Top 10 Best Wingers in International Rugby
Rugby is a game of grit, strength, and above all, teamwork. In this game of unyielding intensity, where each player is as important as the next, the wingers hold a special place. Think of them as the cheetahs of the rugby savannah, sleek and fast, always ready to pounce when the opportunity arises. However, it's not just about speed, although that's a vital part of being a winger. It's about a balance of skills: the agility to sidestep an oncoming defender, the strength to withstand tackles, the awareness to always be at the right place at the right time. Oh, and a knack for scoring tries, of course. These are the qualities that define a great winger, and the players that have mastered these are the ones who are usually in the running for the title of the best.
How a person of his size can still score so many tries in big games shows how good he is. Best sidestep in world rugby!
It shows you a small guy has a place in rugby. Love to see him play, sad to see him go. Respect, dude.
Simple, too good to be real.
Considering that the Springboks are not the most adventurous ball-playing team, Habana's numbers are phenomenal. Sheer pace, high work rate, and second to no other winger on this list in defense as well. A real finisher when given a sniff. Always makes meters, always a threat.
He is insanely fast and has the ability to complete incredible tries! No doubt about it, he is my favorite rugby player and should be number one on this list.
Habana at his best can win big games for the side he plays for. Great on defense and scores some fine tries over the years. Will be a legend of the game.
Scores numerous tries for England and takes risks that are worth it!
Not as good as Shane Williams, but he's a more destructive player.
This guy is what you call brilliant, the best winger in the world.
2014's best winger in the world... By far!
From Aussie rules to the NRL and now union, this guy is the real deal. Just watch YouTube!
He is the greatest winger ever!
Nobody can stop the bus.
This man has power.
You only need to see his YouTube clips. But if you are a real fanatic, you would know that this guy went up against great opponents and made them look silly. Speed, power, agility, and very skilled, Rupeni was the ultimate threat.
Caucaus one of the best wingers my eyes have ever seen. At his prime, he could go past any team! Not only is he a good attacking winger, when he runs past a player, he can never be caught, even at a jogging pace.
Jonah Lomu is by far #1 -- he somewhat revolutionized rugby to the state where the general person on the street knew who he was (but no one else in the sport). This list is obviously biased because there would be no one north of the equator in my top 10. Rupeni, Tuigamala, David Campese, Christian Cullen, Sirelli Bobo, Habana, Savea, and the rest Kiwis. Unbelievable how many aren't even named here to accommodate some of the second-rate names that are.
This is just crap. Why is he here? He is number 1. He will smash Shane Williams like nothing (not that I hate him) and scored 8 tries, and Shane Williams scored 6 tries, so think about it.
Changed rugby. Simple as that.
Whomever has voted Chris Ashton above Lomu (or Rokocoko for that matter), wind your neck in, eh?
I just love the way that he speeds up a game, and not only that, he is fast but strong too.
Ridiculous talent! Best England winger - fact!
Fastest, most incredible multi-talented God-given rugby player.
Simply the best, the fastest, the most humble...
I think Luke Fitzgerald is a great winger because he scores fantastic tries and has got great passion, and he plays for Ireland, and he is a great part of the team. He is number 2 after Alesana Tuilagi.
Number 3 behind Tuilagi and Fitzgerald, but is still a brilliant winger.
Chris Patterson is an awesome winger. I wonder how many International tries he has scored for Scotland.
Great Tigers player and has got great quality. Much better than Shane Williams. Great Samoan player.
This ranking is a complete joke! Campese at #23? It has to be a joke! He is undoubtedly the best winger rugby has seen to date. By a mile! (Arguably, he's the best to ever play the game.) Let's get serious here for a bit!
There is no question who the best winger in the world was, Mr. David Campese, the wizard of Oz. Campo was the Pele of football!
The best winger of all time. End of conversation.
The best ever...
So underrated, top 5 all-time, 37 tries for France and over a 100 in the Top 14, incredible player.
