Top Ten Most Underrated Movies

The Top Ten
The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The administrators of this site does not do a good job in checking out and removing factual errors, because if they did, this list would not have any movie from the overrated Jurassic Park series, nor would it have any movie from the overrated Star Wars series, the overrated Marvel series, nor the overrated DC series. Half the top ten of this list is wrong. The most underrated movie in the top ten of this list is The Iron Giant. That movie wasn't even a hit in theaters. Sadly, its flop is one of the big things that killed much of the 2d animated movie genre outside of anime. Seeing any movie from the Jurassic Park series, Star Wars series, Marvel series, or DC series on this list is as dumb as seeing any Mario game, Zelda game, Pokemon game, or Star Wars game on this site's list of most underrated video games. No wonder this site is looked down upon by many outsiders.

Cast Away

It tells a small story in a grand fashion. A man stranded on a remote desert island, fighting to survive while also coping with the fear of never being able to return as well as the overpowering sense of isolation.
It's simple, yet so captivating and emotionally wrenching. It has almost as much heart and soul as Forrest Gump and it is truly one of the finest movies ever made.

Yeah this movie is definitely underrated. I mean, it's not as if it received critical acclaim and was nominated for 2 Oscar's including Best Actor. It's not as if it's still a ver popular movie and is quite iconic... I don't think people understand the meaning of the word underrated..

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

It's ok. Explain HOW you think the script was bad, explain HOW you're supposed to make high quality scenes without CGI? How couldn't they make the pod racing scene WITHOUT CGI? Now explain to me that Darth Maul sabre fight? Explain that damn thing to me. Jar jar binks is the only problem in the whole saga. Now, the prequels DIDN'T suck, how about that Jango Fett vs Obi-Wan scene? That YODA vs Dooku scene? That battle of geonisis? The space battle above Coruscant? The General Grievous vs Obi-Wan? The legendary Obi-Wan vs Anakin? YODA vs Darth Sidious? And most of you STILL hate the prequels. The movie taste in some people...

The Great Mouse Detective

The most underrated detective. The most overrated detective is that overrated hack that dresses up like a bat.

This movie is truly underrated, unlike many of the other movies on this list.

Spider-Man 3

This truly is an underrated and more importantly MISUNDERSTOOD masterpiece. After Spiderman 1 & 2, people went in wanting another generic "hero beats bad guy movie", but instead got a character study on how greed and power affects people's lives by putting a good superhero movie 2nd to being a great character piece. Kevin Feige produced this (a sign of things to come - heading the MCU now) Bill Pope cinematographer (this is one of the best looking films I've ever seen) Christopher Young did the score which is a lot better and more emotional than the Randy Elfman score which is a generic superhero score, there is less CGI and green screen and more practical effects compared to the first 2, there is good visual storytelling and not terrible expositional dialogue like the first 2, and whats more, it makes the characters complex and well written. They're stories fit together one leads in to another going into its deeper themes of revenge and forgiveness. The inclusion of Venom I believe adds to the film as it shows Peter being bad to someone else as he gets overwhelmed by greed and power and let's the darkness take over as he ruins Eddie Brocks life until he has nothing and the symbiotes are the only thing he has left as he sacrifices himself to be with them. This film has not got too many villains, it just has characters with problems, this includes Peter and Mary Jane and how she is attracted to people with power before she gets bored and moves on, at the end she sings that she will never love again and Peter forgives her as they hug each other making a touching end to the film. One more thing - the symbiotes are a metaphor for greed - you know kinda like the Ring in Lord of the Rings, don't take it so literally.

Jurassic Park III

This was a childhood classic for me. It does have a few minor flaws but the movie had Sam neal, the effects were impressive, and the characters were alright. This movie gets too much crap handed to it.

The best Jurassic Park/World movie, That's not saying much, mind you.

This stands out for being a total horror film.

Batman Returns

So underrated. This was really awesome and had great acting.

Compared To The First One:

Direction: Batman Returns
Rewatch Quality: Batman
Acting: Batman Returns
Story: Batman
Score: Batman Returns

What Maisie Knew

I watched this film because I felt like looking into something that wasn't really given any attention. Turns out, this is a pretty emotional movie with its own fair share of tense and heartwarming moments. It does a pretty good job in depicting parental neglect in the eyes of a child and I have to appreciate how said kid has to deal with it, alongside a small, yet pretty good supporting cast.

I should also give out props to Onata Aprile, who played the title character. Keep in mind that it's rare to see a child performance be that good.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

Episode II had a lot of issues like, Anikin was dork, padme was annoying, obi-wan wasn't all that bad, the ending was dumb. After all that said. It also had good things about it, like the big battle at that arena, the light saber fight with Yoda and Dooku, and Padme was kinda hot. I'll give it a 7/10. Honestly!

The movies are underrated in the sense that when people talk about them, they only talk about the negative. I'll admit this is definitely my least favorite Star Wars film, but it is by no stretch of the imagination the atrocity people paint it to be.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

This is one of the best movies ever, it's not overrated in the slightest.

People don't talk about this movie as much.

Futuristic cinema, ladies and gentlemen.

The Newcomers

? Charlotte's Web 2: Wilbur's Great Adventure

I honestly love this one. Accepting change is important.

? The Tigger Movie

The story, music, and animation capture the meaning of childhood and family flawlessly

The Contenders
The Land Before Time

Not many people know it, but Steven Spielberg and George Lucas were actually executive producers of the film.

Oh yeah, this film is honestly a lot better than most animated flicks in my opinion and it never really gets much attention, especially due to sequel overdose.

Far from being on the levels of All Dogs Go to Heaven, but still a very good Don Bluth film.

Hook
Memento

This is a well-known and acclaimed movie. It is by few means considered underrated. That is like saying The Shawshank Redemption is underrated because it didn't make much money at the box office. My pick for most underrated movie is The Prestige, also directed by Christopher Nolan. It is a film about rival magicians in turn of the century London. Sounds boring? It is actually a dark and twisty tale that has a plot twist that is shoved in your face throughout the movie and you never notice it, like a magic trick.

American History X

Easily a Top 5 for me. The social commentary in this film is really up to look at and the overall story is great too. Edward Norton gives off his best film performance and should have won an Oscar for this performance in my opinion.

Charlotte's Web (1973)
All Dogs Go to Heaven

Anne Marie is the sweetest most adorable little girl ever. My heart melts

Collateral

If anyone is either into action, thriller or Tom Cruise in general. give this film a watch. It's one of the most underrated action flicks out there, with great acting, script and action set-pieces of course.

Alien Resurrection
The Exorcist

This movie is not underrated. It is always on top of best horror/scariest movies list.

This a legendary film why is it here?

Underrated? Nah it's overrated

The Iron Giant

I don't think this movie is underrated or even overrated in my opinion, still better than The Lion King though.

This is underrated because it is not held in high regards when compared to several cgi animated movies.

I'm so happy to see this movie so high up. This movie is seriously amazing, the humor couldn't be better.

Star Wars Episode III - The Revenge of the Sith

Everbody wrote this film off from the start due to the lackluster performance of the previous 2 films, but this film did an excellent job of bringing back what the previous films lacked. Character development. Anakin's descent is one of the most haunting and interesting things in the history of the star wars franchise, and it really sold me. This was a film that was far better than most people gave it credit for.

People hate on this film just because it's a prequel. Yes I agree episode 1 and 2 were not that good and people have seen why (jar jar binks and Anakin and Padme romance) but people who know about those flaws of episode 1 and 2 just assume episode 3 has a lot of flaws as well. I don't care what anyone says but after empire strikes back this is my favourite star wars film. The prequels aren't bad after all and I grew up with 6 of the films so to me its more of a sextilogy for me. now a septilogy and soon itll be an octilogy.

Big Trouble in Little China
Indiana Jones and The Temple Of Doom

Indie is so ' awesome in this movie. People that dislike this film are just sensitive snowflakes that try to get offended at everything.

Not the best Indiana Jones film but still really good.

Polar Express

This film is so misunderstood.
