Top 10 Best Characters In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

This list compiles the best characters featured in J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated 2015 space opera film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Episode VII).

The Top Ten
  1. Kylo Ren

Kylo Ren, also known as Ben Solo, is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He commands the First Order with a temper as fiery as his unconventional lightsaber. Kylo Ren first appeared in the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. Ben Solo, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia... read more

One of the biggest surprises of this movie. I was afraid that he was going to be a typical badass villain with a menacing lightsaber, look, and voice without much background. Oh boy, was I wrong.

Kylo Ren may be a badass, but he's also a very emotional, intriguing, intimidating, and compelling villain. He feels conflicted, desires to return to the light side but doesn't have the courage to, and kills his father Han Solo, which added more to the emotional drama between Han and Leia. He also idolizes his grandfather Darth Vader (or Anakin Skywalker).

That's how you make a great villain. He has the makings of being a true competitor to Darth Vader.

  2. Han Solo

Han Solo is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. In the original film trilogy, he and his co-pilot, Chewbacca, become involved in the Rebel Alliance's fight against the Galactic Empire. Portrayed by Harrison Ford, Han Solo was also the focus of the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, in which... read more

Han Solo only appeared in the first of the three movies, and his scenes were still better than all the other characters' scenes. His death gave us the shock and violence we got used to seeing in Star Wars, and it was an iconic moment.

Han Solo was the greatest thing to have ever happened in the history of Star Wars. He's my hero. Unlike other characters in the franchise, he was always the cool guy we all know and love. He's the best.

Still the best. But out of the new characters, I would say Rey, even though she's overpowered and kind of broke the Force, in my opinion.

  3. Rey

Rey is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise and is portrayed by British actress Daisy Ridley. She made her first appearance as the central protagonist in the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Rey begins as a solitary scavenger on the desert planet Jakku, where she was abandoned as... read more

Rey is incredible. She is cool. Her story fascinated me. As a child, she was left on Jakku and managed to survive until the age of 19, when she leaves with Finn and the Millennium Falcon.

She is a great pilot, even though no one taught her. She constantly proves that she can be better than others, especially the guys. She leaves without her parents ever returning and starts fighting alongside the Resistance. She had some personal lows, like when Finn tried to leave. I think she likes him, either as a friend or maybe as something more, I don't know.

Later, she is kidnapped by Ren and escapes on her own. Minutes later, she watches Han Solo die and is devastated. Then Finn falls into a coma, and she has to fight Ren and get away. Later, she has to leave Finn again, and considering that she whispers, "We'll see each other again. I feel it. Thank you, my friend." as she kisses him on the forehead, I think she really likes him. Maybe there is something more to come.

  4. Finn

FN-2187, better known as Finn, is a character from the Star Wars franchise. He made his first appearance in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where he is introduced as a stormtrooper for the First Order who decides to defect after being horrified by the group's actions. Finn is portrayed by... read more

Out of everyone in The Force Awakens, I think Finn is my favorite character. We have always seen stormtroopers as goons who shoot badly, but Finn showed that not every stormtrooper wants to be one. John Boyega did a fantastic job playing this character, and I can't wait to see him in Episode 8.

Rey, unfortunately, in my opinion, is a Mary Sue. Kylo Ren, unfortunately, is a Vader wannabe. But Finn? He is 100% unique! Everything about him is so different from everyone else, plus he is really funny! Well, Rey and he are both funny.

  5. Poe Dameron

Poe Dameron is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He was introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is portrayed by actor Oscar Isaac. Dameron is a skilled pilot and a key member of the Resistance, known for his bravery and loyalty in the fight against the First Order... read more

  6. Chewbacca

Chewbacca, nicknamed "Chewie," is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk and serves as the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon. Chewbacca is portrayed by Peter Mayhew in the Original Trilogy and is known for his loyalty to Han Solo.

He shot Kylo in the gut, then went on a rampage, which was my favorite moment aside from the lightsaber duel at the end.

Give the Wookie your vote since no one will give him a medal or a hug!

  7. Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker is a fictional character appearing as the central protagonist of the original Star Wars film trilogy and as a supporting character in the sequel trilogy of the Star Wars universe created by George Lucas. He is portrayed by Mark Hamill. Luke is a Jedi Knight who plays a crucial role in... read more

Captain Phasma is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed by actress Gwendoline Christie. She was introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is the first film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Phasma serves as the commander of the First Order's stormtrooper forces.

Amazing character if you read the Phasma book. Phasma's iconic, never-before-seen armor made me really interested in her. I like the idea of Phasma being a female villain, as you don't really see that in Star Wars. I was disappointed to see Phasma's screen time in The Force Awakens, but I'm glad that they at least added her to the movie.

  9. Princess Leia Organa

Princess Leia Organa, later known as General Leia Organa, is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. She was portrayed in the films by actress Carrie Fisher. Leia is one of the central characters in the original Star Wars trilogy and plays a prominent leadership role in the Resistance in the... read more

  10. BB-8

BB-8, also known as Beebee-Ate, is a spherical droid character in the Star Wars franchise. The character first appeared in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. BB-8 serves as the astromech droid companion to Resistance pilot Poe Dameron.

BB-8 is a great addition to the Star Wars movies, especially in number 7 (The Force Awakens). He helps to hide the information that leads to Luke Skywalker, and I also like how he runs/rolls! It's really funny!

  17. C-3PO

C-3PO is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. 18. Supreme Leader Snoke

Supreme Leader Snoke is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He served as the mysterious leader of the First Order and played a major role in the sequel trilogy. Snoke is a CGI character portrayed and voiced by Andy Serkis.

A character who resembles a cross between Voldemort from Harry Potter and Gollum from Middle-earth. His true identity is not known. He could be any character from the past movies, spin-offs, and games, and he's the "Supreme Leader" of the First Order.

    So much mystery surrounds Snoke.

  19. Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, portrayed by Sir Alec Guinness in the original trilogy and by Ewan McGregor in the prequel trilogy. The character is a Jedi Master who plays a pivotal role in the training of both Anakin and Luke Skywalker. Obi-Wan also appears in the... read more

  25. Maz Kanata

Maz Kanata is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, she is a CGI character voiced and performed through motion capture by Lupita Nyong'o. Maz is a wise and ancient alien who runs a tavern on the planet Takodana.

She's an orange and weaker version of Yoda, mixed with E.T. in looks. She brought Rey toward a nightmare tunnel. You should feel bad for her after her castle got destroyed by the First Order.

    Funniest character in the movie!

  26. Kaydel Ko Connix
