Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer) - Stardust
Great and very underrated fantasy movie. Michelle's performance made it. She was believable and memorable.
Claudia Hoffman (Sigourney Weaver) - Snow White: A Tale of Terror
Elspeth (Madonna) - Four Rooms
Many people criticized Madonna's acting here, but I loved her in Four Rooms. She looked interesting and hot. Also, her acting wasn't bad, I think.
Abigail Williams (Winona Ryder) - The Crucible
Technically, The Crucible is not a movie about witches, but it's based on the real-life events that resulted in the hanging of 19 people accused of witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692.
In the movie, Abigail Williams has been scorned by John Proctor after their affair, and as a result, she starts rumors of witchcraft.
Though the movie isn't about witches, people were hanged due to accusations of witchcraft caused by this woman who faked it all. To me, she is a real witch for that. Nobody can be more of a witch than someone who gets people killed with false claims. Also, she was real.
Asa Vajda (Barbara Steele) - Black Sunday
Dangerously beautiful, sexy, and a memorable witch from a classic horror movie directed by the legendary Mario Bava.
Sally Owens (Sandra Bullock) - Practical Magic
Not my favorite movie about witches, but Sandra did a great job.
Sarah Bailey (Robin Tunney) - The Craft
I love the way Robin played her.
Winifred 'Winnie' Sanderson (Bette Midler) - Hocus Pocus
The great Bette Midler was stunning here.
Serafina Pekkala (Eva Green) - The Golden Compass
Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) - Enchanted
Queen Narissa is the main antagonist from Disney's 2007 feature hybrid film Enchanted, and is the stepmother of Prince Edward. I was very excited to see the wonderful Susan Sarandon in such an interesting role. She was gorgeous in this film. Real witch.
The Newcomers
? Sylvia Ganush (Lorna Raver) - Drag Me to Hell
? Minnie Castevet (Ruth Gordon) - Rosemary's Baby
The Contenders
Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) - Elvira: Mistress of the Dark
This fantasy movie should have been a big hit. It was funny, entertaining, and interesting. Some scenes were even shocking and creepy. Not to mention the fact that Elvira herself looked gorgeous and wonderfully sexy.
The Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) - The Wizard of Oz
Sarah Sanderson (Sarah Jessica Parker) - Hocus Pocus
Gabby (Shelley Duvall) - Casper Meets Wendy
Haggis (Florence Schauffer) - Pumpkinhead
Maleficent (Eleanor Audley) - Sleeping Beauty
Maleficent is the main antagonist of Disney's 1959 animated feature film Sleeping Beauty. An evil fairy, Maleficent is an incarnation of pure evil, and is responsible for all misfortune in King Stefan's kingdom.
Jadis (Tilda Swinton) - The Chronicles of Narnia
Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) - Harry Potter
Minerva McGonagall (Maggie Smith) - Harry Potter
Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) - Harry Potter
A psychotic death eater who escaped from Azkaban, and is fiercely loyal to Voldemort. Murderer of many people such as Sirius Black, and also a sadist who drove the Longbottoms mad.
Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green) - Dark Shadows
The Witch (Jessica Harper) - Suspiria
Unfortunately, I don't know the actress who gave this character a voice, but she was brilliant. Her voice and that snoring sounded creepy as hell.
The Grand High Witch (Anjelica Huston) - The Witches
Nanny McPhee (Emma Thompson) - Nanny McPhee
Muriel (Famke Janssen) - Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
