Top 10 Best Paper Mario Chapters

The Top Ten
1 Chapter 7: A Star Spirit on Ice In this chapter, Mario travels to Shiver City, a snowy town located near Shiver Mountain. Mario investigates the disappearance of a Star Spirit named Kalmar, who is being held captive by the Crystal King in the Crystal Palace. The chapter concludes with Mario rescuing Kalmar after defeating the Crystal King.

One of the best Paper Mario chapters of all time. It has the best music, characters, areas, enemies, and dungeon in the game, along with the best boss. It also has the second-best aesthetic in the game, only beaten by Chapter 4.

Best chapter in the whole series.

2 Chapter 5: Hot, Hot Times on Lavalava Island Mario and his companions journey to Lavalava Island, a tropical location where they must scale Mt. Lavalava. There, Mario encounters the Lava Piranha, who is holding the Star Spirit, Misstar, captive. After defeating the Lava Piranha, Mario successfully rescues Misstar.

This is just a really solid chapter. There's not much else to say, but I will say more regardless. I love exploring Jade Jungle to find the Yoshi Kids, Yoshi Village is a great town area, Mt. Lavalava is a good dungeon, and Lava Piranha is an amazing boss. I'll admit, I really don't like the enemies in this chapter, but overall, I have few complaints.

3 Chapter 3: The "Invincible" Tubba Blubba Mario enters the haunted Forever Forest, eventually arriving at Boo's Mansion to learn about Tubba Blubba. Tubba Blubba is seemingly invincible due to his separated heart, which Mario must locate and destroy. After defeating him, Mario rescues the third Star Spirit, Skolar.

Another one of the best chapters in the series and my second favorite from this game. Forever Forest and Gusty Gulch were really cool areas. Lady Bow is my third-favorite partner, Boo's Mansion is a unique dungeon with puzzles instead of enemies, and Tubba Blubba's Castle is an even cooler dungeon with stealth sections, puzzles, and a chase sequence. Tubba's Heart was also an amazing boss.

Second-best chapter in the series.

This is awesome.

4 Chapter 4: Trials in the Toy Box Mario travels into Shy Guy's Toy Box, a whimsical and colorful world hidden in Toad Town. Inside, Mario must solve puzzles and defeat General Guy, the leader of the Shy Guys, who has been causing trouble. By defeating General Guy, Mario rescues the Star Spirit, Muskular.

This needs to be number one! Seriously, this is one of the best chapters in all of Paper Mario history!

5 Chapter 2: The Mystery of Dry, Dry Ruins Mario ventures into the arid Dry Dry Desert, searching for the ancient Dry Dry Ruins. He uncovers the entrance to the ruins and battles Tutankoopa, the tomb's guardian. After defeating Tutankoopa, Mario saves the Star Spirit, Mamar.

I am astonished at how low Chapter 2 is on the list. It should at least be in the top three. It's my third favorite chapter in the game and one of the best in the series! I love exploring Mt. Rugged to find Parakarry's letters. Dry Dry Desert is the most expansive area in the game, Dry Dry Outpost is my second-favorite town area (right behind Shiver City), and Dry Dry Ruins is my third-favorite dungeon (behind Crystal Palace and Tubba Blubba's Castle). Tutankoopa is also an amazing boss.

I love desert stages! They are my absolute favorite. This deserves at least second place!

6 Chapter 6: Dark Days in Flower Fields Mario is transported to Flower Fields, a land of flowers in distress due to the presence of Huff N. Puff, a giant cloud. Mario must gather magical seeds and defeat Huff N. Puff to restore sunlight to the area. In the process, Mario rescues the Star Spirit, Klevar.
7 Chapter 8: A Star-Powered Showdown! Mario infiltrates Bowser's Castle, which is now a flying fortress powered by the Star Rod. He confronts Bowser in a final battle, utilizing the power of the Star Beam to counter the Star Rod's magic. Mario defeats Bowser and rescues Princess Peach, restoring peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.

It was a good challenge, especially with the bosses at the end.

8 Chapter 1: Storming Koopa Bros. Fortress Mario begins his quest by pursuing the Koopa Bros., who have captured the first Star Spirit, Eldstar. After navigating their fortress and solving traps, Mario engages the Koopa Bros. in battle. He defeats them and frees Eldstar from their clutches.
9 Prologue: A Plea from the Stars The game opens with Bowser stealing the Star Rod and kidnapping Princess Peach from her castle. The Star Spirits send a message to Mario, asking for his help in defeating Bowser. This prologue sets the stage for Mario's adventure to rescue the Star Spirits and save the kingdom.
10 Opening The game begins with Mario receiving an invitation to a party at Princess Peach's Castle. Bowser crashes the party, using the Star Rod to make himself invincible and abducting Peach along with her castle. Mario is defeated by Bowser but is soon rescued by the Star Spirits, who guide him on his journey.
