Top 10 Best Disney Channel Original Movies

Disney Channel Original Movies, or DCOMs as fans often call them, have been a huge part of many childhoods. Maybe you remember watching them on premiere nights or later on streaming services. These movies are packed with fun stories, unforgettable characters, and catchy songs. They bring together heart, humor, and often a little bit of magic, both literally and figuratively. From musicals that had everyone singing along to dramas that made you grab a tissue or two, these movies know how to keep you hooked.

But which ones really stand out? Do you love high school musicals and summer camp adventures? Or are you more into stories about kids saving the day, juggling school and superhero responsibilities, or uncovering hidden family secrets? Whatever your favorite kind of DCOM is, this list celebrates the very best of them all.
The Top Ten
High School Musical

I live and breathe this movie. I know every word to every song. I wish I had the friendship and relationship that Gabby and Troy had. It's really perfect. This movie is the BEST ONE EVER in my book.

I cry my eyes out every time I watch the first one in the first song because it's like they have no idea how amazing this really turns out to be. It's tears of happiness and how proud I am. I cry when they graduate, and words cannot express how at home I feel when I watch it. My final words of my high school graduation speech were, "I want the rest of my life to feel just like my High School Musical!"

Lemonade Mouth

Right. I will admit, High School Musical is an iconic movie and was one of the first, or maybe the first, Disney Channel Movie to become super popular. They still play it on the channel nowadays, and even small kids know about it. But most iconic and most popular doesn't mean best. This list is about the BEST Disney Channel movies, and that is what Lemonade Mouth is.

The acting is superb, much better than most acting in HSM. I can tell the actors really got into their characters, and they made me really like them. That was quite hard to do with High School Musical, as most of it was badly acted. I wasn't a big fan of any characters except Ryan and Kelsi.

High School Musical had more songs. However, I think the Lemonade Mouth songs were better and had more meaning. With the exception of Breaking Free, the HSM soundtrack isn't all that great, especially compared to the songs in Lemonade Mouth. This movie is probably one of the last good things to come out of Disney Channel. It is definitely worth the watch.

Camp Rock

Camp Rock rocks, especially the sequel. The first one had too obvious of a plot, but the second movie was incredible with a great storyline of the two camps competing against each other.

The music was fantastic in both films, and Demi Lovato did an incredible job with her singing and dancing, especially considering how young she was at the time.

Brand New Day is a song that makes you just want to join along, along with many other great hits that are upbeat and catchy.

Having future stars like Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers truly made Camp Rock phenomenal, a movie you want to see again and again.

I find the music in Camp Rock much better than High School Musical, and Camp Rock should be rated way ahead of High School Musical.

Halloweentown

They are great. It's one of those Halloween movies you'll finish watching without having nightmares or thinking it was stupid. Good movie!

I'm voting for the first one since all the sequels were nothing like the original in quality, tone, and appearance.

I love this movie a lot since I was a child. It is a little bit scary but at the same time so adventurous. I love all its characters.

Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension

I love this movie. It might be the best movie of all time. Here's why you'll like this movie: The characters are great, the animation is great, the adventure is great, the songs are great.

I watch this movie all the time. This might be the best Disney Channel movie of all time.

"Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I'd have two nickels." - Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz

So good! Phineas and Ferb is a good show, and the movie was also really good.

Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior

Wendy Wu is really entertaining. It gives you a message that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Most of the characters speak in a Chinese accent, so you might not understand everything, but it is in English, so you should be able to. I recommend this movie to anyone, even older people.

Such a good movie, but I just wish I could find it somewhere. It is a really great movie, and I suggest watching it for anyone who hasn't. I grew up on this movie as a kid, and I just know you will all love it.

This movie is great, as I remember from my childhood. However, the scene where that stone statue is a bit creepy. Why do souls possess different people? But Food Boy is great, in my opinion.

Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie

Let's be serious. This is the first ever Disney series where the entire cast can act. Putting them in a movie? I cry every time at the end. Best DCOM ever!

This is the best TV series to movie adaptation Disney has ever made.

This movie is the second most watched after High School Musical 2! It deserves to be higher.

16 Wishes

16 Wishes should be first. It really shows an amazing lesson, which I will let you find out on your own. Watch this show. It is the best movie ever.

One of the many lessons is that you want to live in the moment and be thankful that you have people with you now because sometimes they might not be there. So, I highly suggest watching this. It is great for any age!

It is the most awesome movie I have ever seen. The moral of this story is presented in such a way that if a normal person says it, we will think he's crazy. But if we look at this movie, we will be amazed: I should be happy with what I have.

If this is the way to teach kids their lessons, then it's the best way.

Princess Protection Program

I watched this movie just now, expecting it to be good but nothing more. I absolutely loved it. It teaches the importance of friendship and not to judge people when you know nothing about them. I wouldn't say it's the greatest Disney Channel movie, but if High School Musical (one of the cringiest and definitely not the best DCOM) is in the top spot, then Princess Protection Program deserves to be way higher than 10. I'm not saying that I hate HSM. It just isn't really the "best," as everyone calls it.

High School Musical 2

This movie should be way higher on this list. It really teaches you some lessons and also has amazing choreography, singing, and dancing. And also featuring the amazing Zac Efron.

I love it. It is sad when Gabriella sings that song to Troy and then leaves because of how the country club had changed him.

I like this movie because it changed my future, and I want you to play this movie on live TV.

The Newcomers

? Descendants 3

This movie is nothing amazing, but it's modern Disney Channel. Compared to High School Musical, this is gold.

Amazing ending to a wonderful trilogy. I hope Zombies gets a three-movie trilogy as well.

Better than the first and second by far! RIP Cameron.

? Descendants 2

The closest Descendants has ever gotten to being a classic. This movie is nowhere close to Ariel, but it really is good!

I thought it was like every other modern Disney movie, but I was wrong, and I'm glad I am!

This one isn't as good as the other ones, but it definitely deserves to be higher than it is.

It's part of a trademark franchise and has become many people's favorite over the years.

I love this movie. I have honestly watched it 15 times, and I'm never bored.

All the actors do an amazing job, and I hope there is a Descendants 3 in the future.

The Contenders
Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas

When I first saw it, I was wondering how it would be. The show was good, but movies based on shows usually aren't. However, it was surprisingly good. I watch it at Christmas, and even when it's not Christmas.

Sure, Amy was kind of weird, but still. I just don't like how in the movie she was "pregnant" but there was nothing about that in the show. I'd give it 8/10.

The first time I watched this, I cried. It's so sad but really tells the true meaning of Christmas: being with family. The ending was amazing.

You're in a simple, cute little restaurant with Christmas tree pancakes and an announcement of a new baby. It doesn't get better than this.

Geek Charming

Geek Charming is kind of a similar storyline to Cinderella, but it's backwards. You have this rich, popular girl and this geeky, nerdy boy. They meet up at school when this nerdy boy has to do a project for class. They bond over time while doing the project and come to realize they like each other. It ends perfectly, just as it should, with them now together and a happy ending.

I'm not saying it was the greatest movie, but it should definitely be in the top 5. If not the top 5, for sure top 10. This was a great movie.

Amazing, and I loved the ending! Sarah Hyland was amazing, and it just shows that no matter how different you are, you can still be friends and have social interactions with them!

The Suite Life Movie

There's Cole and Dylan Sprouse in here!

I think this movie is great. In my opinion, the Suite Life series deserves 100 of your votes.

Let It Shine

This movie is the best Disney Channel movie that has ever come out. It teaches good lessons and is very inspirational. The songs are uplifting, and the cast is perfect. They all brought a different part to the movie that made it great. The only thing I don't like is the fact they never gave this movie a sequel, yet High School Musical gets two sequels and a spin-off.

This movie, by far, is the best Disney movie of all time. Finally, there is a movie that reaches out to both boys and girls. The music is amazing, and most movies that I've seen on Disney are kind of, "eh, saw that happening." But this movie keeps you watching it till the very last part.

Great job, Disney, with this 2012 movie. Best Disney movie of all time!

Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam

This is one of those movies that deserves a sequel, and sadly they haven't made one yet. I would like to see Demi and Joe's relationship develop more, as well as Nick and Dana, and Tess and that guy she always argues with. Also, Kevin's character still needs a girlfriend, as well as some of the other characters who still need true love. I wish the cast would all get together and make another movie.

The music was amazing, and I wished there was a Camp Rock 3 because Demi and the guys are just amazing together. However, the first one was better than the second. But it was still VERY good.

Tru Confessions

I just watched a little bit of it on YouTube, and it almost brought me to tears. It's so sad, and yet so deep in a non-Disney way. This movie and The Color of Friendship are honestly the best Disney has ever made! Shia does such a good job with the role of Eddie. He makes it seem like he's just like that character. The watermelon scene and when Eddie is on the floor crying just broke me down. And I think that the baseball scene was really cute.

You can't explain how great it is. All you can do is say it.

It sometimes comes on at like 2 or 2:30 AM, but I doubt I would ever be allowed to stay up that late. Ever.

Kim Possible: So the Drama

This is way better than High School Musical and Camp Rock. This movie is amazing. It's one of those movies that will never get old.

The movie is a classic and awesome, especially the ending with Kim and Ron.

I simply do not know why it's ranked that low. It should be much higher.

Radio Rebel

I like the main character. Although she spews that "be yourself" nonsense I despise, she's still quirky, strong-willed, good-natured, and actually a pretty relatable character. Even the principal's motives are quite solid. If a radio program was encouraging everyone to turn lunch into a dance party, I'd be pretty ticked off as well. There are still things I dislike, such as everyone blindly following Rebel's advice. That popular girl was the only one in the whole school who disliked her? There are also those "ha ha, boys are quirky! Laugh at them!" moments, and the best friend's a bit annoying.

But this is definitely a film I can watch again. Several times.

Twitches

Best Disney movie ever! Can't believe it's number 44! It's full of surprises you wouldn't believe your eyes! Come on, people, vote for it! Show your taste!

I love magic and witches and stuff, so this movie would be my favorite.

Excellent movie with lots of surprises!

Minutemen

I was so torn because there are so many good movies on this list. Halloweentown, Twitches, Camp Rock, 16 Wishes - I could go on. But I am shocked that this movie is in 71st place. I've seen many Disney Channel movies, but this is truly the only one I can watch 50 times without getting bored. The plot is great, the main characters are cute and quirky, and it sends a good message about friendship. Plus, it is so entertaining. For once, they didn't ask Jason Dolley to play the dumb guy, and he did a great job as Virgil. Charlie and Zeke are also amazing. Ugh, wonderful movie. I never get bored with it.

Cadet Kelly

No idea how High School Musical got ranked higher than this masterpiece.

This was my favorite movie for the longest time!

Descendants

What?! Why is this 69 on the list? It has several really good meanings.

1. Anyone can change.
2. True beauty comes from within.
3. Love is stronger than evil.
4. Working as a team is better than going solo.
5. Face your fears.

I could go on and on. Not to mention the acting! Each actor played their role perfectly. Come on, people, get this movie to #1.

This is the best Disney Channel movie ever. It deserves to be number one because it is the only thing Disney Channel has produced in the last decade that has a single original idea to it.

StarStruck

StarStruck is my favorite movie because it has it all!

Great, beautiful, and talented young actors (with great chemistry), a nice romantic (but not too cheesy) teen love story, great songs (one of the best Disney Channel soundtracks), and the sets... L.A.! The most beautiful modern city in the world! What more do you need?

It's just great, and every Disney fan (the old ones at least) must agree with me on the fact that the soundtrack is life.

It brings back so many memories. Knowing that I was one of the people who saw it when it premiered makes me very proud of myself.

Motocrossed

Loved this movie - best movie ever! I seriously think they did an amazing job with it.

I fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it. The fact that Andrea actually looked like a guy, pulled off playing Andy, and could race against all those guys and win was amazing! It really sets high standards for girls. Two thumbs up!

I love this movie so much. I love seeing a girl standing up to the odds that say she can't be in motocross because of her gender. Andrea was awesome!

The father made me mad for most of the film, though. This is my favorite DCOM movie, and I've seen almost all of them.

Jump In

The movie was fantastic! I wonder how much time it took them to practice.

I love the movie so much that I wish I could do what they did. I need to practice double dutch to see whether I can do it or not. I'll start by buying two skipping ropes.

The actors in this movie are really clever. It must have been really hard to learn some of the jump rope moves that were shown!

This movie is seriously underrated. It's better than Teen Beach Movie, in my opinion.
