First of all, let me address something. Makarov said during the GMG, that Jura is around the same strength as Gildarts. Yet in the MPF, he got around 8000 while Cana got 9999, using Fairy Glitter. Cana used the exact same move against Bluenote, yet had no effect. Gildarts beat Bluenote so he surpasses Cana, surpassing Jura. And since Jura was supposedly the strongest human wizard in magnolia (stronger than Makarov) he is considerably the strongest in the continent. (Gildarts>Bluenote>Cana>Jura>Makarov).

He can obliterate a black hole (Blue Note's black hole), beat Natsu on any day, and can destroy mountains in a single punch. It's safe to say he's stronger than most Fairy Tail members considering how many there are and how many of them are weak like Nab.

Gildarts is under Natsu?! Gildarts took out Natsu in one punch and after Natsu went all out on him, he didn't have a single scratch! Natsu will probably surpass Gildarts one day, but he can't right now because of his recklessness and experience.

He's stronger than Natsu, considering how badly he beat him so many times. However, I do believe Natsu will one day surpass him. Not yet, though, since Gildarts is still much more experienced than Natsu

Natsu has the power to destroy Zeref, he is (END) after all. (spoiler) He melts literally anything in his vicinity especially after that year he went off to train. He can take down armies on his own and also most of the Spriggan 12 on his own. Natsu may appear that he can't beat some people from the guild, but he dares not to because they are his friends and family. He can go ballistic on anyone with the powers of emotions to boost his power. Of course the twin dragons were nothing to Natsu, their powers were half baked compared to Natsu alone. Gajeel can also take down the twin dragons by himself. Gildarts sure is strong, but it's difficult to determine who is stronger when he's a nomadic mage who is never there to help Fairy Tail during their many many encounters with Dark Guilds. Man, I really wasn't sure who to give my vote to. Gildarts is really strong, always beats Natsu whenever challenged, but Natsu can do some intense stuff. He's never challenged Hillary's before in his Dragon Force mode, which continues to grow stronger as Natsu himself gets stronger. Natsu has absorbed many different kinds of powers by eating them, like lighting. All the things that he absorbs gives him that power, which he has forever, like his lighting flame roar, whatever it's called.

He smashed into sabertooth like it was nothing, then defeated the twin dragon slayers like it was his job. Even the other members of sabertooth feared him and wondered at what would of happened if they let him fight their master. Not to mention that he only gets stronger when he fights for those he loves, I mean Christ this guy can't quit! He only looses to his guild mates and that's because he simply loves them to much to fight them. Anyone else, dead..

(spoilers) He beat up Jellal. Natsu defeated Gajeel. He crushed Cobra. He destroyed Zero. He beat up Hughes. He made monsters cower in fear and run away. He got rid of Zancrow. He stormed into Sabertooth and could have literally got rid of the master with one or two punches. He defeated Sting and Rogue. He crushed Future Rogue; someone who had seven years more experience than him and two different types of dragon slaying magic. He made a demon fear him and question his humanity. He took out an entire army with a few of his friends. He beat up Bluenote Stinger with a blow. He made an entire army of over seven thousand soldiers run away in fear.

She is the strongest female in fairy tail I don't know why natsu is ahead of her I mean she scare natsu and gray without even doing anything. plus when she defeated 100 monsters, it is said that the s class monster is so powerful that even a 10 wizard saint can't defeat yet she defeated all 100 even with those injuries. also when mira said that they should defeat aria (in phantom lord) before he even opens his eyes, but when aria faced off erza he opened his eyes because he knew how powerful she is, but due to the fact that erza is angry at that time he defeated him in just like 20 seconds maybe?

Well, her Nakagami armour makes her capable of bending the very laws of magic, cut through everything (even space itself) and wield a peerless sword.

I think she should be first because no only did she beat the strongest tartaros member but she beat her without her five senses. Also she fought 100 monsters and in the end succeeded. Also she beat Kagura and beat Minerva with an extreme wound in her leg. Then during the S-Class Promotion it was interrupted by the 7 Kin of Purgatory, then she fought Azuma alone who Mirajane and Lisanna couldn't even beat together. ALso she beat on of the members or Trinity Raven, Ikaruga who is a master swordsman and broke all of her swords and armors. Last she fought one of the 12th Spriggan, Neinhart, and faced her history Kyoka, Azuma, and Ikaruga and beat all of them again. She never gives up! Especially when she's fighting for the ones she loves. She may not be as powerful as the saints but she never loses a fight. That's because she's very powerful in will and faith. That is what makes her stand out.

Laxus should be third on the list however the thought that he is stronger than natsu can be doubted due to natsu's ability to become stronger during a fight. Natsu may have drew with him during the first fight but even macarov stated if natsu was to fight seriously even Lexus wouldn't stand a chance. This also applies to the fact natsu has become almighty after the second time skip. Lax us however is easily stronger than Ezra due to the fact she wasn't able to land a blow on him during their fight. Also Ezra admits Laxus's strength is beyond her and his feats are easily on par with the wizard Saints if not beyond.

I'm not going to lie, I think he deserves the #2 spot. He definitely seems stronger than Erza, and to be perfectly honest, no matter how strong Natsu gets, I think that there will always be something about Laxus that will put him ahead of Natsu. Obviously Mashima is going to show Natsu as the strongest mage at the end of Fairy Tail, but whether it be out of age or experience, I certainly think Laxus is at least a little stronger than Natsu. I mean, lets not forget this is the guy who completely wiped the floor with Jura- one of the 10 wizard saints.

He is super strong And he defeated JURA! ONE OF THE TEN WIZARD SAINTS! Jura is ranked 5th strongest of the Wizard Saints and Laxus defeated him! Laxus rarely uses his full strength and I don't think he actually has. He has two strong powers! Lighting Magic and Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic. He should be higher than Mirajane. Don't get me wrong, I love Mirajane, she is super strong, a lot of people say that she is as strong as Era which I think she is but still I believe that Laxus I stronger! Mirajane usually only loses due to plot requirements or is relegated to let the main characters shine. While it might only be a fleeting line but even Gray (after he acquired Ice Devil-Slaying magic) admitted during their confrontation with Wahl's Machine clones that Mirajane has no weaknesses (Chapter 459, Pg 14). Besides, Mirajane is a very versatile combatant, possessing both close and long-range battle abilities.

Mirajane can beat Natsu, Laxus, Erza or even Gildarts. If she uses her Macro she can control everyone if she wants to and make them do whatever she wants so she belongs to the second place next to mavis although she can control mavis she wouldn't able to defeat mavis.

Trust me if Mirajane diplays her true powers no one will be able to defeat her...I mean she was restricted to even use Satan Soul:Halphas because of its overly destructive power...so I guess if Hiro pays a little attention to Mira's character I'm sure she's going to bring DEATH...She hasn't even shown her other Satan Soul forms...She can easily surpass God Serena in my opinion.

Here's the problem with Mirajane. She probably outstrips everyone else in terms of raw power, but she's too sweet so people don't take her seriously. Big mistake. When this chick goes all out run the other direction.

The fact of the matter is, Gray has always been slightly better than Natsu in almost every way. Excluding Natsu's practically infinite magical reserves and close-quarters-combat skills.

He has always been smarter, quicker and more durable by a slight margin and Natsu even has trouble melting through Gray's ice. Gray thinks about what he needs to do in order to beat his opponent and since he knows more than enough about Natsu he could skip that fairly lengthy process immediately.

Then Gray got Devil Slaying magic...

There is no way that Devil Slaying magic is weaker than dragon slaying magic. For example, Zancrow had god slaying magic. Natsu couldn't even hurt him until Mashima used the plot armour card.

If he couldn't hurt a god slayer, then he would never even land a scratch on a devil slayer. Gray is now even more stronger, faster and durable. He now has a significant boost to his magic and his ice is now so cold that Natsu will never be able to melt ...more

He was equal to Natsu, But Devil Slaying magic easily destroys Natsu's dragon slaying magic. Zancrow may have been psychopathic, but he is right when he compares God slaying magic to Dragon slaying magic. It cannot compete. Devils and Gods are clearly equal (devils maybe slightly more powerful) so dragon slaying magic is pathetic in comparison.

In short, he is stronger than Natsu, no plot armour can prove otherwise.

I think that Gray has shown his potential In the manga, he kicked Invel's ass, he stood up against END, he had the guts to go to Zeref and cast Lost Iced Shell.I am sorry for the spoilers but with this said I think that he Is stronger than Mirajane, because she Is a demon, and what Gray has? Ice Devil Slayer Magic, he has a chance against Mira, and If he goes all out, he will win.Not to mention that he one shoted Tempester In the manga.I think that he needs to be above Mirajane. There's a difference between being someone's rival and being someone's equal. Gray's one of my favorite mages and he's definitely really powerful, definitely! But to the people who think he should be just under Natsu or the same rank need to remember. Natsu started off over-powered and he'll always be over powered. he's the lead after all.

Mavis should be higher. Founder and master of the famous Fairy Tail out of the top 10?! Even if holding the title of first master and founder isn't enough, this still doesn't sound right at all. She created the four secret and powerful spells of Fairy Tail. She used a powerful spell and pretty much created Fairy Law, right after she learned how to use powerful offensive magic from Zeref (though sadly it was Black Magic) in order to save her dear friend Yuri even after he backstabbed her and chose treasure. She survived on Tenroujima alone for 7 years after the Guild attack, and because of that she has become the most well-known and successful military war tactician to ever exist giving her the nickname, "Fairy Tactician." Guys, let's face the facts. Mavis started Fairy Tail. She is immortal, and thus, on par with Zeref. She can make a sphere that envelops an entire island that even Acnologia (who makes even Zeref run for the hills) can't break. Not to mention, she was in suspended animation when she did that. She created the Three Great Fairy Magics AND was the holder of Fairy Heart, an unlimited source of magic power. What? How in the world did Mavis Vermillion, the master of Fairy Tail, creater of Fairy Law, Fairy Sphere, and so much more powerful spells end up in 12th place? She should be number one with Zeref! This is actually a bit strange that no one would notice her incredible power! Even Zeref, the strongest wizard in Fairy Tail, was very, very impressed with her SELF-TAUGHT magic skills! She has got to be number one with Zeref!

Mavis is the founder of Fairy Tail and the creator of the spells Fairy Law, Fairy Glitter and Fairy Sphere. Fairy Law can take out a Wizard Saint, Fairy Glitter can get 9999 on the MPF, and Fairy Sphere can withstand Acnologia's Dragon Roar. She is said to be on par with Zeref when she gets serious. 9th Place is appalling for someone as powerful as her.

First of all, this kid is Jellal's counterpart and Jellal was a wizard saint, and on the council and everything. He was also considered to be the top three of the fairytail guild, against laxus. He wiped out all of those phantom lord guild himself. In the fight with laxus, he only left because his face had been revealed, and laxus himself said that only mystogan could compare to him as the strongest wizard in fairytail, not even Erza. He's also the king of Edolas, and even though he lost his powers because of the way edolas is,he could kick butt if he had his magic. They never really showed Mystogans true potential in the show though, and they could have because he had a lot of things to him that could of made him much stronger.

I think mystogan is the strongest because unlike the other members of fairy tail we don't know that much about him except that he uses staff magic and is a prince of edolas and a s-class wizard of fairy tail. The only time we got to see him fight was during the grand magic game and the thunder palace arc. and in both battles he was interrupted and didn't go all out thus not showing us how strong he really is. FYI he also knows anima a spell that can and will take all the magic away from anything within the magic circle area or radius. So that tis why I think he is the strongest not only in the guild but the strongest fairy tail character. Also a piece of reminder he could draw magic circles while flying in the air.

Mystogan deflected the power of the artificial dragon in the Edolas arc and he wasn't even using his full power. Meanwhile, Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy had to team up to do much damage and whenever they were hit they took substantial damage. I think Mystogan is as strong as Laxus or Gildarts.

Mystogan could enihilate Cana, Lucy, and Juvia. He could certainly put up a superb fight against Gajee, and Mirajane, and he would put up a good fight against Erza and Gray. Even though he isn't a member of Fairy Tail anymore, Mystogan needs more credit.

I don't get why some people are keep saying " Juvia is most powerful even erza is scared of her" God damn! First of all erza has not scared, she is just surprised to see juvia like that and second thing, erza 1000 times more powerful than juvia. Erza can easily stomp juvia with a tremendous ease so? It's clear that juvia is more powerful but lucy is both strong and kind but juvia is always mean to them. She cares only about gray not her friends, okay? Her pointless crush on Gray is practically an illness to the series by now. Gray obviously doesn't like her (he isn't a tsun) and she goes to such lows as to bully the women he talks with, even some guys. She never leaves him alone and makes him uncomfortable and she STALKS HIM!

I would honestly need to point out that Juvia Lockser is not only pretty, smart, funny, a former S-class wizard of the Elemant Four, but she's also way powerful all she needs is a little "push" from her lover(Gray) and she's good, although this is a upside and downside. Regardless of the matter Juvia could really kick behind if she was focused and determined she might even be the same skill level as Erza and Mira and might I add Gajeel...all I gotta say is that Juvia Lockser is no weakling and to all those that think she's just some useless Fangirl, stop hating and go back and watch her awesome battles that she's won!

Wow, you think that the ONLY water mage in Fairy Tail deserves to be 10th?!? She was a former S-Class mage in Phantom Lord and was also chosen for the S-Class Trials! After defeating Meredy, a foe that even Erza herself couldn't beat? What went wrong here? Juvia is clearly a very strong water mage, enough to be stronger than Lucy and even maybe Gray! Unfortunately, she just doesn't have many one-to-one battles that showcase her incredible magic power. She also defeated Keyes who was an Etherious of the Dark Guild Tartaros and a member of the Nine Demon Gates! In the Eclipse episodes, she also defeated Eclilpse Aries, when she was at a disadvantage from her setting. Juvia's amazing water ability allows her to produce, control, and manipulate water.

Gajeel is very strong. He has unlocked Dragon Force and has his Steel and Iron Shadow Dragon mode. He should be higher than Gray. He is around Erza's strength, but less than Natsu, Laxus and Gildarts. Gray got Ice Devil Slayer Magic because his father happened to be kind enough to pass it on to him. However, Gajeel earned all of the modes he obtains to this day by sheer will and true power aided by his newfound comradely spirit with the guild. I am not saying Gray is not strong, he is incredibly strong, but he has not earned what he has gotten whereas Gajeel has. Passing power onto someone is not as powerful as someone earning it through blood, sweat and tears.

Gajeel is the strongest Fairy Tail Wizard! Not only for strength but for his feelings! And he sure isn't scared of crying over a flying cat!

When he eats metal his power boosts tremendously and should be somewhere around gray.

Gajeel is stronger then Gray as iron can smash through ice easily but ice can't.

If we look at RAW MAGIC, there is no doubt that Freed is the strongest in Fairy Tail (literally, without bias, one of the strongest in the entire anime). His rune power and dark ecriture powers are beyond imagination. He can create runes not even wizard saints can pass, he can teleport instantly, and create spells just by saying them (wings, torture, pain, and even DEATH) on top of his S-class level power itself. It's a shame he isn't given the recognition he should, mainly because his role and position in Fairy Tail isn't central to the plot, so they "artificially" weaken him. Therefore, I would say he is one of the strongest, yet broken characters in Fairy Tail.

I think Freed deserves a bit more recognition. At first he seems to be very powerful, his runes were a force to be reckoned with and it was mostly clear he was one of the stronger member of the thunder legion. As well as this he was nominated to become an S-class wizard and would've probably gotten far in the S-Class trials if he hadn't gone against Cana and Lucy in that situation. But after that he seems to be cast aside and lots of power is taken from him. I think he deserves better screen time in future arcs.

Finally, a gay character in an anime who isn't solely played for comedy or introduced as comedy. Black Butler was the only other anime I saw with a gay character, and Grell was only played for laughs and the occasional plot usage. Freed wasn't created for being a gay character, he was created as part of the Thunder Legion, and he's awfully badass at it, too.

This guy can literally do anything! Anything at all, he could make it so anyone named Freed in a certain area can fly, he could kill everyone in an area! He is so OP it is scary. Imagine if he turned super evil... that would be utterly terrifying!

Are we forgetting about people like Bickslow? People like Evergreen? People like Freed? People Like Elfman? People like (I daresay) Wendy? Don't get me wrong, Cana definitely is strong, but it seems like some of the other members of Fairy Tail deserve this spot much more than she does.

Cana is obviously stronger than some of these guys. I believe she's stronger than the Laxus' bodyguards (Raijinshu) and other guild members. She pulled off Fairy Glitter on more than one occasion (spoiler), and she is also the daughter of Gildarts! (spoiler) Cana definitely has latent abilities.

Everyone in the guild is strong, but Mavis wants to give Cana her power more than once. Cana is amazingly strong and even if she isn't the very top she is very close to it.

How on earth did Cana get #10? I would say Bickslow is definitely stronger than her, and yet, he's at #24...

I can't believe you missed her out! Wendy is a Sky Dragon Slayer, an extremely rare magic. She could go against the power Sky God Slayer Chelia and tie it with relative ease. Besides, I believe Wendy can win Chelia if there wasn't a time limit. Heck, Wendy can beat anybody if there wasn't a time limit, because she can keep on refilling her energy so even if her opponent's magic zeroes, Wendy is fine and she can finish it.
Besides, her offensive skills such as Sky Dragon's Breath, they aren't bad either.
Wendy also has a good cat named Carla.

Actually Wendy and Natsu are 400+ years old. I don't know why Wendy looks so young. But at the manga it was stated that Wendy, Natsu, Gajeel, Sting, & Rogue, was from 400 years ago who traveled in the present. So basically wendy and natsu are at the same age. It's not that impressing that Wendy learned dragon force. She's 400 years old already who looks like a 12 year old girl ok bye. I love wendy too but that's the truth

She is absolutely more powerful than Lucy and on par if not better than Juvia. Her strength is probably almost the same as Natsu's. So why is she so low compared to them? She deserves to be about nine or ten, not 17!

Aah. We have the classic case of "aquarius is stronger than loke" disease. Well, I'll fix that (but just annoy those who disagree) ok, this what would happen in a fight: so basically aquarius is winning BUT they are very even. Then loke says something like "I will defeat you, and prove my undying love for lucy! Love will prevail! " (or something cheesy like that that gets us all facepalming) and loke will basically unleash some amazing new magic (they always do that in fairy tail) and win, then use some other weird pickup line (such as) hey lucy! Are you sure you're name isn't wifi, because I'm picking up a connection! " … I dunno. I'm gonna end this here, before it gets any weirder...

Aquarius is stronger than Loke and the strongest celestial spirit. It's just that Loke was more popular.

Lisanna is actually strong, like seriously. She might not be as strong as Elfman or Mira, but that doesn't mean she's weak. When she fought Lucy in the one hundred year quest, Lucy's strongest attack wasn't even enough to bring her down properly. And so what if Natsu and Lisanna liked each other when they were kids? That shouldn't affect Lisanna's character! Lisanna's an underrated and awesome character, so there!

Her magic is pathetic... She is not that strong and acts like "I'm Natsu's wife today, tomorrow, and for-ever! ". She is weak and I trust Elfman is stronger than her, but why is her rank even higher!?

Her magic is a joke and not even Natsu takes her seriously but she is very kind and we know the power of the friendship is the strongest of all, right erza?

Lisanna is actually very strong, but she gets so much hate. Please stop saying mean things about her just because you don't ship Nali. Enough hate on this sweet mage!
