Top Ten Classic Rock Albums of All Time

The Contenders: Page 7

121 Signals - Rush
122 Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles

A few songs on this album are the Beatles at their most interesting: Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, Blue Jay Way, I am a Walrus, Fool on the Hill, All You Need is Love and the rejoicing Hello Goodbye. If you're too young to appreciate this then ask your Mother; after all she should know...

123 Nightingales and Bombers - Manfred Mann's Earth Band
124 At the Sound of the Bell - Pavlov's Dog

If you never heard of Pavlov's Dog it is time and worth it to listen to one of the best progressive 70's rock music. Both "Pampered Menial" and "At The Sound Of The Bell" albums are in my favorite collection.

125 Tales of Mystery and Imagination - Alan Parsons Project
126 Learning to Crawl - Pretenders

Great guitar work, great writing - Monster.

127 Fair Warning - Van Halen
128 5150 - Van Halen
129 The River - Bruce Springsteen
130 Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton - John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers

Simply put, the best pure blues-rock album ever created. This album features perhaps the best guitar work Clapton ever did. THAT is saying something.

131 Disraeli Gears - Cream

The first notable power trio and likely the best one as well, Cream was never better than they were when they produced Disraeli Gears, an amazing acid rock album featuring one of the greatest rock songs of all time, Sunshine of Your Love. Then again, its hard to expect less from from a trio like Jack Bruce on bass, Ginger Baker on drums, and the might Eric "Slowhand" Clapton on guitar.

Easily the best and also the first big power trio, Cream was never better than when they produced Disraeli Gears, the perfect acid rock album, and also an album worthy distinction for featuring one of the best rock songs of all time, Sunshine of Your Love.

132 Strange Days - The Doors

When the Music is Over is amazing. Great album.

133 Clockwork Angels - Rush

This album was made when rock was no longer the mainstream, therefore it will never be appreciated as it should be. This is Rush at their best! To produce some of your best work in your 38th year together is unheard of. If you have never listened to this masterpiece you are missing out! I honestly think this album should be much higher on this or any list. But the fact that a concept album released in 2012 is even on this list speaks volumes!

134 Bridge of Sighs - Robin Trower

Often forgotten or simply seen as a Hendrix clone Robin Trower is oh so much more than that.
Bridge of Sighs is one of my favourite rock albums and the synergy between the guitar, bass and drums are perfectly complimented by the husky yet powerful voice of the late James Dewar.
If played on vinyl this recording by one of the Great Power Trios works almost perfectly; grab a copy, give it a listen and enjoy this underrated album.

135 Bad Company - Bad Company
136 Let It Be - The Beatles

Had a few hits and a few misses. Easily worse than its predecessor, Abbey Road. Despite these facts, it should be higher.

Love this album. Great songs

137 High Voltage - AC/DC
138 Permanent Waves - Rush

Great album! My personal favorite of Rush.

This cite just hit a new low. I get how this is a people's voted cite but there are umteen million deep purple albums in the top twenty and all the rush and Van Halen sits at rock bottom. Not cool

139 Straight Shooter - Bad Company
140 Live at Leeds - The Who

Although the song "magic bus" seams to go on for 20 minutes, this is one of the best live albums of all time in my taste.

Best live album ever. The Who at the top of their game
