Top 10 Things Nickelodeon Wants You to Forget

Nickelodeon gave you slime, orange soda, and an unhealthy attachment to talking sea sponges. It raised you on a diet of animated weirdos and sketch comedy chaos, then sprinkled in some surprisingly emotional gut punches when you least expected it. But behind the bright colors and catchy theme songs sits a backroom full of things they'd rather you pretend never happened.

This list shines a blacklight on those moments Nickelodeon wishes you'd leave buried in the vault. The flops, controversies, miscalculations, and flat-out disasters that don't exactly fit the image of the network that brought you childhood joy.

You get to vote for the ones you think deserve to stay at the top. The worse the offense, the higher it goes. Or maybe the weirder it gets, the more it deserves attention. However you rank them, you're helping decide what Nick would probably delete from existence if they had a big enough eraser.

The Top Ten
  1. Passing on Adventure Time in favor of Fanboy and Chum Chum

In what has to be the stupidest decision in Nickelodeon history, Nick passed on Adventure Time and instead went with Fanboy and Chum Chum. We all know how that went.

This is a good thing. If Adventure Time fell into the hands of Nick, who knows what would have happened? It probably would have been canceled after 1-2 seasons.

Adventure Time is great, and Fanboy and Chum Chum is the worst cartoon ever allowed to air on TV.

  2. Not allowing The Legend of Korra finale to air

The Legend of Korra was a great Nick show that, unfortunately, was treated very poorly by the Nickelodeon network. According to Nick, it was due to low ratings that the final episodes did not air on TV and were instead released online.

However, some speculate that the depiction of Korra and Asami as bisexual may have played a role. This is ironic considering a recent episode of The Loud House revealed Luna Loud to be bisexual and was still aired.

I really think it's part of the bisexual factor and part "SpongeBob reruns."

  3. Accidentally airing a pair of boobs on a kids' show

In a completely unexpected moment in Oggy and The Cockroaches, there is a brief scene that clearly showed a picture of a character with boobs.

Obviously, parents were outraged, and Nickelodeon had to pull the episode.

I never actually knew that Nickelodeon aired Oggy and the Cockroaches.

  4. Fred: The Show

Fred: The Show is an American television comedy series created by Lucas Cruikshank. It aired on Nickelodeon in the United States from January 16 to August 3, 2012. The series was based on the YouTube character Fred Figglehorn and was canceled after one season due to low ratings and poor critical reception... read more

While Fred may have been a huge hit on YouTube, there was absolutely no way it would ever appeal to the masses. That didn't stop Nickelodeon from giving Fred his own show. Not even appearances from John Cena could save this mess.

  5. Rugrats being accused of anti-Semitism

  6. Nick Studio 10

Nick Studio 10 was a live afternoon programming block on Nickelodeon that aired from February 18, 2013, to June 17, 2013. It briefly returned for a special episode on Labor Day but did not continue after that. The block aired from the network's headquarters in Times Square, New York, and was broadcast... read more

This was a completely pointless segment, interrupting shows just to air this garbage. It was hated by everyone. It only lasted for a week before disappearing, then came back briefly, and finally was gone for good. Nick hopes everyone will forget this mess.

  7. Oversaturation of SpongeBob

Nickelodeon's biggest asset, SpongeBob, also became their biggest detriment. By trying to focus too much on SpongeBob, it ended up hurting the network in the long run, preventing other shows like Harvey Beaks from gaining traction.

I mean, people love SpongeBob, but too much of a good thing is never good.

This will be the fate of The Loud House.

  8. Nick News

  9. Angry Beavers: Bye Bye Beavers

Originally supposed to be the finale, the episode never got animated as Nickelodeon had this thing about not letting it get out that a show was coming to an end.

However, audio from the episode does exist, with both main characters breaking the fourth wall, talking back and forth, and even criticizing the network.

Luckily, the audio is available on YouTube.

  10. Cry Baby Lane

Surprised this wasn't on the list to begin with. This film was so scary and inappropriate that they locked it away, hoping that people completely forgot about it.

I've never seen this movie, but I saw a picture of it a while ago, and I was terrified. But, they aired it again last year.

  17. Firing Dan Schneider

Dan Schneider went from writing great shows like Drake and Josh, iCarly, and Victorious to terrible ones like Sam and Cat, Henry Danger, and Game Shakers. That's a dramatic decline in quality.
