Esdeath
General Esdeath, also known simply as Esdeath, is the secondary antagonist of the manga Akame ga Kill! and its 2014 anime adaptation. She is a high-ranking general of the Empire and possesses powerful ice-based abilities. Esdeath is known for her ruthless personality and complex relationship with the... read more
Just a polarizing character. She's far from one-dimensional. Her dad raised her to fend for herself and only view life as the strong above the weak. He wasn't nurturing, and her perception of the world was forever tainted.
Until she met Tatsumi, she could not imagine sentiment, having never really grasped what it meant to lose a truly loved one. Her dad forbade her from lamenting his passing, and she was too young to really know her mother.
Sadly, but also positively, she dies cradling the one person she loved and was willing to fight for. She stated she wouldn't let anything happen to him, even when he was imprisoned. I think she couldn't bring herself to torture him.

Akame
Akame, also known as Akame of the Demon Sword Murasame, is the titular deuteragonist alongside Tatsumi and the lead anti-heroine of the manga series Akame ga Kill!. She is also the main protagonist of the prequel manga Akame ga Kill! Zero. Akame is a highly skilled assassin known for her stoicism and... read more
She might not look like she cares, but she does. Remember the time she pulled off Tatsumi's shirt? It's because she didn't want him to hide his injuries. She always hides her emotions and makes people think she deals with it, but it's because she's used to it.
She was my favorite from the start. Such a badass killer. She is still my number one swordsman in all anime, even though this anime is not at the top of my list. I literally enjoyed her in every scene.
I love Akame. I mean, she is one of the few characters that actually has great development. She reminds me of Blake Belladonna from RWBY.

Chelsea
Chelsea was one of the two new members who joined Najenda's Night Raid branch alongside Susanoo. She possessed the Imperial Arm Gaea Foundation, which allowed her to transform her appearance. Chelsea later died while on a mission, marking one of the more emotional moments in the series.
She was the best character ever. I wish she had gotten to live a peaceful life with Tatsumi, but she instead got the worst death in the entire series. I'm so sad every time I think about her, and I can't get her off my mind.
I love to think that she meets up with Tatsumi in the afterlife, as it is implied that there is an afterlife in the series. I hate Kurome and Seryu for what they did to her. R.I.P Chelsea, you're the best.
I was sad when she died, having transitioned to being accepted by the team, but it made sense, as she took risks she wouldn't normally take.

Lubbock
Lubbock was born into a wealthy family and had access to anything he wanted. However, he chose to fake his own death to join the revolutionary group Night Raid. After being accepted, he was given the Imperial Arms known as Cross Tail, a powerful string-based weapon that can be used in countless ways... read more
Lubbock is an amazing character. He was born into a rich family and could have had whatever he wanted, yet he chose to fake his death and join Night Raid. He was the most relatable character, and he was smart enough not to plunge into a fight he knew he would lose.
Also, I liked the way he gained ideas on how to use his weapon by reading manga. I was so sad that he died, but he accepted his death and died with a smile. He was just trying to make the world a better place, and he made the show. Also, I ship him with Tatsumi, but that's just my opinion.
Lubbock was just wonderful. In an anime in which all of the battles are just explosions and screams, a competition of who farts louder, every battle of his was an absolute pleasure to watch.
Besides, he was the smartest, the funniest, and one of the cutest things I've seen in the last year!

Mine
Honestly, she's the best character. I love how tsundere she is and how she never gives up. "Like hell I'll lose." I love when she says that.
-
Tatsumi
Just flat-out funny. His one-liners made the anime light-hearted. I like his transition to being a more adept fighter.
He didn't have to die. He just sacrificed himself to save the people standing around.
I don't care! I am GLAD that Tatsumi is the protagonist and not Akame!
-
Leone
Great upbeat character with the most tragic death. During a celebration of lights and a bright future, she died knowing she'd never see it, bleeding out in a dark alleyway.
Leone is the most beautiful anime woman ever, hands down!
I'm obsessed with her. She's cute, hot, sexy, and sweet.
-
Kurome
Cute, had badass moments, her relationship with Wave is interesting, and her manga counterpart has been developed pretty well.
-
Bulat
At first, he was attracted to Tatsumi, as was everyone else. I think this was because the kingdom didn't ruin his optimism. He transitions to being his older brother and teaches him tough love when he needs it.
-
Najenda
How could you forget about the leader of Night Raid?

?
Najasho

Hekatonkheires
Ridiculously OP and can regenerate.
-
Sheele
She shouldn't have died. No, I mean it. When she fought with Seryu Ubiquitous, she should've cut through her because her scissors can cut through anything, but somehow Seryu managed to block her attacks. She should've won.
Sheele may have been an airhead, but she was super nice and really strong. She was willing to sacrifice herself for her friends, and in my mind, that's what true bravery is.
My heart is still broken. She was so strong, and she died because Mine could not do a thing. She sacrificed herself to save Mine, and she was so kind to Tatsumi. She is wonderful, really.
-
Honest
A good anime normally has a good, utterly evil villain, and Prime Minister Honest definitely fills that role precisely.
A corrupt, entirely selfish political leader who certainly does not live up to his name, he manipulates the politics of the kingdom in a way that makes the system serve the high ruling class by leaving everyone else impoverished, causing a majority of all the problems the show faces.
If the goal was to make an irredeemably corrupt villain, then Honest takes the cake on that.
-
Wave
He really is like Tatsumi, the only major difference being that he fought on the other side and that he managed to survive until the end of the anime series.
One of the best characters. Sure, he was an idiot, but pretty strong. His personality and how he stood for normal people as a soldier was so amazing. Glad he didn't die.
He is a great character, and he deeply cares about his comrades.
-
Bols
I love this guy so much. He understands all the wrongs he did and is so humbled by his past mistakes that he wants to help everyone. Heck, he even wants the enemy to join them. That's how much he wishes he didn't have to fight them. Such a tragic end just makes me hate Chelsea more.
Just not the strong silent type, hence my high ranking. You can't always judge a book by its cover.
Good character, good dad, and great personality.
-
Run
He has an imperial arm that is basically angel wings. He's cute, and he was against the corrupt capital and tried to change it without resorting to violence. He's a sweet guy.
-
Susanoo
The coolest. This guy made me love Akame Ga Kill more than before.
-
Seryu Ubiquitous
I love her character. Sure, she was a bit crazy, but she had a reason for it.
Had a reason for being crazy, still a sweetie to her comrades, and at least checked for civilians before essentially nuking Mine.
My absolute favorite character. She was an amazing grey character.
-
Air
Her emotional strength at such a young age, and after enduring such traumatic events, earns her a high rank in my book.
