"A black swan
Is born that night
The misty pond

Will light ever rise again? " (Thorn) - Metal_Treasure

Dio was an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 and led by vocalist Ronnie James Dio, after he left Black Sabbath with intentions to form a new band with fellow former Black Sabbath member, drummer Vinny Appice.
Dio didn't write lyrics, he wrote poetry.
Don't write in starlight
'Cause the words may come out real
Don't hide in doorways
You may find the key that opens up your soul
Don't go to Heaven cause it's really only Hell
Don't smell the flowers
They're an evil drug to make you lose your mind

Moonspell is a Portuguese gothic metal band. Formed in 1992, the group released their first EP Under the Moonspell in 1994, a year before the release of their first album Wolfheart.
This band should be right upthere. It's one of the few (in my opinion) which are worth listening for the sole lyricism of their music. Fernando Ribeiro conjures up muses to cast spells.
Their lyricist and singer (Fernando Ribeiro) is not just a good lyricist - he's a poet (published three poetry books). He's got a degree in philosophy and it shows.
"It's when life's so precious that every moment hurts" (a line from the song WhiteOmega, 2012). - Metal_Treasure
