Top 10 Best Modern Fighter Jets

The Top Ten
  1. F-22 Raptor

The F-22 Raptor is a fifth-generation stealth fighter developed by Lockheed Martin for the United States Air Force. It entered service in 2005 and is equipped with advanced avionics, supercruise capability, and stealth technology. The aircraft combines air superiority roles with limited ground attack and electronic warfare capabilities.

This thing can destroy five F-15Es on its own and eight with two Raptors, meaning a standard 4th generation fighter can easily be destroyed by it. The jet can easily air strike as it can carry bombs, and it's easier to bomb with its extremely advanced stealth technology, which is only beaten by a few aircraft (B2 Spirit, YF-23, etc.), allowing it to get extremely close before being detected.

It is capable of "supercruise," allowing it to go at sonic cruising speeds. The jet has some of the best maneuverability, which allows for easier dogfights. What do you expect? It's Lockheed Martin.

The F-22 is the latest in fifth-generation stealth fighter technology. Although hardly combat-tested compared to many others on this list, the F-22 is so advanced and so much time and design have gone into it that I think it would perform the best in a multi-role combat situation. The only huge flaw is that only 187 operational combat F-22s exist due to their immense cost and other production issues.

  2. Su-30MKI

The Su-30MKI is a twin-engine multirole fighter aircraft jointly developed by Russia's Sukhoi and India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. It features thrust-vectoring engines and advanced avionics tailored to Indian Air Force requirements. The jet is capable of long-range missions and is equipped for both air superiority and strike operations.

It has tremendous speed and can move in any direction quicker than any other fighter. It has very presentable looks. I think it deserves to top the list.

  3. Eurofighter Typhoon

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine, canard-delta wing multirole fighter developed by a consortium of European aerospace companies. It entered operational service in the early 2000s with several NATO member nations. The aircraft is designed for both air-to-air combat and ground-attack missions.

Europe's way of protecting their skies, some people consider EF 2000 as a great competitor to the F-22 Raptor. Little is to their knowledge that canards are the best way to ensure full-proof detection on an enemy radar system, and Typhoon has canards. So, the stealth factor is no longer present.

However, the fact that this is one of the most agile fighters in the world, and the weapons system integrated onboard is state of the art, not to mention the avionics and superior performance.

The F-22 Raptor is good, but in a World War 3 scenario, the F-22 Raptor will not be the main NATO jet. NATO and the fate of the world will have to rely on the Eurofighter. The British always make the best fighters. In WWI they had the best planes, in WWII they had the best planes, and surely they must have the best now as well.

  4. Su-57

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter developed by Russia's Sukhoi Design Bureau. It first flew in 2010 and entered limited service with the Russian Air Force in the 2020s. The aircraft incorporates stealth shaping, supercruise capability, and advanced avionics for air superiority and strike missions.

  5. F-35 Lightning II

The F-35 Lightning II is a family of stealth multirole fighters designed by Lockheed Martin, with variants for conventional takeoff, carrier operations, and short takeoff and vertical landing. It first flew in 2006 and entered service in the 2010s with multiple allied nations. The aircraft integrates advanced stealth, sensor fusion, and network-centric capabilities.

Fantastic. Low cost, high performance, weaponry, and practically unrivaled stealth capabilities. It is, without a doubt, number one.

PS: It also has STOVL capabilities.

  6. F-15C Eagle

The F-15C Eagle is a twin-engine air superiority fighter developed by McDonnell Douglas and optimized for air-to-air combat. It entered service in 1979 as an improved version of the original F-15A. The aircraft features increased fuel capacity, updated avionics, and enhanced combat endurance.

  7. Dassault Rafale

The Dassault Rafale is a twin-engine multirole fighter designed and built by Dassault Aviation for the French Air Force and Navy. It is capable of conducting air supremacy, interdiction, reconnaissance, and nuclear deterrence missions. The aircraft features advanced avionics, electronic warfare systems, and compatibility with a wide range of weapons.

Just the best actual fighter guys. It can do everything you want. In fact, take the best of every plane and put it into one airfighter. Better than Typhoon for a lower price and maintenance cost, it can bomb, fight, recon, nuke, and dogfight. It is at least as good as the F-22 and cuts the Typhoon and the F-16 into little pieces.

It can land on an aircraft carrier, has AESA radar, Spectra system, can fire missiles in 180 degrees, and will have Meteor. It is the only jet fighter to make so many different missions in one fly and the only one that can carry 1.5 times its own weight. It was combat proven in air-ground attack in hostile environments, which is not the case for a lot of modern airfighters.

Every time a pilot flies with Rafale, he agrees to say that it is the most stunning aircraft. And it is getting better and better. If you're not convinced, just do some research, you'll see. Last but not least, it's the sexiest plane.

  8. F/A-18E Super Hornet

The F/A-18E Super Hornet is a twin-engine, carrier-capable multirole fighter developed by Boeing for the United States Navy. It is a larger and more advanced derivative of the original F/A-18 Hornet. The aircraft performs strike, air superiority, and reconnaissance missions while operating from aircraft carriers.

The F/A-18 is basically a beautiful 4th-generation fighter and is just original. A beautiful all-around plane, naval, bombing, air-to-air, and electronic warfare. The last of its kind.

A multi-role, carrier-based, and fast-maneuvering fighter, the F-18 Hornet and Super Hornet have provided the Navy with superb planes suitable for a wide array of missions since '83 and '99, respectively.

Everyone's saying the F-15 is the best. They obviously know nothing about this plane.

  9. F-16 Fighting Falcon

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole fighter originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force. It first entered service in 1978 and has since been exported to more than 25 countries. The jet is known for its versatility, high maneuverability, and relatively low production cost.

Multirole, very agile, as fast as an F-22, and faster than an F/A-18 and F-35. Has over 70 air combat kills. A benchmark 4th Gen fighter that set the standards for planes like the Rafale and Typhoon. Can still hold its own against anything. Not to be underestimated in dogfights, it was the most maneuverable fighter in the US military until the arrival of the F-22.

Fast, agile, and good for close combat.

  10. JF-17 Thunder

The JF-17 Thunder is a lightweight multirole fighter jointly developed by Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and China's Chengdu Aircraft Corporation. It entered service with the Pakistan Air Force in 2007. The aircraft is designed for air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, with an emphasis on affordability and ease of maintenance.

High performance, low fuel consumption, and great turning in any direction. An amazing fighter jet.

The main fighter jet of the world's seventh-largest air force.

Cheap, fast, and a multi-role jet fighter.

  14. The Contenders
  15. F-15E Strike Eagle

The F-15E Strike Eagle is a twin-engine multirole strike fighter developed by McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing. Entering service in the late 1980s, it was designed for long-range interdiction missions without relying on escort fighters. The aircraft retains strong air superiority capabilities while carrying a large payload of precision-guided munitions.

Up until recently, the F-22 wasn't operational. Until then, the F-15 Eagle constructed the top of the line air defense and offense for the United States and therefore still has the factor to operate and maintain air superiority over a region against any threat.

This plane goes way faster than the F-22, is more reliable, just as maneuverable, can be used as a bomber, is less expensive, and has never been shot down. It has a bigger bomb payload, farther range, and has been in service longer. It also has stealth variants, such as the F-15S, or "Silent Eagle."

  16. F-14 Tomcat

The F-14 Tomcat was a twin-engine, variable-sweep wing fighter developed by Grumman for the United States Navy. It first flew in 1970 and entered service in 1974, serving as the Navy's primary air superiority fighter for decades. The aircraft was retired from U.S. service in 2006 but continues to operate with Iran's Air Force.
