The Spartans
The Spartans were the epitome of a warrior society. Only Spartan men were considered true men, and only Spartan women were believed to give birth to real men. However, their extreme discipline also contributed to their downfall.
For example, any flaw in a baby led to it being abandoned. In the Agoge, their rigorous training program, many boys did not survive. Imagine if all the boys had survived and returned. The Spartans would have had larger numbers, more warriors, and more bloodshed. The Spartans were the best warriors and the most feared army of all time. Unfortunately, the very traits that made them exceptional warriors also contributed to the collapse of their empire.

Ancient Turko-Mongolian Steppe Warriors
For thousands of years, ancient Turkic-Mongolian armies had many victories against their enemies, especially their main enemy, China. They also had many defeats because of China's population superiority. The old Turkic migrant lifestyle pushed them to live as a herdsman-warrior people. They weren't used to having a special army because the whole population was an army.
Old Turkic-Mongolian people lived their lives on horses. They had a stocky build, with relatively short but strong legs. There weren't any infantrymen during war.
They also had really strong bows that could shoot targets from much longer distances than Chinese warriors could. These specialties helped them apply their steppe war strategies and made them great warriors.
All these and more specialties have allowed Turkic and Mongolic people to still exist. In history, there are many great states based on Turko-Mongolian culture, including the Great Hunnic Empire, Western Hunnic Empire, White Hunnic Empire, Göktürk Empire, Uighur State, Great Timur Empire, and more.

The Ninjas
Ninjas were among the most skilled warriors in history. They were incredibly proficient in a variety of weapons and tactics. To put their abilities into perspective, it might take around 5,000 medieval soldiers to invade a castle, while just 10 ninjas could accomplish the same task. There were even claims that one ninja could kill hundreds of opponents at a time.
Ninjas invented many weapons, including grenades, smoke bombs, nail mats, and even snorkels. They made their grenades by filling an eggshell with gunpowder and igniting it later. Smoke bombs were similarly made by filling an eggshell with smoke-producing materials, which could then be smashed open. Nail mats were created by filling an eggshell with small metal spikes that would scatter upon breaking. The snorkel was a simple yet effective device made by using a hollow bamboo pole to breathe through.
Ninjas were often compared to samurai, with one ninja supposedly being equal in skill to at least ten samurai. They were mercenaries and assassins who worked for the highest bidder, although they often avoided large-scale battles. Their homes were said to have secret passages, and their stealth skills were so impressive that people believed they could turn invisible. Ninjas were also thought to be invincible because they wore chainmail armor under their robes, which provided protection against daggers and arrows.
Ninjas could scale castle walls with ease and were highly agile. Interestingly, unlike most armies on this list, ninjas included both men and women, with about a quarter of all ninjas being female. Their swords were incredibly well-made and could supposedly penetrate knight armor with a single blow.... read more
