I hope the other Brits also have a sense of humour and wouldn't feel offended by my list because I made it for fun and didn't mean to offend anyone.

Why it's ironic when England isn't in the finals?
Because England was the country where most of the modern rules of soccer were created - the modern rules were based on the mid-19th century forms of football played in the public schools of England. But the history of football in England is much longer - it dates back to at least the 8th century AD.

LOL, so ironic: in the 2018 semi-finals England lost out to Croatia, a small country created in 1991. To quote Britgirl, "the country with a "T" in its name."
Croatia was in the 2018 finals - they lost out to France but it's still a great achievement: Croatia is now among the best soccer nations in the world.

Haha! Great list, MT. England winning the World Cup...it has been a while! Croatia...yes! Well done to them! There should be a lot if Croatian back-slapping and fixed grins going on right now, and rightfully so. They did really well.

England created metal in 1970. Seems they are better at Heavy Metal than at soccer. Attending an Iron Maiden live show might be more satisfying than attending a match of the National Football Team. And the guys from Iron Maiden are in their 60s.
