Top Ten Reasons the Star Wars Prequels Aren't that Bad

The Top Ten

1 They introduced a new generation of fans.

The prequels allowed for thousands of new fans to join us in experiencing the amazing Star Wars films. - GrimmShady

2 A fan proved that they can be amazing with a little bit of editing.

I know I talk about this anytime anyone mentions the Star Wars prequels but believe me, if you were annoyed with the Star Wars prequels, I cannot recommend it enough. A Youtuber by the name of JeremyMWest Esquire created a beautiful fan edit of the prequels known as the anti cheese edits in which he actually changed everything we hated about the prequels, or at least the things he could fix. Unfortunately Disney removed the movies from YouTube. Luckily, Jeremy uploaded a video titled "Where are the Star Wars anti cheese edits? " in which he explained what happened with Disney. In the comment section of that video, a random user left a link to each one of the edited films on google drive where you can watch them in their full glory. I won't spoil anything for you but believe me, he made them far more worthy of the Star Wars name. - GrimmShady

3 They gave us a deeper understanding of the Sith.

Thanks to the prequels, we now have a much wider knowledge of the Sith. - GrimmShady

4 Ewan McGregor delivered an excellent performance.

Hayden Christensen may not have satisfied us fans so much, but Ewan McGregor certainly did. - GrimmShady

Yes he did, a great one. - micahisthebest

5 The Space Battles were so much better than all of the space battles in the originals.

Opening to episode 3. Period.

Once you have seen the sequences in the prequels you will be incredibly underwhelmed by the battle in the OT. - GrimmShady

6 They tell the story of Darth Vader.

Yeah, it was a well-needed story. - micahisthebest

Whether you liked how it was told or not, the tragic backstory of Darth Vader I believe was effectively told. - GrimmShady

7 They tell the story of Obi Wan Kenobi.

Aside from Darth Vaders past, we learn a lot about Obi Wan. And while I believe the films should have touched a bit more on Anakins friendship with Obi Wan, and a little less on this weird forbidden love story, you can clearly see that Obi Wan and Anakin are brothers, and that they have a great respect for each other. This makes that duel between Obi Wan and Vader in A New Hope all the more emotional. - GrimmShady

8 They teach you more about Sidious.

In certain cases, it is good for someone's past to remain a mystery, but the Original Trilogy did not touch on how Sidious to power at all. I like that the prequels effectively told us how Palpatine rose to power while still keeping his past somewhat of a mystery. - GrimmShady

9 They added so much to the Star Wars universe.

The Clone Wars T.V. series is but one amazing product of the prequels. These movies truly gave us so much more to explore. - GrimmShady

Yeah, it added SOOO much! - micahisthebest

10 They have awesome villains.

Awesome villains, unlike the originals which didn't have much, although Darth Vader was great! - micahisthebest

Example Darth Maul Jango Fett and Count Dooku - christangrant

The Contenders

11 The Obi-Wan vs Anakin Fight was Awesome.

I have to admit, it was probably the best of the prequels. - micahisthebest

12 They tell you more about Boba Fett.

Yeah, it actually does. - micahisthebest

Many people will disagree with me on this but I personally didn't mind the backstory provided for Boba Fett. A lot of people said that it made Boba Fett less mysterious and cool, but I think that seeing his dad's head lobbed off before his own eyes is what began Boba Fetts path from the cowardly and admittedly annoying little clone to the rutheless mysterious, bounty hunter we all know and love. - GrimmShady

13 They were creative.
14 George Lucas created them.
15 They were original.
16 They were much more emotional
17 They introduced new, amazing planets
