Just compare "Me against the world" and "Save you" and you'll know... - Zab
They're an amazing band. After Jones died, their hits began to lower, but they still did amazing. Now, I was surprised to hear they're STILL together. I think it's time to let it go now... You can keep rocking in your hearts, Stones! - MontyPython
I like their stuffs more from '64-69. Was their best era. Back then Mick Jagger had pretty good vocals. - zxm
They have been steadily sucking the soul out of the blues and Muddy Waters dickhole since 1964. The first group of albums were ok but things really got rocky in the 80s and 90s. Keef needs to OD already and Mick needs to get a job as a carnival barker. Stick a fork in em, the bands done.
They got better, and then they got worse, which is why I'm also going to put them on the list of bands that improved over time. When they started out, they were decent, but they hadn't really found their identity. Also, the songwriting left something to be desired. However, by their third album, "Kanjou Effect," they had found their ideal sound, and their songwriting and musicianship were excellent. Even after one of their guitarists left, they still churned out two equally great albums without him, gradually adding a few effects that accented the songs and didn't take away from the excellent vocals and loud riffs. It wasn't until their sixth LP, "Jinsei * Boku =," that things started to fall apart. It's good, and most fans agree that it can stand with its predecessors, but I feel it had too many effects. Taka has a great voice, but it was put through weird filters. Also, the album was mixed so that the guitar often faded into a wall of noise rather than standing ...more
With their new lead singer, after the previous quit, they have gotten worse
I actually like the new singer (Marc Hudson), but their newest albulm Maximum Overload was trash to be honest...V 1 Comment
Their first album with mikael akerfeld on vocals was a genuine doom metal and very good, their second album got less "raw" and heavy, but still was interesting, although it marked where katatonia started getting more pipular with 13 year olds and "alternative metal" fanboys.
Don't get me wrong. Yes is an amazing band, one of my favourite ever. Yes, Time and a Word, The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Tales from Topographic Oceans, Relayer, Going for the One, Drama and 90125 are amazing albums. But big generator wasn't very good. And I don't like their new album since Jon Anderson left. ;_; I hope their next album is good. - SammySpore
Bathory was essential in the development of both black and Viking metal with their first six releases, but three of the next six releases contained about half to a whole album of thrash metal gone wrong.
With Chris DeGarmo one of the best bands ever. With Tate controlling everything, crap. Come back Chris.
Their last fantastic release was Painkiller in terms of both instrumental, vocal, and lyrical quality. The five albums after that range from simply good to terrible.
Mastodon should not be on this list, Once more round the sun was awesome. - TheRiceKing
Who remembers much anything else rather than their first two greatest albums?
Still a good band, but nothing else they've released these has been able to top "Deathcrush" and "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
