Best Detroit Lions Players Going Into the 2025-26 Season
Some say this could be Detroit's last chance at being considered a real Super Bowl contender, after a disappointing ending to the best season in franchise history. Now, they face a very difficult path without their two key coordinators. This season is going to define Dan Campbell as the head coach, as he tries to get his team back to the promised land.

The way he just mauls defenders is absolutely unreal. Go back and look at the highlights. Look at how dominant and quick Sewell is. Even I was blown away by how great he has become just by blocking alone.

Hutchinson was on pace to break the single-season sack record before going down hard.
If the Lions are going to reach a place they have never been, Hutchinson would need to be a dominant force on the field. Unfortunately, they didn't add another pass rusher to help him out.

Gibbs has proven he can hold his own carrying the football. He is a nice dual threat down the stretch.
He might have to take on an even bigger role this season. He is due to explode on the ground and in quick passes.

A reception magnet is what I would label St. Brown. He is able to create quick separation and is most likely Goff's favorite target when nothing else is working.

The better of the two safeties, Joseph made waves last season with a record nine interceptions. There is a case he could still find ways to bait teams into throwing in his direction.

If there is a candidate who is likely to regress, I wouldn't put too much stock in Jared Goff with a new offensive coordinator calling the shots. He could still be a game manager, but if the offensive line starts going down one by one, the noise surrounding Goff will get even louder.
He has shown he panics under pressure, and this would be quite alarming if it continues.

Although people have labeled him a dirty player, Branch is definitely a hustler in the back end of the defense. He is flying and swatting all over the field.
It is good to have a guy who tries to help out a timid corner.

While he is getting up there in age, he remains very important in the middle of this offensive line. If he goes down, you are asking the two guards to prevent Goff from facing a lot of pressure while throwing the football.

Not as good of a season, but it is possible he is still young enough to bounce back. Although if the passing game regresses, it could be another rough year for LaPorta.

He has shown to be great against the run. He is definitely one of the key players in the middle of this defense, although they could have used one more guy to help out. Nevertheless, he stops runners in their tracks.
