Top Ten Best Sonic the Hedgehog Songs
Everyone please note: this list includes level music as well. Enjoy!Nothing will ever beat this song because of what it represents. It is number one and will always be. It is just so iconic. The ARK falling to the planet and Sonic needing the help of the antagonist who's just realized his true purpose is not to get revenge, but to protect? Masterful. It is the main theme of the Sonic game that Sonic Team thought might be their last, and it shows. This song is the cherry on top and represents everything in the climax and entirety of Sonic Adventure 2. It may not represent Sonic's free-loving attitude, but it shows his heroic, rock and roll attitude in a way that will not and cannot be matched ever again.
"Rollin' around at the speed of sound! Got places to go, gotta follow my R-A-I-N-B-O-W! Can't stick around, have to keep moving on. Guess what lies ahead? Only one way to find out! Must keep on moving ahead! No time for guessing, follow my plan instead! Trusting in what you can't see. Take my lead, I'll set you free! Follow me, set me free, trust me and we will escape from the city! We'll make it through from me to you! Follow me! Oh yeah!
Danger is lurking around every turn. Trust your feelings, gotta live and learn! I know with some faith we'll make it through. Got no other options, only one thing to do! I don't care what lies ahead! No time for guessing, follow my plan instead! Find that next stage, no matter what that may be. Take my lead, I'll set you free! Follow me, set me free, trust me and we will escape from the city! I'll make it through! Follow me! Follow me! Set me free! Trust me and we'll escape from the city! I'll make it through, prove it to you! Follow me! Follow me! (Instrumental) Oh yeah! -Fade away-
This isn't just the best Sonic the Hedgehog song. This is one of the best video game songs EVER. Too catchy and inspirational. Not to mention, the game was FANTASTIC, considering what that time period was like for SEGA.
God! This song seriously pumps you up and makes you feel that you can do anything, which is quite inspirational. One of the true masterpieces of the Sonic franchise.
Ooh yeah. This song is awesome. It's so catchy, and it's kind of inspirational when I think about it. I love this song way too much.
This song gives off an epic vibe every time I hear it. Much like Live and Learn, this is the main theme of Adventure 1, but it is heard more, making it get stuck in your head better.
You opened your heart. But blood came out... Well, this song is really good, but I think it should've been in SA2.
Such a kick-ass theme for the theme of Perfect Chaos! I hear it and go, "Right, time to kick watery ass!"
Best song ever! My most favorite. I have it recorded on my iPad, and when I heard this the first time in the credits, I couldn't help but smile.
This song makes me feel like the sun never sets. It is the greatest and most positive song ever made.
It's very close between Live and Learn and this, but I have to give the edge to this.
This song is so catchy. It shows us exactly what Metal Sonic is thinking and gives us a dive into his personality, one we don't see nearly enough. It also shows the perfect dichotomy between Metal Sonic and Team Sonic. Team Sonic's theme is "We Can." It has the word "we" in its name. Meanwhile, Metal Sonic's final boss tune is "What I'm Made Of," with "I" in its name. They show the attitudes that differ between characters and how different Metal Sonic is from all our heroes we've been playing the entire game.
Sonic Heroes has notoriously the best soundtrack of any Sonic game in my opinion. It's got Team Chaotix, Sonic Heroes, and this one just to name a few! I feel that this would be a song that Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and Vector would ALL listen to, meshing several styles together to get a unique and original style that still corresponds fantastically with the other songs in the game. It is exceptionally motivational and has a very rocky sound in its format, making it very distinctly Sonic.
This song is amazing, unique, perfect, high-tech, emotional, and everything. Because it's the theme song for the best Sonic character ever (what, I like Silver), it makes it even more nostalgic. I mean, this should be No. 1. By the way, this song is higher on this list than All Hail Shadow, Never Turn Back, I Am... All of Me, Speak With Your Heart, and Knight of the Wind. It's not the best song in video game history (that would have to be Surely Someday from Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy), but it's number 2.
Like many Sonic songs, this is both very representative of Sonic the Hedgehog's image and philosophies, and paints life as an exciting adventure or action-packed journey. The part that stands out most to me is the chorus, which is mostly about real life: "Never fear the fall," never be afraid of things that might hurt or hinder you. Just keep going. "Every step meets the rest," everything falls into place, if not now, then in the end.
Another thing is that the background vocals say "His world" while the lead vocals say "This world." This creates a double meaning where what this song is saying is not only from Sonic the Hedgehog's view. It IS "this world." It is reality. All that this song is saying is the TRUTH about this world we live in.
I know, drawing three times in a row is technically cheating, but you know? I don't care! Both of these songs are epic and rock-themed. But the difference is a change in bands! Crush 40 does the main theme, while With Me, the final boss theme, is done by All Ends.
This song has some sort of underlying gritty, fierce might that is more than fit for a knight. It's fairly unlike anything Crush 40 has ever done for Sonic, and it's truly epic.
Best Sonic song. A perfect fusion of orchestrated beauty and hardcore guitars. The violins here go in, and that creates the best sound for my ears. I'm a sucker for anything orchestral and rock, so this just hits the sweet spot.
Showing the complex emotions and raw power displayed with Shadow, this song is an instant jaw-dropping masterpiece. The iconic opening notes instantly pull you into the world that Shadow is living in and bring you to a point where you can understand his perspective. The song brings a new genre to the Sonic franchise and it's a welcome addition. He's not just Shadow or the Ultimate Life-Form when you listen. He is all he can be. All of him.
One of the best parts of Shadow's game, this song perfectly captures Shadow's attitude and thoughts toward the world. The rock ballad style with the heavy guitar and drums gives it a more edgy flair, which is just what Shadow should have in a theme about his internal struggle.
The Newcomers
This song shows Super Sonic's overwhelming power. It shows why we should all be afraid of him. It shows Sonic's confidence, even under pressure. Going into the fight with Giganto, it seems like everything is stacked in Giganto's favor, but when this song kicks in, it reminds us that this is Super Sonic. A being who's slayed gods on a Tuesday. It reminds us that Giganto and any obstacles afterward have no chance of victory when they're against Sonic.
A masterpiece that veers from the typical Sonic format of high adrenaline and pop-esque sound, and instantly cemented itself as an incredible piece by doing so. It's definitely more serious and uncertain, giving off the vibe that Sonic also shares those same thoughts. It's sad, deep, and powerful with a booming chorus and spectacularly emotional vocals. This song certainly belongs with the greats.
A solemn opening breaking into a thrilling verse, then an invigorating climax of a chorus?! I can't believe this song is so low. There is a reason this is the main theme of the best-selling 3D Sonic game ever. It's majestic and energetic rolled into one. Stillness and motion simultaneously. This song lives and breathes Sonic Frontiers.
It's either this or the Zebrahead version of His World, which never plays in '06, while this one plays quite a few times.
The latest and the best song ever. Please listen and vote for it and also try the game. IT'S LIT! It has rap and pop elements.
This song makes me want to give SEGA a fist bump!
Upbeat opening and the lyrics go quicker. "Runnin' back again, well what you expect?" (Sorry if I got it wrong.)
This song is so epic. It's just a shame it is attached to such a mediocre character. Listening to this song makes me (and probably you) want to care about Infinite, but that's close to impossible. It really has all the elements for such a cool song, but it isn't even used in the game. This song is awesome, but tragic.
I absolutely love this song. It truly shows someone who has a lot of hate and wants to prove themselves as the most powerful being there is. DangerKids did a great job. Personally, I think it should be higher up. Definitely worth a listen for fans of Sonic.
When I think Sonic, this is what I think of! I remember playing this with my cousin on his GameCube and loving every second of it! Even after all these years, I still remember all the lyrics. When it plays over my speakers, I just can't help but get pumped up!
This song was what really got me into the Sonic music scene and made me a fan. I remember playing this game, and this theme song always got me so pumped every time! A perfect song to portray the teamwork at play!
I really liked this song. It's one of the more famous songs here, due to it being the same title as the game, and also it being SEGA's first multi-platform game. Crush 40 does another great job with this one.
Green Hill deserves to be at least #3. I guarantee you that even non-Sonic fans would recognize this theme immediately. THIS was the '90s. This is what you heard when you first learned about Sonic. Green Hill Zone is THE Sonic theme. None of the other themes can compare.
It's just original. This has to be on the list because if this wasn't created, the future music wouldn't be created.
I really love the Green Hill Zone theme. It brings back many nostalgic memories and is very iconic.
Awesome guitar and bass mixed in with the rock vocals. This song is awesome.
Honestly, I even like this song more than Shadow's other songs. It starts with that gloriously sad piano playing the notes for I Am All Of Me, and from there it descends into a lovely transition to a classic rock song. The verses are better than the chorus in my opinion, but I will never turn down listening to this one. It's sad, motivational, and determined all at once. Such a jam.
Never Turn Back kicks butt. The rock is good, the beat is good, and the lyrics are great. Crush 40, thank you for doing that song and making a music theme for Sonic Boom the game and TV show.
Super Sonic Racing! Try to keep your feet right on the ground! Super Sonic Racing! There's no time to look around!
This should be top 1! Screw every modern Sonic song with vocals! Go with classic Sonic!
Everybody's super sonic racing, gotta keep your feet right off the ground!
This song breaks from the typical Sonic mold by starting off with a beat that also includes a serious amount of electronic sound and three verses instead of just two. The guitar is awesome as always and the lyrics are perfect for a racing game, speaking about breaking free and "falling free into the wind." The rhyme scheme is also so on point it hurts! It's another awesome Crush 40 song that pairs expertly with its game!
This song is great! If only the game was great...
Love this song! Super catchy and fun!
Sonic: "…as long as the voice inside tells me to run and fight, it doesn't matter who is wrong, and who is right!"
Knuckles: "Are you seriously singing that song AGAIN?"
Sonic: *rips out earbuds* "NO, no. Who was singing?"
Knuckles: *rolls eyes*
This song doesn't represent anything significant very well, but it is fine because the music itself is wonderful. The thrill, the energy! This song blurs the line between chorus and verse in a dynamic way. It also does the rarely done move in a Sonic song of starting with the chorus. "All Hail Shadow" does mean something though: Shadow's overwhelming power.
Okay, I like this version better than the one from Shadow the Hedgehog, but no offense to anyone who likes the Shadow the Hedgehog version better. Just my opinion.
