Top 10 Best Rock Anthems

You know the ones. The riffs that hit like a freight train, the choruses that thousands scream in unison, the lyrics that feel like they were written for every comeback, every rebellion, every underdog moment. Rock anthems aren't just songs. They're fuel. They grab you by the collar, crank the volume, and dare you to stay seated.

These are the tracks that fill arenas and echo through locker rooms. They turn car rides into concerts, bad days into victory laps. Whether you're throwing fists in the air or just mouthing the words in your room like you're center stage at Wembley, these songs do what polite background music never could. They ignite you.

So here's your shot. Look through the list and vote for the ones that still give you goosebumps. Maybe it's the scream that kicks off a revolution, or the line that drags you out of a slump and pushes you forward. Whatever your reasons, your voice helps decide which tracks truly deserve to be called the best of the best.

The Top Ten
  1. Don't Stop Believin' - Journey

Hard for this to be a universal "one size fits all" rock masterpiece due to the Detroit reference (not everyone is from Detroit). Great song, anyway. Steve Perry is irreplaceable, and Neal knows it. That explains the awkward face on Neal at the 2017 awards.

No one ever sounded better on vocals than Steve Perry in this classic!

Simply the most epic rock anthem ever made!

  2. We Are the Champions - Queen

Can be overplayed a lot, but nothing beats this. It's a champion song from a champion band, performed countless times by a champion man named Freddie Mercury. I don't know if anyone will ever be able to surpass the awesomeness this song holds. Oh, and where's We Will Rock You? The number one picked song is a lie.

Should be higher. Freddie Mercury was the King (uh... Queen) of Rock Anthems. Ever see the vids of Queen at live concerts? And where is "We Will Rock You"?

This is chanted all around the world. You must watch Queen live. They didn't just write songs. They wrote anthems and epitomized crowd involvement.

  3. We Will Rock You - Queen

A proper rock anthem is a song that could be played at any event to pump up a crowd. I like many of the songs on this list, but only a few of them really meet that criteria. "Rock You" is the quintessential example. Also, there should really be some Boston and Styx here!

Everybody sings along when this masterpiece is played.

This is one of the most famous songs on this list.

  4. Livin' on a Prayer - Bon Jovi

This song is the best. How is this not number one? Although it's weird that It's My Life isn't on this list. I guess all the Bon Jovi fans chose this song.

Immortal '80s. All kudos in the world to AC/DC, The Who, Queen, etc. as reliably good bands, but Bon Jovi knocked this song out of the park.

  5. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Awesome song. Almost everybody knows it or at least has heard of it. Beautiful.

  6. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

The best I've ever listened to. Kurt is simply the best of the best. This song is a trendsetter, bringing a lot of kids back to rock from *** music, changing the music scene. It definitely deserves to be at the top. Nirvana is my all-time greatest. Load up on guns, bring your friends...

This song deserves to be number one on this list for the huge effect it had on music and society, the intensity of the music and lyrics, and the catchiness of the tune. A brilliant song for sure!

I grew up to Journey, Queen, and other greats, but peaked with Smells Like Teen Spirit.

  7. I Love Rock 'n' Roll - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

This is top ten for sure. Play it for any five-year-old and they get it.

  8. Rock and Roll All Nite - KISS

People know this song before they know KISS. It's the greatest rock and roll anthem ever made and should be on top, in my opinion. The song is rock and roll. It makes everyone want to "rock and roll all night and party every day."

This song is about rocking and rolling to rock and roll from the greatest rock band in history. How can it not be number one?!

KISS is notorious for making epic rock anthems, but not even Beth or Detroit Rock City can top this song. Easily the greatest rock and roll song ever written.

  9. My Generation - The Who

Amazing bass in this awesome song. The Who's generation was simply amazing! I hope that people would vote this as number one!

  10. Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

Ode to the Mets - The Strokes

  13. ?

    Red Flag - Billy Talent

  14. The Contenders
  15. For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) - AC/DC

If there is a real rock anthem, it's this song. No doubts, since it's all about rock and roll and can be used as a welcome song for someone who is only learning about the rock and roll world.

The most epic song ever. Everything is perfect: riffs, drums, bass, vocals, and cannons.

The single greatest rock anthem. Nothing else even remotely comes close.

  16. I Was Made for Lovin' You - KISS

People, for whatever reason, hated this song when it first came out. However, KISS didn't care. As Paul Stanley said, "KISS doesn't play by your rules." The band continued to play the song for years in a heavier rock and roll version. This song should be higher up, I think.

  17. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones

  18. The Final Countdown - Europe

I always feel like I should stand when this song plays.

This is a great high-energy anthem rock song!

  19. Shout It Out Loud - KISS

"Don't let 'em tell ya that there's too much noise. They're too old to really understand." The culmination of Gene and Paul on lead vocals makes this song fantastic. The song is almost as catchy as "Rock and Roll All Nite." I think this song should be in the top ten spots at least.

  20. Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) - Journey

  21. Young - Hollywood Undead

  22. Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Free Bird is THE rock anthem and always will be.

If you know it, a comment isn't necessary.

Millennials need to know what real rock is. The sounds of their parents.

  23. Back in Black - AC/DC

  24. Rock You Like a Hurricane - Scorpions

  25. Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance saved my life. All their songs have really touching lyrics.

And Gerard is the sexiest man on the planet! I love My Chemical Romance!

One of the best rock anthems, period.

Also, one of the best bands in modern rock. This band changed my life - I truly wouldn't be the same without them.

I used to think this song was overplayed, but when it's not shoved in your face, it's one of the greatest modern rock pieces out there.

  26. Highway to Hell - AC/DC

The riff is unmistakable! This song started AC/DC's international careers, and it was Bon Scott's greatest song! Amazing song!

My favorite song by AC/DC, along with Let There Be Rock. Bon Scott had a truly unique voice and will be missed by millions around the world.

  27. Paradise City - Guns N' Roses

The intro speaks wonders. Then, you progress into one of the best heavy metal riffs of all time, with Axl Rose and his classic, one-of-a-kind sound. The end is simply insane, with Axl screaming, Slash shredding, Duff rocking out, Izzy doing his thing, and Steven beating the crap out of the drums. Easily #1.

Awesome anthem. Even better to see live than on the album.

  28. Dream On - Aerosmith

  29. Enter Sandman - Metallica

Another great song, for some reason at the bottom?
