Best New Super Mario Bros. Games

The Top Ten
1 New Super Mario Bros.

So many people on this site say they prefer NSMBU over the other three NSMB games. I agree the series has gotten repetitive by recycling Koopaling battles and sharing the same soundtrack. Okay, that goes for the three later games in the series actually.

If you take a look at the first game in the series, New Super Mario Bros., you will see that this game is very unique and different from the later three games. This game doesn't have Koopalings as bosses. Each world here has their own unique boss.

The soundtrack in each world is good and catchy. The levels are difficult and unique. Yeah, you name it. It's definitely the hardest game in the NSMB series. That's a good thing also.

And here's the best thing about the game: Minigames. Minigames are so addicting in this game. Most are borrowed from Super Mario 64 DS. But for those who don't own that game, it can be nice to play those minigames too. This game is easily the best in this series.

2 New Super Mario Bros. Wii

This was the first game in the series I got. So I guess it makes it the most nostalgic one. This game brought back Koopalings after such a long absence. I loved that! I remember fighting Larry Koopa for the first time. Such memories.

The soundtracks are all so good! But they were almost all used in later NSMB games too.

My biggest problem with it is that it is too generic. Not all levels were that memorable. The desert world was so annoying to get through, I was stuck on it for weeks, and Roy Koopa was so hard back then. But I really like this game.

3 New Super Mario Bros.U Deluxe
4 New Super Mario Bros. U

Many people consider this to be the best in the series. I think it's a great game, but I don't see how it can be better than the DS version. Even those here that despise Koopalings say this game is better than the DS version. Weird, since the DS version is way more unique.

Well, I still respect opinions, so anyway, let's talk about this game. I can see why people love the game. This game was at least more unique than Wii and 2. There are some new soundtracks, and the levels are definitely great.

The Koopalings were so cool in this game, to be honest. I loved all the boss battles in this game, including Larry Koopa's. I liked that they brought back Torpedo Teds and Sumo Bros from Super Mario World, since those enemies were cool in my opinion.

There are also some new characters and enemies. One of the most interesting new characters in the game is Nabbit, a guy that kidnaps Toad in some levels. There's also an acorn suit, which is similar to the Raccoon Suit, except it's better. I think it's a really great game!

5 New Super Mario Bros. 2

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is my least favourite game in the NSMB series simply because of how bland, generic, and lazy it is! This is pretty much a 3DS port of the Wii version but worse. You can tell they were rushing through the game while making it.

There are only six worlds. The three bonus worlds aren't any better either. But seriously though, there's only grass, desert, water, snow, sky, and lava. Okay, the second half of the water world is jungle but the music doesn't change when you enter the jungle part.

The Koopalings battles range from boring to unbearable. I guess Ludwig and Morton had cool boss fights, but the rest were just bad. The soundtracks are all ported from the Wii version. The only new soundtracks are Reznor Theme, World Mushroom, World Flower, and World Star. The rest are copied and pasted from the Wii version!

It's not a horrible game though. I did enjoy playing the game and I enjoyed World Star-Castle, but the rest are just lazy work. It's an okay game, I guess.
