sword to save Yuji, gave him a beautifully complete, self-contained tragic arc.

I love him, and he's a funny character.
Kirara Hoshi

Her close relationship and absolute synergy with Kinji Hakari make them one of the coolest duos in the series. Hakari and the rest of the main characters treat her with complete respect, validation, and normalcy. She completely neutralized Megumi Fushiguro and Panda without ever needing to throw a single heavy punch. She turned the laws of physics and gravity into a literal puzzle lock, proving that jujutsu battles are fought with intellect and high-concept boundaries, not just brute physical force.
Mai Zenin

Why does it matter if she's not powerful? Mai represents a normal human perspective. She never wanted to be a jujutsu sorcerer. She was terrified of curses and wanted a peaceful, ordinary life. The tragedy of her character is that the abusive, patriarchal Zenin clan forced her to fight against her will just to punish Maki for leaving. Her resentment toward Maki wasn't out of hatred, but out of the heartbreak that Maki's ambition stripped away Mai's choice to be normal and safe. Mai adapted out of pure survival.
Because she couldn't rely on massive energy blasts, she mastered firearms and became an incredible long-range support sorcerer. She used trickery, misdirection, and perfect aim to make up for what she lacked in raw power.
Wasuke Itadori
Yuki Tsukumo

As one of only four modern Special Grade Sorcerers, Yuki possesses a tier of power canonically defined as capable of overthrowing an entire country single-handedly. Her innate technique allows her to add "virtual mass" to herself and her shikigami, Garuda, to an infinite degree without slowing her down. Her strikes carry so much imaginary weight that they completely bypass conventional definitions of defense. She famously blew off both of Kenjaku's arms and punched him clean through a heavily reinforced barrier in a single strike.
When pushed to the absolute brink, Yuki can maximize her mass to create a literal black hole. Kenjaku explicitly stated it could have destroyed the entire world if not for Tengen's barriers and his own hyper-specific anti-gravity counter.
Shoko Ieiri

In the entire modern era, the only three characters who can project positive energy to regenerate other people's flesh and bones are Ryomen Sukuna, Yuta Okkotsu, and Shoko Ieiri. Gojo can only heal himself. If he loses an arm, it's awesome that he can heal himself, but he can't really help others here.
Shoko isn't just a magical band-aid. She is a world-class forensic scientist and medical doctor who passed the national medical exam. Her autopsies provided the heroes with critical tactical information. During the final Shinjuku Showdown, she performed the grim, highly advanced surgical operations necessary to prep Gojo's body so Yuta could pilot it via Kenjaku's technique. She single-handedly saved the lives of Kiyotaka Ijichi and Takuma Ino, both of whom had suffered injuries that would have killed a regular human or an unassisted sorcerer in minutes.
Kinji Hakari

Hakari doesn't sit back and contemplate his trauma. He lives for the "fever" of life and high-stakes gambling. In combat, he is an absolute brawler who doesn't hesitate. Hakari is deeply protective of and affectionate toward Kirara, completely defying standard toxic masculinity tropes. In a genre where male characters are often emotionally detached, Hakari's unashamed, loud devotion to his partner is incredibly charming.

Hakari just oozes confidence and style. Whether he is rocking a massive fur coat, sporting his distinct hairstyle, or casually disrespecting the traditional Jujutsu higher-ups, he commands every room he walks into. His partnership with Kirara is perfect because they both reject the stuffy, conservative rules of jujutsu society to live completely on their own terms.
