Top 10 Worst Things About Tellonym

Tellonym is an "anonymous" Q & A app that kinda sucks. If I forgot something, feel free to add it.

The Top Ten
  1. Most of the questions are from bots

I'd only say 2% of the tells, or questions, you get are from actual people. Especially with the misspellings and nonsensical derivative garbage that gets spewed, the probability of it being a bot asking you dumb things is high by default.

  2. The hints you can get with a subscription aren't helpful

Getting the subscription for the hints behind who's sending you stuff is downright pointless. You get irrelevant details like, "The sender isn't using an iPhone" or "The sender doesn't know you personally," details that add nothing and give you no context whatsoever.

  3. A lot of negative questions are sent

You'll have people who make assumptions about you, your friends, your family, and, in general, a lot of them give off toxic energy. If you're hoping to get harmless Q and A questions, well, brace yourself. I've gotten questions that are so bad, they make me wince in embarrassment.

Sounds like a modern version of Ask.fm.

  4. Boundaries are not respected on there

If you establish a boundary on Tellonym, it will not be respected there. It doesn't matter how detailed you word it, or how polite you are. People will not care and will keep pushing past your boundaries, time and time again, which is revolting all around.

  5. Most of the questions are either about dating or sex

To the point, it feels obnoxious and repetitive. Considering how I'm someone who only values platonic energy and bonds, I find this somewhat jarring.

The sexual questions are arguably even worse, and while there is a filter to ward some questions off, you can only put ten words in said filter.

  6. The ten-word filter limit

It becomes annoying because you'll try to block certain words with the filter, but then stumble upon someone who tries to get around it by phrasing things slightly differently. It's a migraine and a half. Not good design, I would argue, but that's beside the point. It should at least allow twenty words, in my opinion.

  7. A lot of the questions that get sent give off troll energy

  8. Political questions

  9. Questions about guns

  10. Frequent questions about ex romantic partner and former friends

  11. The Contenders
  12. People who assume they know you but keep asking who you are

  13. People who demand to know your location
