Top 10 Best Rugby League Teams of All Time
11 consecutive premierships - a recognized world record.
More Immortals than any other club.
Rules had to be changed in order to beat them. Teams had to be introduced (Cronulla and Penrith) in order to beat them. They didn't lose at home for well over two years.
Never before, never again. No one gets close to the Mighty Dragons.
The statistics say it all: 11 straight premierships and an absolute plethora of Immortals. No other team anywhere, ever, has or will come close. D4L
Has to be number one. I think a lot of people voting here would not have seen them play, which is why they are not ranked first.
Some awesome teams in this lineup. However, I'm voting for the team that not only totally dominated its own league (with very entertaining football) but also dominated the Aussie teams when they played them (WCC and Sydney 7's). When I was growing up, this Wigan team was basically the GB team too - Hanley, Offiah, Gregory, Lydon, Edwards, the list goes on.
And to all the Aussies out there, yes, your teams are historically the best (can't argue with that), but this Wigan team would have dominated the Sydney comp in its day. No one can or could dispute that.
This team is the best team in the pro era because they reached four grand finals in a row from 2006-2009. I think that record won't be broken in the pro era. They also have the best fullback ever, Billy "The Kid" Slater.
They have won the premiership two times and the World Club Challenge two times.
Best club side in rugby league history. Most well-known, most popular, richest, most watched/attended rugby club side in the world. They have had arguably the greatest players of all time play for them: Lockyer, Lewis, and Langer. Add the best prop forwards of all time, Lazarus, Webcke, and Petero Civoniceva, and three of the greatest centers of all time, Gene Miles, Hodges, and Folau. They also have the highest revenue of any rugby club in the world across both codes.
The Broncos of the 1990s were close to unbeatable. Best team of all time.
I am now 76 years old and have seen most of the Australians mentioned in the list of the 10 greatest players. I would add one to the list, and that would be the greatest second-row forward I have ever seen - Gordon Tallis. Of the Great Britain players, I would put Ellery Hanley up there.
All wonderful players, but I only ever saw one genius. That was Lewis Jones.
Won when it mattered. Although having seen eight Challenge Cup final defeats in my time as a fan probably leaves them behind Wigan's '80s/'90s team.
Has there been a spell of dominance in England greater in the British game? They were arguably the best team in the world for five years running.
An amazing side that changed the game, and unlike some of the sides here, they played in a national competition.
Champion team in that era.
I can't believe the Storm are in this. They had their premierships stripped.
A dream team with both attack and defense being brutal, fast, and powerful.
Wigan may have been dominant in the '80s, but that was only when they were one of the few "professional teams" of that era. Bring on Super League, where there's a level playing field for everyone, and look who dominates - The Saints!
They were not called the entertainers for nothing. The first team in the professional era to do the treble. Two world club championships and a special team. They should be much higher.
One of the best of all time. Shame the English game has become so poor and is unfortunately fast becoming more boring than Union.
Back when they and their supporters didn't have a horrible reputation.
Best team ever. Can't believe they're only 12th. They should be in the top 5. Leeds Rhinos suck, lost against Storms earlier in 2018.
The greatest era of rugby league, the toughest era, and an era they dominated.
The Newcomers
One of the best teams ever! SSTID. They have won 20 premierships - says it all.
The 1995 team was nearly unbeatable, and it is nearly a crime that they slipped up against Canterbury in the Grand Final.
Even now, the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles are the most consistent and best.
The best Super League team of all time.
They beat the record for the most consecutive wins by winning 17 matches in a row.
They have won the most World Club Challenges!
The last team to win three in a row and also one of the few teams to ever do it. They also played in four grand finals in a row.
The names in that all-star backline were some of the best ever to grace a footy field, bar none!
Go Eels! They may not have the most wins, but they are still a great team - my team.
Had the first superstar of the game, Billy Batten, and others like Harrison.
The only team never to be relegated from top-flight UK rugby league! Warrington at position 26?
