Best Mortal Kombat 9 Characters

The Top Ten
1 Scorpion Scorpion is a recurring player character and occasional boss character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. His debut is in the first Mortal Kombat game.

He slashes people's faces, making their brains flow out. He can summon demons from hell and has cool attire in every game (except, in my opinion, his head shape in the game where his head is scorpion-shaped). Other than that, he even screams GET OVER HERE! by pulling you with his kunai or the rope dart, if you prefer.

Mortal Kombat 9 is not really Mortal Kombat 9. It is a remake of the Trilogy and Mortal Kombat 4. People called it Mortal Kombat 9 because it's the 9th installment.

2 Sub-Zero Sub-Zero is a video game character from the Mortal Kombat series and one of the original characters in the first Mortal Kombat game in 1992. A mainstay of the series, Sub-Zero is the only character who has appeared in every main Mortal Kombat fighting game.

Sub-Zero could be number one. He is awesome with his combos, his ice sword, and turning people to ice. Practically, he is the best cryomancer and is also the leader of the Lin Kuei. However, he doesn't scream GET OVER HERE! If only he did that, there could be a tie because I like both characters. Anyways, GET OVER HERE!

Easily the most cerebral fighter. He can control the game's pace, play offense and defense, set traps, and lay a ton of damage on you in the corner. He is a slower character, but his ability to manage the spacing of a fight more than makes up for it.

3 Reptile Reptile is a video game character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise created for Midway Games by Ed Boon and John Tobias. He debuted in Mortal Kombat as a hidden opponent and appeared in subsequent titles as a playable character, also appearing in the merchandise and other media related... read more

Reptile isn't only one of the most unique fighters, but is also, in my opinion, one of the best. Surprised Sub-Zero isn't up here, though. Nice list.

4 Johnny Cage Johnny Cage is a fictional video game character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games. He was introduced as one of the series' original seven player characters in the first Mortal Kombat game in 1992, and has become a staple of the series.

Guys, Johnny is really cool. Do you know the nut punch and the green ball he throws? I was the one who always watched Johnny Cage videos.

Johnny Cage is the boss! He even has the best quote when he wins a round, and to be honest, it fits him more than anybody else... "Damn, I'm good!"

Who doesn't love the classic nut punch?

5 Noob Saibot Noob Saibot, is a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He debuted as an unplayable hidden character in Mortal Kombat II, in which he was a black silhouette of the game's other male ninjas, and made his first selectable appearance in the console versions of Ultimate Mortal... read more

He is a very good character. His shadows keep you at bay, and his teleport can get you if you play his projectile game. If he gets you with his ghost ball, your health will be torn away by his shadows. His X-ray deals massive damage, and his fatality is, as everyone should be, BRUTAL! So yeah, Noob isn't the best, but he's top 10, maybe 7.

Noob is a very powerful character. He has a pretty fast fighting speed and deals high damage. What I like most about him is that he uses fear to defeat his opponents.

One of the best fatalities I have ever seen. He plays a very good role in the storyline.

Best character for sure.

6 Sonya Blade Sonya Blade is a video game character from the Mortal Kombat series. Debuting in the original Mortal Kombat game from 1992, she was a late addition to the game as developers decided deep into the development cycle that the game needed a female character.

She kicks major ass. She has sweet moves and is not afraid of anyone.

Sonya is badass, the best character in Mortal Kombat.

She looks sexier than ever. Great new outfit.

7 Liu Kang Liu Kang is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the Mortal Kombat fighting game series from Midway Games, introduced as one of the original seven player characters in the 1992 first game as a Shaolin monk who enters the Mortal Kombat tournament to save Earthrealm.

He has awesome attacks and is easily mastered. He isn't hard to use and has amazing combos. Love him. No homo.

Best combos in the game and the best combos to connect to one another.

Liu Kang is the quickest and strongest character in Mortal Kombat 9.

8 Kabal Kabal is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, who made his debut in Mortal Kombat 3.

He's just a really great character! I've used him for quite a while now, and he's always my favorite character when I play with my brothers and have little tourneys and such. Truly devastating blows.

One of the best characters ever in Mortal Kombat 9. Yeah, he was a bit too hideous, and his hair sucks in MK9, but you gotta love Kabal. His hookswords are just top-notch, and he's super fast too. He is just one of the best. It's sad that he gets killed by Sindel in MK9.

Wow, I had no idea this guy was so popular! I love Kabal! Weird costume he has, but very cool fighter. Did not expect to like him.

9 Ermac Ermac is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games. The character originated due to rumors over a diagnostics menu listing that displayed the text ERMACS, followed by claims of an alleged glitch in the first game.

Ermac is made up of the souls of many fighters. It should come as no surprise that he is one of the best all-rounders in the game. Just awesome.

This guy has a counterattack for every character up his sleeve.

Great moves and combos, great appearance, possibly the best magic power, and a nice history following the original trilogy and being shrouded in mystery in MK3.

10 Raiden Raiden is a video game character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series by Midway Games. Making his official debut as one of the original seven playable characters in 1992's Mortal Kombat, he is one of the central characters of the franchise.

His best combo can make 42% damage. It's easy to use, and his teleporting is also easy to use and really useful. If you use it wisely, you can kill Shao Kahn and Goro really easily without being damaged at all.

By the way, I only played it for two days, and I already learned to use every character. I liked it.

He uses lightning like no other. He can do some serious damage in kombat.

He is the strongest in all Mortal Kombat. He is the true leader.

The Contenders
11 Mileena Mileena is a character from the Mortal Kombat franchise who debuted in the sequel Mortal Kombat II as a clone of Kitana by Shang Tsung using Tarkatan DNA resulting in her mouth having razor sharp teeth that of a Tarkatan like Baraka, she hated her sister Kitana and vowed to destroy her and take over... read more

Mileena has great combos, a cool design, and her personality and background are also awesome.

Half beauty and half beast, I heard someone say. If she had a normal mouth, she'd be Kitana #2.

Although she can be really cheap if you use her right, she still has a unique look and fighting style. Despite her mouth, she's arguably one of, if not the most, sexy girls in the series.

12 Freddy Krueger Fred "Freddy" Krueger is the main antagonist of the A Nightmare on Elm Street film series. He first appeared in Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).
13 Cyrax Cyrax is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, who made his debut in Mortal Kombat 3.

I love to use all the different gadgets he has.

His net attack doesn't really allow you to jump over it like other projectiles, plus he is lethally fast.

His net and other cool stuff can prove a cyborg can beat ass.

14 Kitana Kitana is a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat media franchise, where she was introduced as one of the new player characters in the fighting game Mortal Kombat II in 1993. Since then, Kitana appeared in a majority of Mortal Kombat series' video games and its other media, including the films... read more

Just started playing MK with MK9 for the 360. Tried almost all of the characters, but I just felt very confident and smooth when using Kitana for the first time. Definitely the best start I had with any character in a fighting game!

Man! She uses her fans and wins all the time.

15 Jade Jade is a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game series by Midway Games. Debuting in 1993's Mortal Kombat II as an unplayable secret character who was a green palette swap of Kitana, Jade made her first playable appearance in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. She has since become a regular... read more

Jade is the prettiest, sexiest, and funniest. Of course, she's the hottest when she does her pole dance. Though I love her costume 1.

Nice to see Jade again. She kicks ass, and her new look is wonderful.

Awesome kick from her... love the speed.

16 Smoke Smoke is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios. He debuted in Mortal Kombat II (1993) as a hidden opponent and became a secret playable character in Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), making him the franchise's first unlockable fighter. In keeping... read more

Hardly anyone can catch up to Smoke when he is on offense, and he has many defensive options too.

I really love Smoke. The teleport combos and other combos are just amazing. Please love Smoke more!

His style of play is unique, and if you combo him right, he can be devastating and unbeatable. Plus, he's a demon.

17 Kung Lao Kung Lao is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios. A Shaolin monk, he debuted in Mortal Kombat II (1993). He is depicted as a primary hero in the series, including as one of the protagonists of the action-adventure spin-off Mortal... read more

Seriously, one of THE best characters! I really love his combos and his brutal fatality!

Hard to master, but when you do, everyone will wish they never fought you.

18 Kratos Kratos is a fictional character and the titular primary protagonist and anti-hero of the God of War video game series. He is a demi-god who seeks retribution and vengeance on Ares and later, the Greek Gods after he was betrayed and was forced to kill his family .

He beat all of the gods and is a demigod. He is the strongest of all characters and has a lot of powerful weapons too.

Kratos' power is so unbalanced. I only lost one round on the challenge tower as him.

He may be slow, but he can dish out a lot of damage easily. I discovered a 42% damage combo with no meters used.

19 Sektor Sektor is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He made his debut in Mortal Kombat 3.
20 Stryker

Stryker proves you do not need ice balls or magical powers to kick ass. Stryker is the best!

Stryker DESERVES to be in the top 10, the best, not the worst! Screw ScrewAttack!

If you can master his special attacks, you can beat anyone.

21 Kano Kano is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He is one of the few original characters, debuting in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game.

Underrated character, high damage and good finishing moves. Would probably be used more if he wasn't an antagonist.

22 Rain

He has the best combos seen so far, capable of inflicting more than 60% damage.

Although he uses water, he can still beat someone very quickly.

I love Rain because he has great combos and a strong game strategy.

23 Baraka Baraka is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. Baraka was introduced in Mortal Kombat II in 1993 as an unpredictable warrior in service of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn.

Very fast character, easily played for both fast-paced offensive moves and counters, and also quite easy to use.

24 Kenshi Takahashi Kenshi is a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games.

Kenshi is one of the most deadly fighters at any range, using his telekinetic clones to combo you and close-range attacks to pummel you.

Kenshi has really good power, like Ermac but better. His is blue. Ermac copied Kenshi.

25 Cyber Sub-Zero

I love that teleport trick he does.
