Top Ten Mario Characters that Should Be in the 2022 Super Mario Movie
In the September 2021 Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that the Mario movie was in production and planned for release in December 2022. They showcased the celebrities set to voice iconic Super Mario characters such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Bowser, Donkey Kong, and Kamek.
Now, I'm wondering which other Super Mario characters will appear on the big screen. Here is the list of characters that should be included in this movie.
-
Yoshi
Yoshi, once romanized as Yossy, is a fictional anthropomorphic dinosaur featured in video games published by Nintendo. He often appears as a sidekick and helper to Mario, playing key roles in many of Nintendo's most popular titles. Yoshi is especially well known for his appearances in the Yoshi's Island... read more
He will definitely be in the second one, as we all know. If you watch after the credits, you'll see a Yoshi egg in its nest. There you have it! He'll be in the second film!
It is Mario's adorable dino companion, Yoshi. He is one of the most popular Mario characters of all time and is extremely iconic to the Super Mario franchise.
I'm surprised he has not been revealed for the movie yet.
-
Wario

He is the greedy, pink-nosed, garlic-loving rival of Mario. Wario can add so much laughter to this movie with his gross and goofy personality.
Maybe he can be voiced by Jim Carrey!
-
Rosalina
Rosalina, known as Rosetta in Japan, is a major character in Nintendo's Mario franchise. She first appeared in the 2007 Wii game Super Mario Galaxy and later returned in its 2010 sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2. Since then, she has appeared in selected main-series Mario games and numerous spin-offs. Rosalina... read more
I really want to see Rosie in the Mario Movie, but I would not be surprised if she does not appear at all. Hearing the revealed cast with characters like Foreman Spike and Cranky Kong makes it seem like this movie is going to focus on the really old games like Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., and Wrecking Crew.
I would be very disappointed if the movie did not include later characters like Rosalina, Toadette, and Bowser Jr.
-
Toadette
Toadette is a character in the Mario series. She is a female Toad who first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube game Mario Kart: Double Dash!! in 2003. Since then, she has appeared in multiple Mario titles, often as a playable character.
Same with Rosalina, I really hope they include her and don't only include Mario characters that existed in the 1980s.
Kelly Marie Tran would be the perfect fit for this character.
-
Bowser Jr.
Bowser Jr., sometimes simply called Junior, is a video game character in Nintendo's Mario franchise. He is depicted as the son of Bowser, the primary antagonist of the series. Bowser Jr. first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine in 2002 and has since become a recurring character in both mainline and spin-off... read more
Bowser Jr. is Bowser's only child and is usually always beside his father, helping him kidnap Princess Peach. Is this movie going to go down the Mario Odyssey route and leave Bowser Junior out?

Waluigi is a tall, self-centered, and rough-around-the-edges character who is often portrayed as Luigi's rival. He frequently causes chaos in various Mario spinoff games, usually alongside Wario. Daisy is a great character and I hope she is voiced by Madelaine Petsch in the sequel.
-
Iggy Koopa
This item counts for all the Koopalings. Because they are seven separate characters, I was not allowed to put them in one spot. Unfortunately, I doubt the Koopalings are going to appear in the movie because Nintendo doesn't really care about them anymore since they have Bowser Jr.
But come on, it would be cool to see them along with Bowser Jr. This could be the time to develop their personalities even more.
-
King Boo
In the Super Mario series, King Boo is the leader of the Boos and a recurring antagonist. He is a large white Boo who wears a crown and has appeared alongside Bowser in conflicts with Mario and his friends.
In the Luigi's Mansion series, King Boo plays a more central role as Luigi's primary nemesis... read more
King Boo is honestly one of my favorites. As a heavyweight, he's a solid choice in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The way he sticks his tongue out for the victory lap is so goofy!
-

DRY BONES, man! Don't sleep on Dry Bones. While my OG homie Dry Bones may not be the best choice statistically, he looks epic. But yeah, he MAY not have the best stats. PLEASE upgrade Dry Bones to a better level of stats because, as a lightweight, he just doesn't work in MK8 DX.

Diddy Kong
Diddy Kong is a fictional character in the Donkey Kong Country video game series. He first appeared in the 1994 game Donkey Kong Country, developed by Rare and published by Nintendo. Diddy Kong is known as Donkey Kong's sidekick and is a playable character in several games.
Since Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong are confirmed to be appearing in the Mario Movie, why not Diddy Kong? They can even go crazy and add Funky and Dixie, but I doubt it.
He was in the movie for, like, one second.
