Top 10 Best Things About Stoat
I did feature it in my list of Discord alternatives, but here are some of the app's most promising features.
-
Its slick interface
-
It's easy to use
I had a few bugs at first, but I chalk that up to it still being in development and can look past it. It's not that difficult to figure out, and I'm sure that with time, any bugs that remain will probably be fixed altogether. Making a server doesn't take too long, either.
-
The audio quality for VCs is great
Unlike Root, which had extremely laggy audio, the audio on Stoat is clear. You can understand others and yourself pretty easily. It's not perfect by any means, but it's got a solid enough foundation that makes it worthwhile and engaging.
-
There's tons of different server communities to join
Not all of them are winners, but you can find what you want to join and what you want to avoid fairly easily. It has a lot more communities than both Fluxer and Root do so far, and I think that goes without saying. It might have more features over time.
-
The app's mascot is a weasel
-
The app respects user privacy
-
There is no AI Age Verification
This was an important thing to me, which is why I ended up migrating to Stoat. It's not the only reason. I also dislike Discord's oversimplified UI, the new interface is kind of boring, the Quests feature is redundant, and using AI for moderation and age verification is not a smart idea, period.
-
The community is laidback
-
It has tons of potential
-
You can use it on a computer and on your phone
