For every cheer-worthy moment where the Rebels blow something up or the Millennium Falcon makes the jump to hyperspace, there's a gut punch waiting around the corner. We're talking innocent people vaporized, planets wiped off the map, and characters you love meeting brutal ends.This list is all about those moments. And yes, there are a lot of contenders. Star Wars has been around for decades and in that time, it's racked up more than a few hard-hitting scenes.
The people there were living their lives until the Starkiller Base's fiery beam destroyed their home planet.
This resulted in billions of deaths, and the people were seen about to be wiped away before our very eyes.
Now, this doesn't seem true because there was only one quick shot of the planet's destruction. But when you think about all the lives there being destroyed, and the fact that this was Leia's home planet, it just makes you feel bad for them and her.
Now, it didn't blow up the moon of Jedha, but the Death Star did cause a lot of destruction on part of that moon.
The people there were incinerated in just seconds.
Just like the attack on Jedha's moon, it was very destructive and a lot of people died.
The characters in Rogue One were annihilated before our very eyes.
All those lives throughout were attacking themselves before our eyes.
This was truly dark, even for Star Wars.
Anakin Skywalker (renamed as Darth Vader) fell into the pit of Mustafar and got burned to a crisp after fighting with Obi-Wan Kenobi. This eventually led to him wearing the suit and mask that made him famous.
Obviously the saddest character death in all of Star Wars, and in a violent way as well.
Han Solo's son, Kylo Ren, stabbed him in the heart with his lightsaber.
R.I.P. to the greatest hero in all of Star Wars.
Now, this wasn't seen in the movie, but it did happen, and that was a truly dark moment to even think about.
He lost his temper after his mom died.
He was incinerated by Palpatine's lightning and thrown off hundreds of stories to Coruscant.
