Top 10 Most Overused Words

The Top Ten
  1. Like

Oh my gosh, so ANNOYING. I can't have a conversation with anyone without hearing the word like every other word! It's actually really distracting.

I get it. Saying like is a bad habit that's hard to break. I used to constantly say like too, but then I realized how annoying it was to me when other people talked like that. So I cut the habit for the most part. I encourage the rest of the world to break this habit too!

I went home, she was like "ugh," and I was like "oh my god," and she was like "my life is so rough, like literally." I'm not joking.

This word is the most overused and irritating word because they use the word "like" meaning the same thing.

  2. Cringe

  3. F***

Can't you say you hate someone without cursing?

  4. Literally

I mean, this is literally the most overused word. I literally hear this word every 2 seconds. I literally wish there was a literal law banning it. Trump has to literally do something about it.

This should be #2 after the word like.

  5. Racist

Unfortunately, most people who use this word as a label or insult for the littlest things don't even know what it actually means. It's similar to the word "f***" pretty much.

It is annoying when you are referring to someone's race (like "That black kid wrote it") and then people call you racist. Also, if someone asks you if you like the colors white or black more, people will call you racist if you pick either one.

Tell me about it. Even if you are talking about your favorite color (and I'm not talking about skin color), people will call you this word. It's so overused to the point where it has no meaning at all.

  6. Overrated

Everywhere I go in TheTopTens, I see the word overrated! I can't go to one single list without seeing this word!

Especially on TheTopTens, everything and everyone is either overrated or underrated.

    The word "overrated" is overrated.

  7. Actually

  8. Awesome

This word is used more than any word I have ever heard. Especially with the rise of yoga studios and their clothes. See how long it takes for someone to use this word.

I do live in California by the beach if this matters as to the frequency of usage.

It's very overused, but when thinking of limited vocabulary, remember that English is not the mother tongue of every English commenter.

Shows a very limited vocabulary. Listens, or rather absorbs, their children's use and overuse of words.

  9. Gay

Why do people use gay and racist so much? It offends me. I'm not a social justice warrior though.

Some people use this word as an insult, which is super annoying.

  10. So

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Vibes

So annoying! Why can't people articulate anymore? This lazy speech has become the new "cool" word. It actually makes the user of the word sound intelligent and rather stupid.

  13. ?

    Nazi

OH MY GOSH, THIS ONE. Anyone who is even remotely conservative gets labeled this. It's different when it's the alt-right, but everyone seems to think it's all conservatives.

If you call anyone this, you lose my support. This word has been thrown around to the point where it's been desensitized. It's offensive to those who actually survived the Holocaust. And the media promotes it.

  14. The Contenders
  15. Totally

  16. Retarded

I hate that word. Autistic girl here, can you please not use this?

  17. Has

  18. N***a

  19. Dude

Every time I watch a YouTube video made by teens: "Dude, this is like dude, so awesome, dude, come check this out dude!" I hate it when it's said to me since I'm a girl, not a "dude."

  20. Homophobe

  21. Swag

I don't even know what this means.

  22. Bigot

  23. Badass

Especially for women, this gets used so much and I feel like it is kind of losing meaning.

  24. Hate

  25. Transphobia

  26. Bro

  27. Elitist

  28. Autistic

This isn't an insult. This is a condition that affects social interactions.
