Most Surprising NFL Teams Week 7 (2019)
Not gonna lie there wasn’t too many shocking results this week. Still some pretty good games some of which could have massive implications. There were quite a few blowouts and not very many close calls. To me, the Saints get #1 because of how dominant they were. Teddy Bridgewater went off on the Bears, and New Orleans is now 5-0 without Brees at the helm. Honestly, this game was all Saints. They led 36-10 at one point, but Chicago did close the margin slightly. However, it wasn't enough. Mitchell Trubisky is looking worse each passing week, but even then, I'm surprised they torched the Bears' defense.
A solid game from Lamar Jackson, as he ran all over Seattle and outshined Russell Wilson. The Ravens' defense also had a game, as Earl Thomas got his revenge on Seattle.
One week after losing to the Jets, Dallas dominated Philly. Dak Prescott and Zeke both went off on the Eagles' poor secondary. Wentz was also not great, as Dallas got to him multiple times. Perhaps the Cowboys have potential after all.
The Niners won, but what was that? I can't tell if it was the rainy conditions or if the Niners just put up an absolute dud, but how was this game only 9-0? You'd think San Fran would beat up on a one-win team, but that wasn't the case. There wasn't a touchdown scored in this game. The football was ugly, but at least the players had fun slipping and sliding around out there.
The Titans came away with a good win at home over the struggling Chargers. The offense wasn't great, but they did just enough to hold off L.A. and stay alive in the playoff picture. Tannehill looked decent, and Corey Davis and Derrick Henry carried the team to a win, ending a two-game skid after losing three of their last four.
A key division matchup between teams that both beat KC on the road. Indy continues to control its destiny with one man: Jacoby Brissett. He led the charge as Indy overpowered Houston, taking first place in the division. But without Andrew Luck? That's surprising.
Philly, Philly, we need to talk. You cannot "guarantee a win in Dallas" and then perform like that. You guys might be on life support. That secondary is atrocious. Not only did you let Dallas torch it, but you also let them get to Wentz, who has looked off pretty much the entire season. You need to take a good look at yourselves. Next time, remember the golden rule of talking trash: if you say something, you'd better back it up.
The Chargers may have lost the game in the most Chargers way possible. They had not one, not two, but three chances at a win, but no. YOU BLEW IT! First, Austin Ekeler came up short, then Melvin Gordon was stopped twice and had a game-losing fumble. One yard short. Ironically, it was against the Titans, who are known for the one yard short moniker. Congratulations, Chargers - you're now 2-5 and got outplayed by Ryan Tannehill. Go sit in the corner and think about what you did.
Guys, what are you doing? Kyler outperformed fellow rookie Daniel Jones, and Saquon Barkley was back, but there was one person who countered Saquon for the Cardinals: Chase Edmonds. He had himself a game and secured a win for the Cardinals. Good job, guys. You're ruining your own tank. Enjoy your four-win season.
The Vikings handled business against the Lions, who can't catch a break. Kirk Cousins had a great game, and of course, Cook and Thielen both had solid performances. Minnesota is right back in the mix, while Detroit falls and can only blame itself this time. Minnesota, congrats on the win and a likely wild card berth. Don't blow it.
What is so surprising about the Patriots' game? You were expecting a blowout, and that's what we got. The Patriots and Niners' defenses are two of the best this year.
