Top 10 Worst Halo Guns
Playing campaign single player on Legendary: Jackal overcharges shot, boom, shields gone. Go behind cover, shields recover, come out, ANOTHER overcharged shot from the Jackal. Flipping Brute or Elite comes in and effortlessly kills me.
If I was neck-deep in poop, surrounded by five hundred Sangheili, with no guns or grenades, on a planet about to be glassed, with everything around me blown up, I STILL WOULDN'T USE IT!
Aside from taking down shields and EMP on vehicles, it's worthless. All other guns can at least kill someone.
The Magnum sucks in Halo 3. It's got a huge kick and a loud bang but does nothing. It's so slow, and you can't even scope in with it like in every other Halo game. I couldn't even headshot grunts with this thing.
This sucks. It only shoots once, then it takes a long time just so you can shoot again. I like guns where you can hit repeatedly many times.
I agree that overall it's not a very good weapon. In Halo 3, it might even nearly be as bad as the plasma pistol. But in Halo CE, this thing is a beast, especially against the Flood.
Besides shooting Flood infection forms, there really is nothing that this gun is useful for. The plasma pistol is unfairly criticized in this top 10. When overcharged and used in combination with a carbine against elites, it is absolutely lethal.
Low accuracy, bullets fly everywhere. Very overrated. Good at taking out shields, but there's already another rapid-fire weapon in the SMG. I would not use it during any campaign or match on Heroic or higher difficulty.
Yeah right, it is the worst weapon they've ever made. It's my least favorite weapon, but in Halo 2 you don't have it because it got replaced by the SMG. The Battle Rifle from Halo 2 is the best weapon. The Assault Rifle is bad.
Pretty much all the other guns on this list are awesome to use. The Brute Shot is an amazing weapon. Dual-wield SMGs/Magnums are a fantastic combo. A charged plasma pistol, along with a precision weapon, makes an epic duo.
The plasma rifle is just bad, though. It takes a long time to kill someone after their shields are down. This and the Plasma Repeater are bad.
You're not supposed to kill someone with it. You're supposed to use it to drop their shields and finish them off with a headshot or melee.
This gun was actually really good in Halo 2. If I found it in-game, I would usually pick it up. It had pretty bad damage but a good fire rate and good ammo. Also, the gun never really had any kick.
However, it really started to suck in Halo 3, especially in ODST. In ODST, the gun had a silencer on it, which took away its already low damage (not to mention that the silencer didn't help with stealth whatsoever). It also had a pointless scope on it. Lastly, the gun had such a high kick. You could be looking down at the ground, shoot three bullets, and then be looking straight up into the air.
The silenced SMG is one of the reasons I think Halo 3: ODST is the second-worst Halo game. The award for worst would have to go to Halo Wars.
The only thing this gun is good at is taking out vehicles. Its knockback makes it easy to flip Ghosts and Warthogs really easily.
It arcs from gravity and really doesn't have the punch it needs to be effective.
Simply put, the Concussion Rifle is merely a lighter Fuel Rod Gun.
The gun is complete garbage. You get ten shots off, it overheats, and then it takes three seconds for your guy to finally be able to fire again. By that time, you're dead. All in all, complete garbage.
This weapon is totally garbage. I will take a regular rifle over any Storm Rifle, but not the Sentinel Beam.
Doesn't do much damage, overheats too fast. Let's just face it, it's a terrible weapon.
It is pretty underpowered, bad at close range, and I never get enough hits to get a supercombine. I use it only when absolutely necessary and will usually just pass by when I see one on the ground. However, I like that it is a very unique weapon.
The Needler got buffed so significantly in Halo 2 that it actually took several mags just to kill one person. And that's if all the rounds hit, too!
Terrible bullet speed, overly ridiculous spread. You must be at closer than close range to even hope to kill anything. Far and away the worst weapon in any Halo game.
How is it that all the guns 343 half-assed into Halo 4 are crap? Someone really messed up when it came to making this horrible weapon.
Weak, bad aim, and nothing new. Looked okay though.
The only reason you pick this up is because you burnt through pretty much everything else during the campaign. It feels clunky and useless most of the time.
In Halo 2 Anniversary, the weapon melts people. But in Halo 3 and the original Halo 2, it kind of sucks.
It was a cool idea for sentinel-related weapons but didn't do much effectively.
It was okay in Halo 3, but useless in Halo 2. I loved it when new players made the mistake of picking up the "grenade launcher!"
Terrible damage but decent design and good for melee.
This old pile of dog turd is an absolutely useless, stupid creation.
The plasma rifle seemed more efficient than this, but I seriously don't see the difference. Two guns that look 90% the same with almost different names.
Good for vehicles, bad for ground players.
Not that good, but they put you in a lot of situations in Halo 4 where you have to use it.
The suppressor is much better in my opinion.
Ridiculously easy to kill yourself with. The hitbox of the projectile also feels excessively wide, so you often accidentally hit terrain in front of the target.
Besides that, it pretty much one-shots anything.
Decent as a hitscan weapon, but it just feels clunky and weird. It combines the shield knockdown power of the plasma pistol with a short-range blast and the ability to headshot like a pistol.
This should be in the top ten. It sucks. It is worse than the Plasma Pistol. It takes a long time to shoot and barely does any damage.
The Boltshot should be the sixth worst weapon. I only use it on some of those last levels in Halo 4 when I can't find a Suppressor or Lightrifle.
Essentially the Covenant shotgun in the form of a revolver. I guess they thought it was too strong, though, because this gun is less effective than a water pistol! Even dual-wielding, if you aren't two feet away, you'll never even take their shields down! You could kill a grunt faster with a tennis ball or a handful of pebbles. Or if you tried to stab it with a really dull spoon. Yeah, those are all better options than the Mauler.
It stinks on the Spartans, but on the Flood, I think it's the best pistol.
Probably the most overrated weapon in any video game, and I'm not bad at sniping either. Using this weapon just takes the fun out of Halo. It sucks when you are sniped in multiplayer, but when I snipe, I'm instantly spotted and have to jump around to dodge oncoming enemy fire. If I wanted to play a game where you jump and shoot, I'd play Mega Man. Maybe I just suck, but it's just not fun to use.
Teammates go for the sniper and are able to get it with no enemies around. They kill with the sniper, and no enemies even attempt to fight back.
You go to grab the sniper. Suddenly your enemies start paying attention again.
The red dot will always give away your position, but if you're not hiding, it's badass. No, kickass. It's got a badass kick.
I hate the Halo 3 MCC Battle Rifle because it is too overpowered. The Battle Rifle in Halo 4 is ugly because it looks too large. I hate the Battle Rifle because it is a boring yet overpowered weapon.
It's slightly more powerful than the Assault Rifle, but it has less ammo. It is slower, and it is impossible to kill anything with it in Halo 5.
It doesn't zoom far and has a slow reload speed. It also cannot carry a lot of ammo.
On paper, it sounds good. Being able to airburst it plus the fact that it EMPs vehicles sounds pretty good. In practice, it sucks because the projectiles bounce around erratically. Also, the rate of fire is beyond terrible. It's only useful when you've got bottomless clip activated in Firefight or if you use the mounted version, which is found on some Falcons in Halo Reach.
Too long of a recharge time. It takes two shots to kill an Elite Minor, but you could use a single frag, spike, or plasma grenade to kill one. There's no point in a grenade launcher if it isn't as powerful as a pin-pulled frag.
