U.S. Cities With the Best SkylinesList of the best skylines in the USA! Quality over quantity.
The Top Ten
Iconic, the fact that Chicago is above NYC is a tragedy. Midtown Manhattan alone beats the entire Chicago skyline, not even including the financial district. Chicago has nowhere near as many world famous buildings as NYC. New York has the World Trade Center complex, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler building, Central Park Tower, the Steinway Building, 432 Park Avenue, the Bank of America Building, the UN Headquarters, Time Warner Center, the MANY Bridges that connect the boroughs, 53W53, One57, Rockefeller Center, and of course the newly constructed Hudson Yards buildings, which are almost a skyline of their own on the west side of Midtown. New York has the most iconic skyline in the entire world, a mecca of architecture that has mixed together over the years, and evolved time and time again while still maintaining the signature New York look. Nowhere compares. - Cadetickle
New York has multiple skylines and very many distinguished and recognizable buildings - the Freedom Tower, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Statue of Liberty, and to a lesser extent the MetLife building and the Rockefeller Center and 432 Park. The same can't be said for Chicago, which you can only view from one angle, and has the Willis Tower and maybe the Trump tower and that's really all - JustAnAccount
New York has multiple skylines that can be viewed dynamically in different ways with building icons - Freedom Tower, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Statue of Liberty, and to a lesser extent the MetLife Building, 432 Park Avenue, and the Rockefeller Center. Chicago has the Willis Tower and not much else. In sheer scale, New York wins as the most powerful skyline - JustAnAccount
Go down town to the space needle in Seattle the view is breathtaking
If you go by Lake Michigan, you can see all of the Chicago buildings lined up, what a beautiful display, especially at night.
It's hard to drive without gazing at this magnificent skyline
Chicago is #5 because yes they have a beautiful skyline but if you take the Willis Tower away, its not very eye opening.
I'm truly in love with the Chicago Skyline!
Seattle has won the #1 spot because of its great display of the iconic Space Needle and many more beautiful buildings to go with it.
If you like change your mind with changeable whether, Seattle is no one spot.
I love seattle born and raised the city is the best would not live anywhere else. Go Seahawks
Seattle is number 1
LOL Pittsburgh has a fine skyline but nothing like the skyline of the Greatest City on Earth...
Go down town seattle to the space needle the view is breathtaking
Seattle is the best city in the world. Go Seattle seahawks yes
Just a beautiful skyline.
Love you LA. Need at 1502' tower with a 499' decorative glass spire near pershing square, 1325' tower in southpark and a 1270' tower on. Bunker Hill - then Los Angeles awesome.
The mountains in the backdrop are amazing but the buildings are uninteresting and not aesthetically pleasing.
Los Angeles 2024 best US skyline
Its really underrated
Houston's Downtown/Uptown/Midtown give the city a dense urban feel and it's so pretty.
Best Texas skyline along with Austin. Could use another tower between 800 to 900 feet over near the Enron building.
Houston looks stunning if you drive on I-45 North or I-10 West.
I honestly think that this should be in the top 5. I mean with Lake Houston, the unique architecture, and the amount of skyscrapers, how could this city not make the list?
Dallas does not even close have the worlds besk skyline. Houston and Austin better. Also Philadelphia's skyline is taller, more historic and modern.
Dallas is ok. But now in 2019 it looks 70's and 80's. Need another tower 900 feet on the east side of skyline to balance better.
The best skyline in DFW but not the best in the US or world. There is LA, Shanghai, Houston, Hong Kong, Chicago, Toronto, anama City and others that beat Dallas.
Viewing Dallas from the West at night is very impressive with the booming uptown buildings.
This should be number one because of the mix of history and futuristic skyscrapers
Way Underrated. 1920's skyscrapers are unbelievable.
SEATTLE IS NUMBER ONE GO SEATTLE SEAHAWKS YES
There are few cities in the u.s. that can compare to Detroit's historic skyline. Thought to be 3rd in ranking for pre depression skyscrapers.
Beautiful city - Beautiful skyline - Best place to be in the summertime
Gorgeously modern, extremely well-balanced skyline.
Beautiful modern skyline and many things to do downtown.
Stunning modern looking skyline - almost all glass and each building is unique.
Philadelphia's mix of historic and contemporary architecture is incomparable, with sleek glass towers juxtaposed with masonry structures.
Yes...Philadelphia is currently building a "second" skyline on the other side of the Schuylkill River which will include two more super tall skyscrapers which will make Philly's skyline look even more spectacular than it already is.
With the comcast innovation and technology center nearing completion, and soon the 87-story transit terminal tower (2901 Arch Street) and the other skyscrapers of the Schuylkill Yards project, Philadelphia has one of the most perfect skylines in the US, with more improvements to come
Philadelphia has a tall and figured skyline. I live its location and density even-ness.
Miami has a fast growning skyline with a great beach location. Miami could be atop the list very soon.
I Believe that New York and Chicago are the Top dogs, but Miami is growing immensely and by 2020, we might have Miami as Number 2! In addition, New York will always be #1 and I'm thrilled for that because NY deserves it!
Miami is awesome
SEATTLE IS NUMBER ONE GO TO THE SPACE NEEDLE THE VIEW IS BREATHTAKING
Charlotte's skyline continues to grow; nowhere to go but up.
Beautiful skyline. Look at pics from 10 or 20 years ago to see how much it's changed
-Extremely dense and not scattered like Austin, Houston or Atlanta
-Impressive skyline for a city under 1million residents
-One of the fastest growing skylines in USA
-Clean & Modern
To bad it's Seattle is number one
San Fransico is a city of its own. The Transamerica Pyramid creates the skyline.
SF's skyline is underrated. The Transamerica Pyramid and the Golden Gate Bridge should put it in the top ten.
SEATTLE IS NUMBER ONE GO SEATTLE SEAHAWKS. GO TO THE SPACE NEEDLE THE VIEW IS BREATHTAKING
How could you not vote in a city with an architectural masterpiece such as the Gateway Arch onto the list?
Although the buildings don't have much to offer, the Arch makes it very unique
Go to Seattle unbelievable. The number one skylines
A city with a 630 ft tall monument! Come on now. St. Louis rocks!
Houston,Dallas has better downtowns
Very underrated. No skyline in the US has its uniqueness.Has that Atlantis look very similar to her name. I like the fact that the buildings are not all clustered together. You can actually enjoy all the buildings beautiful architecture rising up from all three distinct skylines, up through the trees.Atlanta hands down! Driving south on 85 is simply breathtaking, Metropolis! Charlotte native.
I find Atlanta skyline is beautiful and very inviting.. This skyline can easily be put in the Middle East.. And it looks as if it's turning while your driving through the city. In my book it's the best skyline of the dirty south.
All three of atlanta skylines makes it unique and beautiful.
A beautiful, new, shiny skyline rising out of a beautiful emerald forest!
Baltimore > New York
Not much to say but, a beautiful city with a beautiful skyline.
The skyline itself is nice enough but the mountains make it special. It deserves to be in the top ten.
The mountains are what makes this skyline great.
Republic Plaza, 1801 California, Wells Fargo Center (aka the Cash Register Building), Four Seasons, all backrounded by the great rocky mountains.
Great skyline with the Hancock Tower, the new Millenium Tower and the Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge. One International Place and the historic Custom House Tower are also great buildings.
The cylindrical buildings look like cigars - JustAnAccount
Boston is GORGEOUS!
From the lake you see the rock hall, futuristic science center, nice place, actually
Be far one of the most beautiful
It's Seattle wa sorry
Best view is from I-71 in KY
Bravo Austin. Ft Worth needs to learn from you. It's skyline is lagging for a city almost 1 million. Also Austin is giving Dallas a run for the money with the new skyscrapers planned.
Looks incredible at night, especially drunk 6th street nights!
SEATTLE WA MY HOME. GO SEATTLE SEAHAWKS YES. GO TO THE SPACE NEEDLE THE VIEW IS BREATHTAKING
Austin, my home. I'm saddened I have to put ATX at #8 but it is only because its is still growing. Fast. It is already beaustiful with the Austonian, 360 Condos, and Spring looking over Town Lake but there is so much going on in downtown, the city is going to change face by 2017. The Waller Center towers should be a new tallest for the city with no height restricions, and the 50 floor fairmont hotel will open eyes as Austin becomes Americas next major city.
Why is the city's baseball team on the list but the city isn't?
SEATTLE IS NUMBER ONE. SORRY
Most underrated skyline. Skyline travels from downtown to midtown Phoenix.
Let's get real the number one city ls Seattle wa
Doesn't even have skyscrapers! Plus forgot pheonix!
Right near a riverwalk with very many restaurants, huge skyscrapers, an aquarium, and a built in trolley and Amtrak Monorail station.
Fast growing skyline. Scenic mountains. View of temple
I think apart from augusta,Atlanta and macon shavannah probberly it's a skyline
Very good-looking skyline for a beautiful city. An overall attractive city a good place to live and raise a family!
There’s the Stratosphere, all the hotels, the Eiffel Tower and the High Roller ferris wheel... it’s really cool!
