Top 10 Strongest Mortal Kombat Characters

Scorpion
Scorpion is a recurring player character and occasional boss in the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. He made his debut in the original Mortal Kombat (1992) and is recognizable by his yellow ninja outfit. His iconic catchphrase, Get over here!, is often used in... read more
Scorpion looks the coolest and is definitely the strongest. He has hellfire swords get over here spears and can teleport. He is a misunderstood character who needs to be in first place due to his awesomeness
This guy and his clan attacked the Special Forces! Ninjas with swords and kunais vs people with AK's Gatling Guns, RPG's and the Shirai Ryu WON. Yes he does have a short temper but that is what gets him to control his powers. Think of him as a badass Hulk.
Scorpion! My overall favorite character. I’m not dissing anyone else’s opinion but the thing I like most about Scorpion is his backstory (Wife and Baby killed) I also like his power (Control Hellfire) and mostly his weapons! (Chains and daggers) But one more thing is when a fight first starts and Scorpion walks in the arena you can hear his chains rattling!

Sub-Zero
Sub-Zero is a video game character from the Mortal Kombat series and one of the original fighters introduced in the first game, released in 1992. He is known for his ice-based powers, including the ability to freeze opponents. Sub-Zero is the only character to have appeared in every main entry of the... read more
Sub-zero should have been posted above scorpion only because his fighting style is much better. They make all these videos of scorpion killing him but I believe that's only because scorpion has such a powerful hate twords him for what quanchi did to his clan. If sub zero shared that same rage I believe it would be over in mear seconds. I respect both guys but sub-zero is overall a more skilled fighter. At times maybe not as ready but the original sub-zero takes the win for sure.
Not sure if anyone knows but the original sub-zero Bi Han beat 'scorpion' aka hanzo hasashi twice before he was killed the first time being when hanzo was human and a second time when he was in his more badass hellfire form and only lost the third fight finally being overwhelmed.
-

Immortality is not the only reason why I respect this MK character. As many have pointed before me, he held his own against the deadly alliance of Quan Chi and Tsang Sung. He vanquished Shao Khan with the endowments bestowed by the elder gods. He selflessly sacrificed himself against Onaga. Finally, he (spoiler alert) decapitated Shinnok in the latest installment after being corrupted by the tainted Jinsei. You can argue on brute strength to Onaga, influence to the alliance, and will power to scorpion, but overall, as far as being a well rounded leader, Raiden wins.
Though it wasnt him who took down Shinnok, he straight up decapitated him, and is now way more powerful with Shinnok's amulet. Even without it, HE CONTROLS LIGHTNING. Teleports, lightning traps, lightning fly, lightning bolts, he can literally generate insane amounts of electricity and just completely obliterate Scorpion in one blow just because he's so iconic and well known to the MK genre, it doesn't mean he's the most powerful, yea he has chained spears, dual swords, Raiden can easily catch his spear and just electricute him, basically, Scorpion's weapons doesn't make any difference whatsoever to his level of power. And lets not forget that Raiden IS AN ELDER GOD. With such power to conduct AS MUCH ELECTRICITY AS HE WANTS, he can even obliterate the whole MK roster without breaking a sweat. That is the end of my theory on my Raiden should be number 1.

Due to fan interest, he was eventually... read more
Ermac is the greatest character (Or ninja) In my opinion; and honestly Ermac should at #10 instead of Shang Tsung. Even in the original timeline Ermac was the once whom taught Kenshi telekinesis (or just the TK slam), but a warrior whom originally was created by the magics from Shao kahn to be used labeled as his greatest enforcer; and now as a mysterious warrior freed from Shao kahns control and becoming a force of good is honestly one of the greatest character stories in the game... Ermac may be silent and enigmatic, but his soul based magic (Sorcery) and psychic powers could over whelm any of the fighters below him and prove a great match up to the ones before him.
-
Shao Kahn
Shao Kahn is a boss, announcer, and recurring playable character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. Introduced in Mortal Kombat II in 1993, he is the primary antagonist of the video game series and its extended franchise.... read more
Shao Kahn is way stronger than Onaga. first of all, in Armageddon, Shao Kahn is dragged from the pyramid by Onaga. in mk9, Shao Kahn returns and receives the power of Blaze. therefore Shao Kahn must've defeated Onaga again, this time fair and square. on top of this, towards the end of mkx, all the elder gods joined forces with Raiden to attack the Kahn, yet it barely tickled him as he described the elder gods as being "mere toothless worms". Hence, Shao Kahn is much stronger than Onaga and is therefore the most powerful being in the mk universe.
He is so powerful the gods were afraid of him. They had to cheat in order to beat him. He's and absolute monster and most of the time he doesn't even try as he taunts you. His hammer weighs a crap ton and he solely took over as emperor of Outworld because his trickery. People say Onaga would beat him cause the only way Kahn one was poison but in his prime Shao Kahn would destroy any foe.
-
Kano
Kano is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He is one of the original characters, making his debut in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game in 1992. Kano is known for his cybernetic eye and affiliation with the Black Dragon criminal organization.
One of the more high damage characters; the kanoball is one of the simplest special moves to preform and is really effective.
-
Onaga
Onaga, the Dragon King, is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He made his first appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deception, where he served as the main antagonist and final boss. Onaga is known for his immense strength and his power to resurrect fallen warriors.
Onaga is the previous ruler of Outword. In Deception, Raiden, Shinnok, and Quanchi, put together all their strength to beat Onaga, but all that just ended up knocking him back a few meters. Also, in the story mode, the whole time, Shujinko spent years completing a quest. But in the end, it was just Onaga tricking him into bringing him back.
Guy walked through an Elder God and two of the strongest sorcerers attacks and then brushed off said Elder God's sacrifice explosion like it was a party popper.
One on one with no interference, Onaga would anhilate any other kombatant.
-
Baraka
Baraka is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. -

Quanchi can bring back the dead. He's also the back cunning person in Mortal Kombat, he killed Scorpion, his family, and his clan disguising as Sub-Zero, then brought him back to life so Scorpion can work for him and kill the real Sub Zero. So once he was killed, Quanchi brought him back to life as well so he can work for him as well, his name is now Noob Saibot. A while later, Noob's younger brother took on the name as Sub Zero
Quran chi is an amazing player and deserves to be in the top 5
He looks like Pinhead on steroids... Total badass.
-
Jason Voorhees
Jason Voorhees is a fictional character from the Friday the 13th horror film series. He first appeared in the original 1980 movie as the young son of the killer, Mrs. Voorhees. Over the course of the series, Jason became the central antagonist, known for wearing a hockey mask.
Jason has to be the strongest of them all especially because of his ways of crucially killing people and how he isn't scared of anyone, as a matter of fact what look he has against his opponent.
He should be number one because he is unstoppable and always comes back for revenge.
Of course it would be Jason he is like huge but leather face looks op

Liu Kang is should be up around the top. He has defeated Shao Khan, Shang Tsung, and plenty of others. Scorpion should definitely not be #1 and should not be above Liu Kang. Liu Kang has also won multiple tournaments. He would beat characters that are above him in this list.
Lui Kang won the 10th Mortal Kombat tournament, he beat Shao Kahn, Goro, and Shang Tsung.
He won the Mortal Kombat tournament with a very good and spectacular fighting style
-
One Being
No brainer, I am an atheist but the premise of an omnipotent being speaks for itself. The elder gods themselves united to defeat this God, the elder gods are reputedly the strongest beings in the franchise, Raiden is a minor god though still stronger than the majority if non gods. Shinnok should in theory be unstoppable then unless when against another elder god or greater. Onaga was far above Raiden and the Deadly Alliance and was just a tool for this said One Being, gives you some idea of how powerful it must be.
He is the strongest by far should be on the top the elder gods could barely defeat him
-
Blaze
He's completely made of fire and lava, and no human has ever beat him except Taven. In Armageddon, Argus, Taven's dad, made him so he could beat everyone, but Taven ended up beating him.
Actually blaze is the most powerful Mortal Kombat character of all time. He caused Armageddon by devouring existence itself. No one can beat blaze.
Blaze actually deserves to be number 1. Without question.
-
Kenshi
Takahashi Kenshi is a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise, originally developed by Midway Games. He debuted in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, released in 2002. Kenshi is a blind swordsman who possesses telekinetic abilities, making him a unique fighter in the series.

Noob is awesome! He is the original Sub Zero and has ties to Smoke and Sindel. He is very Unique like Scorpion and is plenty strong to whip anyone!
I believe Noob Saibot should be higher; Being an undead wraith whom's power is based on the dark shadows, means you cannot die.
Why the heck is he not listed here?
-
Shang Tsung
Shang Tsung is a character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He first appeared in the original 1992 arcade game as the final boss. Known for his sorcery and ability to steal the souls of defeated opponents, he remains one of the franchise's most enduring villains.
Shang Tsung is the right hand man of Shao Kahn, and is a very powerful wizard. No one was able to beat him for 90 years. Also, he can take away souls and transform into other people and take their power as well. So if done right, he can transform for a few minutes. He mainly uses this for manipulation though.
