Top 10 Stupidest Reasons to Hate Something
These are the dumbest reasons ever to hate something. Whether it's a person, a TV show, a video game, a book, a movie, or a song.
-
Everyone else hates it
One of my ex-friends, who claimed to be a huge Marvel fan, was interested in seeing Captain Marvel and then she suddenly went "I'm not seeing it now because my friends said it sucked". Seriously? You shouldn't let other people affect your interests.
If everyone else hates a show that you haven't seen yet or think is good, don't jump on the bandwagon!
-
It's overrated
"Overrated" things are things you hate that everyone else likes, not something that's bad just because it's popular.
"Overrated" means that something is liked way too much. And where does it say that thing is bad?
-
The fanbase is annoying
I always hear that in the Sonic fanbases and it's getting annoying now. Like, come on, just because the fanbase is weird doesn't mean you should hate it just to make it worse.
The fanbase does not affect the quality of something.
Fanbases can just ruin the whole enjoyment, especially with things like music nowadays.
-
It's for girls
Just for girls? Is that the extent of someone's imagination to hate something? Why not remove every Disney movie that's "just for girls" like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Mulan, or Tangled for crying out loud. (I would like to mention Frozen but people will end up ignoring this vote just because I mentioned it, that's how ridiculous society is.)
There's a show I watch that is meant for females (I'm male, by the way) and it's actually pretty good. My brother "accuses" me of watching it though.
-
It's for kids
This argument is probably why we get adult animated shows trying to be as edgy and raunchy as possible. We also get teen and adult reboots that age the characters alongside the audience.
I'm guessing they feel the need to justify still liking a kids' or family show from their childhood in order to seem "cool."
I don't care if Disney's Hercules is for kids! I'm 26, I love it very much (to the point where I am obsessed with it), and I'm proud of my obsession with the movie and TV show!
-
It's by someone you dislike
My parents hate certain songs just because they're by someone they really dislike. Take Beyoncé and Jay-Z, for example. My parents hate those two with a passion, so whenever a song by either of them comes on, they immediately skip it.
I tell them, "You can't hate a song just because it's by someone you don't like. That's stupid!"
-
It's your enemy's favorite
Now that is just really, really dumb.
-
It's long
I wish my favorite song was long, but instead it's one minute!
- I don't mind that Blue Bloods lasts for an hour instead of 30 minutes.
- I once was forced to read Harry Potter, and I didn't care that it was long.
- I don't really mind long movies that much.
-
It represents minorities
With the increase in media featuring LGBT people, I'm guessing it's an attempt to make up for a long period of underrepresentation. That may be why it ends up feeling more concentrated now.
What I'm talking about is sometimes people hate on a person, TV show, game, etc. for representing minorities or being a minority. For example, a person might hate a famous celebrity for being transgender. Meanwhile, someone else hates a movie for having an Asian protagonist or something. Who cares if they're a minority? Give me real reasons to hate something!
-
It is a specific genre
People are hating on songs just because they are metal or pop, and nothing more. That is dumb. Some pop and metal songs can be good.

?
To get attention
-
?
To look cool
I hate KPop Demon Hunters but people use excuses such as "you hate KPDH to look cool" but in reality it's cause it's cringe, poorly written and choppy Animation that ruined the charisma of Spider verse.
-
It's popular
-
It's associated with a gender
Remember "Dora is a Girl"? That argument is just pointless and kind of sexist. Who cares what gender the main character, celebrity, or singer is?
-
It doesn't win awards
-
It's for babies
-
It came from another country
-
It insulted something you like
-
Because of one character
-
It's from a specific source
Andi Mack is on Disney Channel (which a lot of people hate, but it is getting better in 2017), and it is one of my favorite shows.
-
Your least favorite actor/actress is in it
-
It’s for boys
Never actually heard this as a reason to dislike something.
-
You'll get attacked for liking it
-
It's dumb
-
It's not popular
If you're a Rana fan and Rana's not a popular vocaloid, doesn't mean you can start hating her.
-
The plot is formulaic
-
It's boring
