Top 10 Pokemon Abilities That Aren't Bad, But Are Annoying

Abilities are hit or miss for me in these games. This list covers the ones that are generally decent, so no Truant or Defeatist, but are still annoying to deal with when you battle someone using them.

The Top Ten
  1. Sand Veil

Any ability that ups evasion is really annoying to deal with, because then you'd be missing a lot unless you use something like Swift or Magical Leaf.

  2. Drizzle

  3. Shadow Tag

A sinister ability that prevents switching or running. Good for catching fleeing mons, but then again, it's bad if you're trying to get away. I put it ahead of Magnet Pull since Magnet Pull only affects Steel types, and Arena Trap will not work on Flying types or those with Levitate.

  4. Static

Also known as the ones that make you think twice about using a physical contact move as they give a status often. This is especially blatant with Static, since nearly every Electric type has it.

  5. Chlorophyll

Evasion makes moves miss a lot, but having to deal with a mon that increases its speed is also going to be nasty, especially with the obviously fast ones.

  6. Sturdy

For those playing from Gen 5 onwards, Sturdy is problematic due to not being able to one-shot the many mons that now have it. It was less of a problem beforehand because it only affected actual OHKO moves, instead of every move. While a lifesaver for you, it's annoying if you're battling someone else with it.

  7. Hustle

Trades accuracy for power. Cool, except now my best physical attacks will miss. No thanks, I would stick to specials more than this.

  8. Serene Grace

A good ability that allows for added effects to happen more often. It is already kind of a problem when fighting someone who will use moves with added effects because it seems to almost certainly occur more than anything.

  9. Intimidate

Most casual players like me try to get through battles as much as possible. Intimidate hinders that greatly with an immediate attack drop. What's uncalled for is just how many mons have it (Growlithe, Gyarados, Ekans, Mawile, Mightyena, Stantler, Tauros, Hitmontop, Masquerain, Salamence, Staravia, Shinx, Sandile). More than half of these mons don't need it.

  10. Mold Breaker

  11. The Contenders
  12. Magic Guard

You must remember with Magic Guard, only direct attacks do damage. This renders whittling down an opponent with poison, burn, or hail/sandstorm chip damage useless.
