Best Characters In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

This list compiles the best characters featured in J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated 2015 space opera film, 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' (Episode VII).
The Top Ten
1 Kylo Ren Kyle Ren, also known as Ben Solo, is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Kylo Ren commands the First Order with a temper as fiery as his unconventional lightsaber. Ren first appeared in 2015's Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Ben Solo, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia, was trained at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy, but turned to the dark side under the influence of Supreme Leader Snoke. In the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Kylo Ren is portrayed by Adam Driver.

One of the biggest surprises of this movie. I was afraid that he was going to be a typical badass villain with a menacing, lightsaber, look and voice without much background about him. Oh boy, was I wrong. Kylo Ren may be a badass but he's also a very emotional, intriguing, intimidating and compelling villain. A villain who feels conflicted, who has the desire to go back to the light side but doesn't have the courage to, kills his father Han Solo which added more to the emotional drama between Han and Leia, and also idolizing his grandfather Darth Vader (or shall I say Anakin Skywalker). That's how you make a great villain. He has the makings of being a true competitor to Darth Vader.

When people call him a wimp, think about it for a second. What conflict this poor guy is suffering through, and everything in between. He's practically being torn apart, as he said in the movie himself. To me, he is no wimp, but a fighter, because he's been through a lot, guys, and even though he killed his own father, he has his reasons.

I was constantly afraid that he'll become a hysterical ass. But he was very reasonable, charismatic and emotional character. He wasn't bad for the sake of being bad (like Hitler-esque Hux or medichlorian-absolution Snoke). He is motivated, yet confused between the sides and he is very intimidating and tactical.

Ren is certainly not as intimidating as previous villains of Star Wars in this film, but I'll say this: he certainly was improved upon in The Last Jedi.

Also is just me or does he look a lot more like a younger, sci-fi equivalent of Severus Snape?

2 Han Solo Han Solo is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. In the original film trilogy, Han and his co-pilot, Chewbacca, become involved in the Rebel Alliance which opposes the Galactic Empire. He is primarily portrayed by Harrison Ford. Han Solo served as the focus of the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, where he is portrayed by Alden Ehrenreich.

Han Solo only appeared in the first of the three movies and his scenes we're still better than all of the other characters' scenes. His death gave us the shock and violence that we got use to seeing in Star Wars and it was an iconic moment.

Han Solo was the greatest thing to have ever happened in the history of Star Wars. He's my hero. Unlike other characters in the franchise, he was always the cool guy we all know and love. He's the Best.

Still the best. But out of the new characters I would say Rey even though she's overpowered and kind of broke the Force in my opinion

R.I.P. Han Solo, you will never be forgotten, F your son Kylo Ren.

3 Rey Rey is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed by British actress Daisy Ridley. First appearing as the central character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey is a scavenger who was left behind on the planet Jakku when she was a child, and later becomes involved with the Resistance's conflict with the First Order when her solitary life is interrupted by BB-8, the droid of ace Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, and the runaway Stormtrooper Finn.

Rey is incredible. She is coool. Her story fascinated me. As a child she was left on Jakku, and got herself through until the age of 19 at which she leaves with Finn and the Milenium Falcon. She is a great Pilot, even though no one taught her. She constantly keeps proving that she can be better than somebody, especially the guys. She leaves without her Parents ever returning, and starts fighting alongside the Resistance. Also she had some other personal lows, like when Finn tried to leave, and I think she does like him, either as a friend, or maybe as something else, I don't know. Later she is kidnapped by Ren and gets out by herself, minutes later she watches Han Solo die and is devastated. Then Finn falls into a coma, she has to fight Ren, and get away. Later she has to leave Finn again, and considering that she whispers "We'll see each other again. I feel it. Thank you, my friend." as she kisses him on the forehead, I think she really likes him, and maybe there is something else to ...more

Rey is a revolutionary character as she is the 1st female lead in a movie that normally has only one female in the entire trilogy, but she's so much more. I love her, and I don't care 5hat other people on this site think rte hat she is a Mary Sue.

Quite an interesting character. it's pretty fair to say that Daisy Ridley has a very bright future ahead of her because she had some of the best acting I've ever seen in Star Wars. I know I may be overrate, but that's just me.

My guess is, she'll be some kind of a main focus in the new trilogy. And that is certainly good, together with Kylo Ren, she is probably the most interesting and intriguing new character.

4 Finn FN-2187 (Finn) is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He first appeared in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens in which he is a stormtrooper for the First Order who flees and turns against it after being shocked by their cruelty in his first combat mission. He is portrayed by English actor John Boyega, who reprises the role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Out of everyone in The Force Awakens, I think Finn is my favorite character. We have always seen stormtroopers as goons who shot bad, Finn showed that not every stormtrooper wants to be one. John Boyega did a fantastic job playing this character and I can't wait to see him in Episode 8.

Rey unfortunately in my opinion is a Mary sue, kylo ren unfortunately is a Vader wannabe, but Finn? He is 100% unique! Everything about him is so different from everyone else plus he is really funny! Well, Rey and him are both funny.

He's the only good character in the movie along with Maz Kanata.

5 Chewbacca Chewbacca, nicknamed "Chewie", is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. A Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. Chewbacca is the co-pilot of the Millenuim Falcon alongside his best friend Han Solo. Chewbacca was portrayed by Peter Mayhew in the Original Trilogy.

He shot kylo in the gut the went on a rampage which was my favorite moment aside from the lightsaber duel at the end.

Give the Wookie your vote since no one will give him a medal or a hug!

6 Poe Dameron Poe Dameron is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he is portrayed by Oscar Isaac.

The new pilot

I like the guy

7 Luke Skywalker Luke Skywalker is a fictional character appearing as the central protagonist of the original film trilogy, and as a supporting character in the sequel trilogy of the Star Wars universe created by George Lucas. He is portrayed by Mark Hamill.
8 Phasma Captain Phasma is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed by Gwendoline Christie. Introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Phasma is the commander of the First Order's force of stormtroopers.

Amazing character if you read the Phasma book. Phasma's iconic never before seen armour made me really interested in phasma. I like the idea of Phasma being a female villain as you don't really see that in Star Wars, I was disappointed to see Phasma's screen time in the Force Awakens, but I'm glad that at least added her to the movie.

I didn't really like her here, but mi production is that she will have a great role in the sequels

9 Princess Leia Organa Princess Leia Organa, later known as General Leia Organa, is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed in films by Carrie Fisher.

She's an original.

And she's hot.

10 BB-8 BB-8 or Beebee-Ate is a droid character in the Star Wars franchise, first appearing in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

BB-8 is a great addition to the Star Wars movies especially in number 7 (The Force Awakens). He helps to hide the information that leads to Luke Skywalker and I also like how he runs/rolls! It's really funny!

The Contenders
11 R2-D2 R2-D2 or Artoo-Detoo is a fictional robot character in the Star Wars universe created by George Lucas, who appears in the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, and the sequel trilogy.
12 General Hux General Armitage Hux is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. First introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he is portrayed by Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson.
13 C-3PO C-3PO is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. A protocol droid, interpreter, and best friend of R2-D2, C-3PO was built by a young Anakin Skywalker, later serving alongside Anakin's children, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa. C-3PO appeared in each film of the Skywalker Saga, portrayed by Anthony Daniels
14 Supreme Leader Snoke Supreme Leader Snoke is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Snoke served as the mysterious leader of the First Order. Supreme Leader Snoke is a CGI character voiced and performed by Andy Serkis.

A character who resembles a cross between Voldemort from Harry Potter and Gollum from Middle Earth, yet his true identity is not known, he could be any character from the past movies, spin-offs and games, and he;s the "Supreme Leader" of the First Order.

So much mystery surrounds Snoke.

15 Obi-Wan Kenobi Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, played by Sir Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor.
16 Yoda Yoda is a fictional character in the Star Wars space opera franchise created by George Lucas, first appearing in the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back. He is portrayed by Frank Oz.
17 Bala-Tik
18 Unkar Plutt
19 Admiral Statura
20 FN-2199 (TR-8R)
21 Maz Kanata Maz Kanata is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, she is a CGI character voiced and performed through motion capture by Lupita Nyong'o.

She's an orange and weaker version of Yoda, mixed with E.T. in looks, and she brought Rey towards a nightmare tunnel, yet you guys should feel bad for her after her castle got destroyed by the First Order.

Funniest character in the movie!
