Top 10 Best Verses in Paul's Letter to the Romans
This is my favorite book of the Bible, not including the Gospels. The Gospels are what Christianity is all about, so it seems obvious to me that we should study those the most. However, Paul's writings are definitely beneficial as well. I believe Paul's teachings are, most of the time, God speaking through him.So, to get to the point, what is your favorite verse in Romans?
NOTE: I am using the English Standard Version (ESV) translation.
One of my favorite verses in the whole Bible. So incredibly encouraging. We all must remember when going through difficult times that Jesus is working in us, things will get better, and all the trials of life will turn to gold! It reminds me of what Lauren Daigle sings in "O' Lord," "You'll take all that is wrong and make it right!" It's such good stuff!
Yes, there are two verses here. I've been trying to keep them limited to one. But this one is so good, I had to add it anyway. It also was too long to have the whole thing on here, so I put etc. to shorten it.
It's just another time you get a glimpse at Jesus' love for us. I mean, it is Paul's view, but I would trust Paul with my life.
A very simple way to show how loving God is to us. Even when we were hating Him and disobeying Him, He loved us so much to die for us! Now that's what I call true love! Thank you, Jesus!
I really like the word "free" in this verse. It emphasizes that God has given you His love without you having to do anything! I also like the way Paul calls out sin, saying sin leads to death. This verse has a very good balance of love and discipline.
Yes, it's another one with two verses. And again, I had to put this one in just because of how much I love it. He's putting the fact of us having to quit sinning, so plainly. How can we who have died to sin still live in it? We can't, of course. Thanks for the simplicity of some of these verses, Lord!
Great verse, that shows how easy it actually is to inherit the Kingdom of God, but that's only because you're getting help from Jesus. Confess He's Lord and believe Jesus rose from the dead!
A great example of how we should be treating one another. If my brother gives me 100 dollars, then I'll just give him 200 dollars in return! And the term "brotherly affection" is amazing. We must love everyone as if they were our brothers.
I see this verse as telling us to put ourselves in others' shoes. If one of our fellow followers of Christ is going through pain, we must have sympathy for them and come alongside them in all their trials. We must be there for one another! Each and every one of us needs others to help us. Don't just sit back and watch others go through trials without offering any encouragement or help. Let's all try to help one another, even if it means more pain. We're all in this together!
The evilness of this world won't go away by itself, and you can't drive it out with more sin or anger. The only way to drive out evil is to do good! We have the head knowledge, so why don't we do what we know to be good and true? We must live our lives as Jesus did. Perfect.
P.S. Do not set yourself up for failure though. I've done it too many times.
I see this verse as quite dangerous. If you take it too literally, you could just start sinning like crazy and say that it isn't you. I see this verse as Paul saying to us, don't be so hard on yourselves. If you truly don't want to do the sin, then it isn't you, it's your flesh. But again, don't take it too literally.
