Top 10 Most Annoying Forms of Advertising
Advertising is everywhere. Whether you like it or not, it's something that will never go away. No matter how "consumer-friendly" or "here for you" a company claims to be, at the end of the day, all they want is your money. It's the cold, hard cash… I mean… truth. These are the most annoying tactics companies use to shove their product or service in your face.To be honest, as long as I can close out of these ads, it doesn't bother me. The only ads that are on my "My Pet Peeves List" are clickbait and ads that are impossible to close out of.
What bothers me the most is that, for instance, when you're watching music clips on YouTube (purely for pleasure), you suddenly get ads for job searching.
They're always at the sides of a webpage, above and below web articles, or popping up out of nowhere.
This has to be the most annoying thing on this list. Shopkeepers who HAVE to give those cue-card greetings, HAVE to ask you if you need assistance when you obviously don't, and HAVE to walk you through the store like you're a 2-year-old with no idea of how anything works. Oh, and they often HAVE to offer you their points card (a lot of them won't stop talking even when you say "no thank you") or stand by the entrance with flyers and try to get your attention when you're obviously not interested.
That was a big rant, I know (and I know these people are being told to do this by their stupid CEOs who know nothing about social etiquette), but I really hate shopping for this reason.
I'm glad my YouTube doesn't have ads. It's not an official app since my phone doesn't carry it. I don't know if that's okay or not, but it works really well! Before, I'd be tearing my hair out if I saw an ad and I was really anxious to see the video.
It's unbelievably annoying when you go to show someone a video and a 30-second ad shows up, especially when it's one you can't skip. So you have the most awkward thirty seconds you've ever had, just not saying anything and blankly staring at them. But by the time the ad ends, you either 1) forget what the video is about or 2) can't be bothered to watch the video, and then you go and do something else.
I want to save my social patience for people I want to talk to. Harsh, but true.
Soon to be history if the telecom companies block them. I'm not holding my breath!
This counts towards both online and snail mail.
Would you like some television show with your ads? The show is basically a side dish to the main course of attorney and Fiber One ads these days.
Especially the ones for animal shelters and medications. They're so long and boring!
Car commercials are terrible, end of story.
Thank goodness this tactic is almost dead. Before the internet, this was one of the only ways to bring product knowledge (if you can call it that) to the home. And to be honest, it was probably just as annoying as online ads.
To them, I'd say, I've got a door, so beat it.
I'm talking about those dang lit-up ones. Once the advertising starts to involuntarily distract drivers, that's when I get mad!
I don't really read the newspaper, but when I look at one, I notice how little of the actual news is even on the page!
Especially if a second ad pops up without warning.
I'm watching a video, and suddenly, an ad in the middle of the video pops up!
The Newcomers
"Your PC is infected with 3 viruses!"
These are similar in nature to television commercials. Only they're exclusively audio and always boring. At least television ads can be funny.
