Top 10 Best Things About 2024

Rare total solar eclipse
Too bad I live in California, but this was something the U.S. had been waiting for since August 21, 2017. It's the last total solar eclipse until March 30, 2033, and for our contiguous states, until August 23, 2044. We will have to wait until August 12, 2045, for my home state to be on the path. That one will affect many states coast to coast, almost like the eclipse in 2017.
We were very uncertain about the weather for this one, since April is a month of highly unpredictable weather patterns. Indiana got the best spots, which is pretty far away from California.
It was the first total solar eclipse for the U.S. since August 21, 2017, and the last in general until March 30, 2033, as well as the last for the contiguous states until August 23, 2044.
It was the first time since September 14, 1205, that Indianapolis was in the path of totality and its last until October 17, 2153. It was Ohio's first time since June 16, 1806, as well as its last until September 14, 2099.
Plus, at 4 minutes 28.13 seconds, it was the longest total solar eclipse for the U.S. since July 11, 1991 (6 minutes 53.08 seconds) and for the contiguous states since June 16, 1806 (4 minutes 54.81 seconds), and all until August 12, 2045 (6 minutes 5.71 seconds).

Rare conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus
This is a big event for the cosmos. It's the first time such a conjunction occurred in Taurus since May 7, 1941, and the last time there until April 7, 2107. That dates back to the first year of World War II, so we're almost 83 years from the next alignment in Taurus. It was a once in a generation event for us.
