You know the feeling: an episode is cooking, the fight is clean, the drama is getting good, and then one character stomps in like a filler arc with legs. Some anime characters do not just annoy you, they drain the fun out of every scene by breaking the story, warping the tone, or making everyone around them act dumber by association. It is the kind of writing that can turn a binge-watch into a remote-grabbing endurance test.

This list is for the character types that make you pause the episode and question how nobody in the studio said, "Maybe this is too much." Sadists

I can't stand sadistic anime characters.
Literally, it is very hard for me to see my favorite character from an anime getting tortured by a sadistic character, no matter if it's emotional or physical.
What really bugs me is how sadistic anime characters have no empathy at all, and that some of them are sadistic for little to no reason. Most of them are also overpowered.
Mary Sues and Gary Stus

Sexual Molesters

These are so disgusting and so incredibly mean.

Overpowered Villains

I like Madara, but when he was replaced with Kaguya, most Naruto fans agreed that she sucked. The war arc went plummeting through the Earth's core after she was introduced. And yes, she was a terrible OP villain.

Madara Uchiha defines this trope, and I actually like Madara, mostly for his character and build-up. He was so broken that Kishimoto had no idea how to beat him, which resulted in that dumb Black Zetsu and Kaguya twist that I hate.

Villains that are so overpowered that not even the author of the manga knows how to defeat them.
Overly Obsessed Girls

Those are so annoying! They are so obsessed with a certain character that it becomes annoying.
Bad Parents

This happens a lot of times, when a certain parent does something extremely terrible to his or her child.
Whiny Characters

Characters that whine a lot about things and end up annoying the viewer.
Tsunderes

To be honest, tsunderes are a mixed bag. Yes, they can get on people's nerves, but that's not all of them. One of the tsundere mascots, Taiga Aisaka, is actually a very likable character, and so is Rin from Fate/stay night.
Cowardly Protagonists

Protagonists that are very strong but can't defeat a villain or monster just because they don't want to, even though it's pretty clear that they are very strong and can defeat the villain easily.
This can be really frustrating for the viewer.
