Top 10 Reasons Why Pop is the Most Hated Genre in Music

so a lot of peole hate pop music so i made this list
The Top Ten
1 Pop singers use too much auto tune

It disgusts me that there are many fantastic singers who can't get work and yet guys who use autotune can. While I don't mind it if it's used for effect (like on Daft Punk's One More Time), when it's used to hide the fact that one can't sing for toffee, then it infuriates me. The worst thing to happen to music in the last 20 years of which started out (like of a lot of bad pop trends) in the 90's. Cheers Cher!

Actually classic pop singers like elvis presley didn't use auto tune. That's why I only listen some of the old pop songs

Autotune just sucks. It makes singer sounds like a robot and it hides the real singing talent.

#BrunoMars is the best singer today, he don't need autotune cause studio and live is same sound.

2 No instruments are played

I will said this once, so I will say it again. Just because there aren't any instruments does not devalue the quality of music. The electronic genre itself is full of talented producers who manage to take a variety of sounds and make it sound cohesive. Of course, there is good and bad pop music, but using instruments as an excuse not to listen to a song really limits your scope.

"I will said (sic) this once..." Say it 'til the mountains are blown to dust--you'll still be wrong. It's artificial. It's FAKE. It's dehumanized. Doesn't matter if humans are turning knobs and sliding slides. That. Doesn't. Make. Them. Musicians. Therefore, they are not making music. Not in any desirable sense.

Usually, I don't mind the lack of instruments in music. There here been good musicians who don't play, and awful ones who can (Nickelback anyone? ). Still, the fact that the majority of today's performers can't play is another layer to the lack of individuality in today's music scene.

Well, I guess you have your own opinion. I won't argue with it.

3 Only few talented singers

No longer are there any Mercurys, Dickinsons, Halfords, Houstons, Careys, Franklins, Jacksons etc. in today's industry. Most singers you hear are either mediocre pub/karaoke singers or are so drenched in autotune that you can't tell. The best pop singer today is Ariana Grande and even then her material isn't really up to scratch. To summarise, there is a lack of talented singers in the pop scene and those who are have nothing to work with. Amazing.

You mean NO talented singers

4 Lack of creativity in some music videos

Like 90% of music videos today only show two people kissing, a person crying after a break up/being cheated on, or people getting high at a party, and the lyrics are just the same.

I beg to differ

5 It's annoying when you always hear it

It's annoying when you always hear ANY genre of music, not just pop

One word. Overplayed.

6 Kids like pop music so much

I do not understand how kids and my siblings nowadays including my former and new classmates listening so much modern pop music (including Pinoy Pop music nowadays). I am an electronic soul music fan and composer and I need to help our local artists (Pinoy Artist) to make more original songs and beats instead of distributing or making cover songs (local or foreign songs).

When I was in primary everyone would just gossip all the time about dumb pop stars and sing their lyrics.

That's the only explanation. After all, who else is buying this stuff?

Being "well-respected" (whatever that means) is certaintly no guarantee of taste. Faulty logic.

7 Some pop lyrics are nonsense

"before you came into my life I missed you so bad" (call me maybe)
there's an example of a pop lyric that's nonsense

8 Pop fans called people who don't like pop are B***hes

If by "purists" you mean people who've been listening to, and often making, music for many years, and who actually enjoy multiple types of GOOD music, then yes. You don't have to be an "elitist" to not "dignify" pop and rap. You simply need to have ears, and an experienced understanding of the difference between music and, well, NOT music.

I don't know who you were hanging out with, but there are good and bad people everywhere.

9 You only hear pop music
10 Some music videos are disgusting

Most people do say it's only the music video for Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus that's bad, not the song itself, though I still hate Miley Cyrus myself as she is now.

Like the video for anaconda

The Contenders
11 Pop musicians only rely on looks to get popular

Yes ONLY their looks, not stage presence not general musical knowledge. And they NEVER EVER think about their voice. EVER

12 It is mass produced to meet demand

This causes it to lose emotion as it is forced and often times not written by the original singer.

13 You don't know what they're saying

Chopped and jumbled vocals and words being mumbled and obscured by the music, yet many pop listeners complain about metal being like that. Also, they should look at lyrics.

That's metal music.

14 Pop isn't even a legit genre

It is. Compare the lyrical and instrumental works of classic pop music compared to the cheesy sounding bubblegum pop. Listen also to synth pop and check how it may influence dark pop artists such as Lorde and Melina Martinez

15 It's overplayed causing people to lack an understanding and appreciation for other genres.

Pop elitists exist and they know nothing but stereotypes, and are extremely judgmental.

16 The Repetition

Yes! Thank you! Melodies are repetitive, not even decorated!

17 Four chord progression
18 Songs of other genres get more recognition when someone makes pop covers of them.
19 Forced rhyming
