Top 10 Most Annoying Things About Star Wars: The Old Republic
I was playing Old Republic, and when I was playing, a lot of things annoyed me, so here's a list.
-
Ignore list
It's really bad when you need to tell them something, especially when you were just asking something or joking.
-
Bothering you to subscribe
This one drives me crazy. There are restrictions everywhere, and it says that everywhere. It's not worth it to pay 50 every 60 days to me. The game says it's free.
-
Lag
This game lags so much when playing.
-
Enemies respawning every time you look away after you kill them
-
Trolls
When I was playing, some guy asked me to help him on a mission. I said yes, and when I came, he was on level 50 and I was on level 13. He said that he was trolling me.
-
Level EXP
It's really bad just doing side missions that waste your time just to get to the right level to play the game.
-
Not being able to play the game without being online
Why do you have to play online? You can do missions alone, and this is also the cause of lag.
-
Needing to be level 10 to chat
Need help on a mission? Well, good luck trying to tell someone that.
-
Broken items
When it's broken, it doesn't even work, and you have to repair it. Why would it break in the first place?
-
The claim that the game is free
The game forces you to buy it, and it's hard to play when you don't have the game.

Avatar combat moans and cries
As someone who wants a cold silent character, having them constantly moan and cry out when fighting enemies is extremely annoying and ruins my character. They should have a setting to disable just the mouth sounds.

Planets that take you to an orbital station instead of a surface spaceport
I hate having go thru the unnecessarily complex travel you have to go thru just to get to these planets. They seriously think it's necessary for you to go thru a 4-5 loading screen journey just to get to the planet you wanna go. They literally make you go from a ship airlock to an orbital station to a shuttle and then finally to the planet you wanna go instead of the much simpler and less time taking journey on planet's with on surface spaceports as you only have to go from the ship hanger to the spaceport, which is located right on the planet.
-
Gold sellers
Those dudes are so annoying.
-
Too many enemies
For once, I'd like to just explore the locations or travel to story areas without constantly having to avoid enemies. It's the worst when doing the story missions, as they always send you to the most heavily enemy-infested areas, where it's physically impossible to avoid fights due to the enemies either being too close together or right in front of the path that takes you where you wanna go.
And most of these enemies aren't even related to the story mission, as they exist outside the story area and therefore are unnecessary elements that prolong your actual story experience.
-
Speeder transports taking excessively complex routes
When you take a speeder taxi, they never just go in a straight line right to the destination. Instead, they go through numerous winding detours that, in many cases, take you way out of the way only to circle back around toward the destination. They also keep slowing down and entering unrelated stations like they are going to stop there, only to do a 360-degree turn back onto the path.
-
Boss battles that disable companion help
This is the worst thing they can do when you have to fight a boss with 2-3 times more health than you and ultra-powerful attacks, as it makes it impossible to properly fight the boss enemy without resorting to cowardly tactics. For my Sith Warrior, I had this happen twice.
The first was on Tatooine, where I was forced to fight 2 high-level Jedi bosses completely alone. The second was when I had to fight Draahg in the Hoth airlock, who had 2 times the health I had and ultra-powerful attacks that would take out a large portion of my health. In a game where I rely on my companion's tank role to take the enemy hits while I deal them, having that completely removed ruins my strategy and basically sets me up for failing.
-
Elevators leaving without you
When you have to ride the elevator platforms and you try to get to them, they always start rising without you, and you have to wait for them to come back down again.
-
Getting to a dynamic encounter right as it ends
As an XP farmer, I hate it when I go to a dynamic encounter location only to find that there's only a few minutes of it left and there's no way you can finish the task before it ends.
-
Level sync
Level sync forces you into an inferior level power scale. This means that your level 50 character can't just one-shot level 17 enemies on Kaas, as they will nerf your power to level 17 so those enemies will always be hard to take out, no matter how high a level you are at.
-
Enemies being unrealistically powerful on higher-level planets
There's no reason a simple soldier should have 10,000 health and have a powerful Force-wielding character struggle to take them out, even with companion help. This power scaling makes no sense from a lore standpoint, as a powerful Sith Lord should one-shot any non-Force-sensitive enemy.
-
Not being able to enter a story area when in combat
If you try to quickly enter a story area to avoid having to fight the outside enemies, you can't, as they will solidify the green phaser until you're out of combat, forcing you to fight off whatever enemy you wanted to avoid.
-
Inventory filling up too fast
When you go extended periods fighting enemies, and you go to collect the reward from the one you just took out, you get an error saying your inventory is full. It's even worse when you try to accept a completed mission reward, and it won't even accept it until the inventory is cleared out first.
-
Bad words in player character dialogue choices
I hate it when I choose a dialogue choice and my character decides to use bad words out of nowhere and without warning. And it's not like the dialogue choices tell you whether your choice has bad words or not, as they are often completely different from the actual spoken lines. As someone who hates bad words, having my own character avatar saying them is completely offensive and insulting.
-
Toxic players
-
System crashes
-
Other players doing dynamic encounter tasks right before you and having to wait for the tasks to respawn
I hate it when I try to do the various dynamic encounters on planets, and people always steal your tasks, either by killing enemies, using control panels, or taking items you were going to take. It's even worse when you think you've beaten another player, but they get the credit because they managed to get to the objective a split second before you.
-
Fall deaths having no "revive here" option
If you fall from a too-high place and die, they don't give you a revive here option like there is if you get taken out by an enemy. Instead, you are forced to be sent all the way back to a medical center and then have to make your way all the way back to the point where you were when you died.
