Bands Falsely Accused of Having a Bad Singer

The Top Ten

His voice sounds sound horrible though, like really horrible...

While Jonathon Davis doesn't have an objectively good voice, the tone of the band works really well with his off putting vocals

Jonathan Davis does have a good eerie voice.

3 Nine Inch Nails Nine Inch Nails is an American industrial rock band, founded in 1988 by Trent Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio.

I'm a pretty big fan of NIN, and I won't go around saying Reznor has the best voice of all time but it certainly fits the band well.

I don't think Reznor's voice is that bad. Sure it may not sound that great nowadays but it was good in the 90s.

His voice fits the band well

Reznor's good

4 Nickelback Nickelback is a Canadian post-grunge band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The band is composed of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.

I agree with this. Whether you like his voice or not, he isn't a bad singer. Bad singer is somebody with small range, whose voice has no power, who sings off key and who has no command of vocal technique. Chad is really far from that:
1) His range is 3 octaves, 2-1/2 notes and is bigger than: Chester Bennington (3 octaves); Taylor Swift (2 octaves, 1-1/2 notes); Billy Joe Armstrong (2 octaves, 6-1/2 notes); Matt Bellamy (3 octaves, 2 notes)
2) Chad voice is extremely powerful and it's great for hard rock/metal
3) I never heard him singing off key (even live), unlike many praised singers who sing out of tune even on studio recordings.

I'm not a huge Nickelback guy but I don't think Chad's voice is that bad honestly. Everyone says he sounds like he's taking a dump which I don't really hear.

If you ask me, Dave Mustaine always sounds like he's taking a dump, yet Megadeth are more loved and praised than Nickelback.

This list is gonna be a hub for internet fights I'm sure

All these bands shouldn't be on this list except NIN.

5 Killswitch Engage Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbanding of Overcast and Aftershock.

Depends on which vocalist you're talking about (The band had two different vocalists from different time periods). If you ask me, Howard is better, or at least in clean singing, though both Howard and Jesse are adequate in their own right.

They have had 2 singers and Howard is very good.

As a death metal band, other people may get disturbed by the unusual vocals but that's their style and that's the people's thoughts so I shouldn't mess with that

No, now see, they have a really sht vocalist. The cookie monster should have sticked to sesame street

HAHA, very funny I've heard better singing from Cookie Monster.

9 Papa Roach Papa Roach is an American rock band from Vacaville, California. Formed in 1993, their first major-label release was the triple-platinum album Infest.

Not falsely accused in this case. The singer is very weak and whiny.

10 Black Veil Brides Black Veil Brides is an American rock band currently consisting of Andy Biersack (vocals), Jinxx (guitar), Jake Pitts (guitar), Christian Coma (drums) and Ashley Purdy (bass), that formed in 2006 in Ohio. In the beginning of their career, the band was heavily associated with the emo subculture, and had strong metalcore, screamo and alternative influences, however got more metal oriented over the years. Their songs usually carry a message of acceptance, believing in yourself and being individual and different. Among their most well known songs are "Knives and Pens", "Rebel Love Song", "In the End" and "Fallen Angels".

Andy's a singer I like but I see why people wouldn't

The Contenders
11 One Direction One Direction (commonly abbreviated as 1D) were a British-Irish pop boy band based in London, composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and previously, Zayn Malik until his departure from the band on 25 March 2015. It's hard with a group that has several singers but in my opinion would they range between mediocre (Liam Payne) and honestly really good (Zayn and Harry Styles) as vocalists.

12 Blood on the Dance Floor Blood on the Dance Floor was an American electronic music group from Orlando, Florida, originally consisting of Dahvie Vanity and several other members over time. The group formed in 2006, with former members including Jayy Von Monroe (2009–2016) and Garrett Ecstasy (2009), all of whom provided vocals for the project... read more

Uum... I am far from hating them, after 2011 they actually made decent pop/emo music with occasional highlights ("Where's My Wonderland". Please listen to it.) but yeah, Dahvie remains a very limited vocalist and in the beginning of his career he was constantly out of breath. He learned how to use his voice though, in a Marilyn Manson-esque way, and he is one of the few emo/scene vocalists whose screams don't sound like growling or shrieking, but actually like screaming out of emotional pain. But still, technically he isn't that good of a singer. As for Jayy von Monroe (until 2016) and Fallon Vendetta (since 2017), they can sing. Jayy's solo music simply is pop that's not in the slightest edgy, and you will notice he actually has a wider vocal range and more emotion than your average pop star (he uses falsetto vocals on some of his solo songs, but has growled in some older BOTDF songs). Fallon still needs a studio performance focusing on her singing (so far she's more about rapping, which she does pretty well), but on BOTDF's YouTube channel there's a behind the scenes video where she sings a short rendition of a song from "Wicked", and it shows that she actually has the vocal ability to carry a song.

14 Neutral Milk Hotel

I think Jeff Magnum's voice is pretty good. I don't get the hate

15 My Digital Escape

Because Bryan Stars sounds shrill, unconvincing and rather monotonic. It also doesn't help with the songs that he makes, which worsens the reputation of an already-controversial YouTube celebrity.

16 Theory Of A Deadman Theory of a Deadman is a Canadian post-grunge band. Formed in 2001, the band is currently signed to Roadrunner Records as well as 604 Records. Tyler's voice actually isn't that bad.

17 Marilyn Manson Marilyn Manson is an American rock band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Formed in 1989 by frontman Marilyn Manson and Daisy Berkowitz, the group was originally named Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids with their theatrical performances gathering a local cult following in the early 1990s. The name of the band comes from famous sex symbol Marilyn Monroe and famous criminal Charles Manson. Manson joined these two names together because he wanted a name combined with good (Monroe) and evil (Manson). The other members of the band have their stage names combined with the first names of famous sex symbols and the last names of famous serial killers.

Vocals are perfect

18 Greta Van Fleet

The riffs are awesome, the lyrics are fair, but the vocals SUCK. when they first made their band they made a cover to immigrant song and the singer was like cracking his voice durring the AH, AH part.

19 Sodom Sodom is a German thrash metal band from Gelsenkirchen, formed in 1981. They have gone through many line-up changes, leaving bassist vocalist Tom Angelripper as the only constant member.

As a thrash fan I have to say the singer's vocals kinda get on my nerves. Except for maybe a few songs on M-16.
