Sonic the Hedgehog, trademarked Sonic The Hedgehog, is the title character and protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series released by SEGA, as well as numerous spin-off comics, five animated shows, and an animated OVA. Well, he is stated to be the fastest thing alive, and although there are others who can contend, I believe he is the fastest. He moved fast enough to switch dimensional planes and stop time before, not even mentioning his speed after his various transformations.
Besides that, I just love him overall.
Sonic has speed measurements in Sonic Unleashed, with his highest being 3519 SPD (or 6,051,022,551 mph), which is over 9 times faster than light. But even this isn't nearly as impressive as running through time to fix space in Sonic Generations.

I believe that Shadow is the fastest character because if you look at his ankles, he has the same rings that he has on his wrists. These rings limit his power. When Shadow takes the rings off his wrists, he gets a power-up in strength, speed, and power. I think the ones on his ankles do the same thing, except they give him more of his full power of speed. If this is correct, just think of how fast he really is. I believe he doesn't expose his true power because he does not want to be seen as a threat to humanity.
Shadow is not faster than Sonic, but he is badass and can catch up with Sonic. Some people say that he is Sonic's arch-rival, but Dr. Eggman is Sonic's true rival.
Miles "Tails" Prower is a fictional character in Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog series, and the title character's best friend and sidekick. I've heard that Tails can outrun the ultimate life form when he isn't using his chaos powers. This means that Tails actually beat him in a race, making Tails not only faster than Shadow but also the most powerful and smartest Mobian on Mobius. Both Turbo Tails and Titan Tails/Thanos Tails exist, and Super Tails has the power to turn others super, brainy, and powerful. Good job, SEGA.
Also, Tails can use chaos powers, so he is not just faster than Shadow but also stronger than him due to his connection to the chaos force.
The Mobians should fear the power he wields. Heck, he should be Shadow's worst nightmare since Shadow is afraid of heights, and Tails can lift both Sonic and Knuckles at the same time. Fear the name Miles "Tails" Prower, Shadow.
All he needs to do is lift both Omega and Big, and he'll truly be a Mobian to fear.

Silver is the best! I mean, he is so fast while flying, and his telekinesis powers are awesome. I sometimes wonder about Silver tearing Sonic into two pieces with his telekinesis powers. Silver is awesome!
Faster than Shadow. Shadow cheats by using jet boots, and Silver doesn't. Silver is almost as fast as Sonic.
Silver isn't a fast runner, but with his telekinesis, he is quite speedy. Sonic Generations 3DS shows he can run quickly. I don't think that's a bad thing because Silver is my favorite Sonic character.
Dark Sonic is a dark super transformation achieved by Sonic the Hedgehog in the anime series Sonic X. The multitude of fake Chaos Emeralds and Sonic's intense anger allowed him to achieve this transformation. Just Sonic who's really fast after a transformation, so he has to be fast.

Who has ever heard of a slow ninja? I get that he is a chameleon, but Sonic, Silver, and Shadow are hedgehogs, and they are slow in real life. Anyways, Espio is the cool type and actually my second favorite character. So I rate him fifth fastest.
This guy's consciousness is in every possible timeline of every possible reality at the same time. So, by default, he is without a doubt the fastest character.
