Top 10 Best Shoujo Manga Couples

When it comes to shoujo manga, some of the most memorable moments often revolve around the couples who bring these stories to life. These aren't just pairs that look cute together - they're characters whose journeys with each other create some of the most intense, heartwarming, and even funny experiences in manga. Each of these couples has their own unique dynamic, from the classic bickering duos who can't stand each other at first to the long-suffering friends who finally realize they've been in love all along. These stories don't just follow them through the romantic highs. They also show the tough times, the misunderstandings, and the quiet little moments that make each relationship feel genuine and relatable.

Think about the pairs who made you feel all the emotions - those scenes that had you laughing one moment and reaching for tissues the next. Maybe it's the sheer tension of a slow-burn romance that finally pays off, or a character's unwavering support for their partner even when things get rough. These couples often bring out the best in each other, growing together as they face challenges or simply share their everyday lives. And let's be honest, half the fun is watching the little gestures, the hidden glances, and the unexpected confessions that make these relationships so special.
The Top Ten
Misaki Ayuzawa and Takumi Usui - Kaichou wa Maid-sama!

Misaki first comes off as a quick-tempered, badass feminist and hates all boys. She doesn't especially adore Usui like the other girls do. However, Usui takes a liking to Misaki and begins to follow, protect, and win her over. It's the sweetest thing I've ever come across in shoujo manga.

Mikan Sakura and Natsume Hyuuga - Gakuen Alice

I have cried a thousand times for this couple. The manga is a MUST READ!

I love this couple! Mikan and Natsume are the cutest, most adorable, and beautiful couple in Gakuen Alice. I wish I could see more of them, but I think that couldn't be possible. Even though, I LOVE YOU NATSUME!

Probably one of my favorite ships in any manga or anime.

Haruhi Fujioka and Tamaki Suoh - Ouran High School Host Club

Yes! TamaHaru forever! The reason I ship them so much is that Tamaki is really weird sometimes, and Haruhi balances it out. Especially since, if Kyoya and Haruhi were a couple, we'd all be doomed to an eternity of sarcasm!

I love all the funny moments these two have. Especially the "I'm making a tiny hamster home." That gets me every time!

They suit each other so well, even if they have different personalities.

Kyoko Mogami and Ren Tsuruga - Skip Beat!

I really love Skip Beat! Even though they are very unlike other shoujo manga couples, for me, they are one of the hottest, cutest, and most beautiful couples. Each has their own personal struggles, and I like how they overcome them.

What I like most about these two is Kyoko. She is very independent, and she is not the annoying, whiny type of girl. And Ren Tsuruga - he is the total package. He's mature (my type of guy), handsome, can be cool and hot, can be cute sometimes, has ambition and passion, and what I like most about him is that he is very understanding toward Kyoko. He doesn't rush things that might hurt her.

Anyway, even though they are so slow, they are still one of the best love stories I have come across because of each character's maturity (although they can be childish, but that only makes them cuter).

Hisato Yanagi and Mikoto Kujou - Last Game

This needs to get an anime. The story is light, heartwarming, and compelling. The storytelling is simple and gradual, and the characters are easily relatable. For Yanagi, who shows Kujou the world, and Kujou, who shows Yanagi how to care, this couple loves each other and accepts each other's flaws and weaknesses.

To be honest, I have no idea why I fell in love with this manga, but somehow it has something - perhaps like hot chocolate during a frosty winter - that warms your heart.

Seriously adorable! They should end up together mainly because they like each other, and Yanagi has loved Kujou for 10 YEARS! I'm going to explode from the cuteness!

Sawako Kuronuma and Shouta Kazehaya - Kimi ni Todoke
Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura - Horimiya

The best romance and slice-of-life manga I have ever read. The art is glamorous, the plot is simple yet so intriguing, and the characters are marvelously portrayed and absolutely lovable. Horimiya leaves a sweet feeling in your heart and a great experience in your mind.

It is so simple yet so sweet. I'm glad I found the story.

Yes, this is the sweetest, most comedic romance ever, but it always makes you want to keep reading.

Risa Koizumi and Atsushi Otani - Lovely Complex

Best couple, no contest. Unlike most of the couples on this list, these two actually have a believable romance that grows over the series. They both initially dislike each other but end up becoming really good friends once they discover how similar their interests are.

They support each other endlessly and want the other to succeed, even when they weren't romantically involved. Once they become a couple, they're still the same as ever, but now they kiss!

This is THE ultimate couple! They get past their extreme height differences and fall in love, which so many people are unable to do. They also have such good chemistry and are so hilarious together. You'll be laughing out loud.

Nanami Momozono and Tomoe - Kamisama Hajimemashita

I love how Nanami handles Tomoe and accepts him despite his past. I also adore how Tomoe puts Nanami's needs as his first priority. Moreover, I like how they help each other become better people. They're one of the sweetest and most lovable shoujo couples I've encountered.

This couple is so cute, and no matter what obstacles they face, they still overcome them. If one of them has a hard time, the other will always be there to support them.

Best pairing ever and one of the most hilarious ones, too. I love Tomoe and Nanami.

Princess Yona and Son Hak - Akatsuki no Yona

Hak is one sexy and handsome character. He is so devoted that he is willing to sacrifice his life and happiness for the person he loves.

Yona is one of the best female main characters in the shoujo world. She's bubbly, kind, and loving toward her friends and family, but a bit (actually, more than a bit) dense when it comes to romance.

HakYona is one of the best couples because they both fight to protect each other and are willing to give up their own happiness for the sake of the other.

I have been reading this manga ever since the first chapter was published, and I instantly fell in love with all the characters, the overall story, and, of course, the ship between Yona and Hak! They have developed in such a beautiful way over the years, and I feel like their relationship is very realistic with its ups and downs.

I haven't found another ship that I like as much as this one.

The Newcomers

? Utau Hoshina and Ikuto Tsukiyomi - Shugo Chara!
? Usagi Tsukino and Mamoru Chiba - Sailor Moon
The Contenders
Tohru Honda and Kyo Sohma - Fruits Basket

Do I need to say why? They've both been through hell and back, and they just fit so well together. They are polar opposites, but still so alike.

Kyo needs someone as forgiving and loving as Tohru so he can slowly learn to accept and love himself. Tohru needs someone who is a bit more straightforward with her, allowing her to be selfish once in a while. They bring out the best in each other, and they are both a big part of each other's development throughout the series.

One of my favorite cat x human ships! They're so kawaii together.

Yuki Machida and Shou Naruse - Namaikizakari

I'm picky when it comes to the mangas I read. If I get bored within the first 10 chapters, I'll never finish it. However, Namaikizakari definitely hooked me from the first chapter to the latest. The chemistry between Naruse and Yuki is so great that I always end up squealing whenever they get lovey-dovey. #BestCouple

The emotional intelligence in this series is certainly the greatest I've seen in shoujo manga. Both main characters have their quirks that will make you scream and melt over and over again. I do not lie when I say that you will become obsessed with this.

Suzume Yosano and Daiki Mamura - Hirunaka no Ryuusei
Tasuku Kurosaki and Teru Kurebayashi - Dengeki Daisy

I love this couple! They are so cute, and sometimes they look so cool together.

They look so cute together! Kurosaki is always there for Teru.

Sakura Kinomoto and Syaoran Li - Cardcaptor Sakura

One of the couples we grew up with. Pure, cute, and iconic. You can't call yourself a shoujo manga fan if you don't know them!

They are such a cute couple, and I love the moments when Sakura makes Syaoran blush just by smiling.

Chihaya Ayase and Taichi Mashima - Chihayafuru

In my opinion, Taichi seems too perfect. I understand that they're cute together, but I feel that Arata is more imperfect, and that's what makes everything interesting. I think Arata changes more as the story goes on, and I really enjoy seeing that development.

They're so natural together! Taichi is always there for Chihaya, supporting her in silence. Taichi's undying and dedicated love for Chihaya is just the sweetest form of love, even compared to most manga.

Futaba Yoshioka and Kou Mabuchi - Ao Haru Ride

It's a story of childhood friends falling in love. Before that, they have to find out who they are as people. There's a bit of a love triangle as well.

Overall, it's a fun (and sometimes aggravating) story.

Futaba-chan and Kou-kun have been through so much, and finally, finally, they got their happy ending!

They are sooo cute. Honestly, I feel like I can hear my heart beat when I see them together.

Ninako Kinoshita and Ren Ichinose - Strobe Edge
Shizuku Mizutani and Haru Yoshida - Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun

Shizuku-chan is the more silent type, and Haru-kun is the more outgoing type, but still, they are such a great couple!

They're so adorable together, and they really helped each other grow as people! They were meant to be together.

Amu Hinamori and Ikuto Tsukiyomi - Shugo Chara!

I LOVE Ikuto and Amu. This is endgame! Tadase is cute, yes, but the creators make it really clear that he is just her first and childhood love, while Ikuto is meant to be the love of her life.

Kiri Koshiba and Shougo Narumi - Beauty Pop
Ichigo Amano and Makoto Kashino - Yumeiro Patissiere

They both suit each other well due to their different but complementary personalities.

Chizuru Yoshida and Ryu Sanada - Kimi ni Todoke
Hikari Hanazono and Kei Takishima - Special A

They're perfect for each other!

Kanade Tachibana and Yuzuru Otonashi - Angel Beats!
