Top 10 Best Durarara!! Characters

Ikebukuro isn't your average Tokyo neighborhood. You've got headless bikers weaving through traffic, informants stirring up chaos just for fun, and bartenders who hurl vending machines like they're playing catch. Welcome to Durarara!!, where the rules are as unstable as Shizuo's temper and the truth is as slippery as anything Izaya's ever said.

Every character in this series walks around with secrets stuffed in their pockets and at least three people watching their every move. Some manipulate from the shadows, others charge in fists first, and a few just want a normal life. In Durarara!!, that's about as likely as Celty getting her head back with a simple "excuse me."

This list is your chance to sort through the chaos. Vote for the characters you think steal the scene, spin the biggest lies, throw the best punches, or just make Ikebukuro the unforgettable mess it is. Your votes decide who rises to the top of this beautifully twisted story.

The Top Ten
  1. Izaya Orihara

Izaya... The kind of character you hate so much you start loving him. He proves that not all villains need outstanding physical strength. It is almost impossible to thwart his schemes because he can find a way to prevent you from doing so or use your actions to enable his plans. He is so annoying, but at the same time, he has quite a lot of charisma. The only thing that really annoys me about him is that HE TALKS TOO MUCH. In other anime, I have found characters with annoying personality traits, but I have never come across such a talkative character. My favorite characters in Durarara!! are Masaomi and Rokujo, but Izaya DEFINITELY deserves this #1 spot.

  2. Shizuo Heiwajima

Ahh - the handsome and cool blonde wearing a bartender's suit, designer glasses, and smoking some cigs: a total hot-headed guy throwing vending machines at his archenemy, "I-zaa-yaa!" Shizuo, the strongest man in Ikebukuro, has yet to show the kindness behind his intentions. He hates VIOLENCE even though he has sweet cravings and a brotherly attitude. Those cute expressions on his face when he's composed, and his anger that's so intense you can't handle it, make him an intriguing character. He's so cool yet so hot-headed! But everyone loves this guy, though. I love him!

It's always a blast when Shizuo enters the scene, especially when he gets pissed off like he always does. So I dunno, I feel I can relate to him to some degree, since there was a time when the slightest thing could piss me off as well.

Glad I grew out of it. That's where the part where I can relate ends, since no one on this entire planet could be as strong as he is.

  3. Celty Sturluson

Celty is a headless horseman who rides a motorcycle with no headlights. Need I say more?

I love her. She is amazing. If I could have her, I would. I'd go Shinra for her every time I look at the screen.

  4. Masaomi Kida

Out of all the amazing realistic characters in Durarara!!, I personally find Masaomi to be the most human and relatable. We've all tried to run from our past because we were scared and lacked faith in overcoming our guilt. Most try to cover up their past with the present, and so does Masaomi. The choices he makes and the feelings he has are realistic to the point where realism can't catch up. Besides, his dorky, awkward attempts to pick up girls are just hilarious. I laugh every time I see them.

Masaomi is so sick. At first encounter, he seems girl-obsessed, hilarious, and totally chill, but the more you get to know this character, the more you find out about his complex past that haunts him repeatedly.

To be honest, this character is definitely one of my favorites. And did anyone else notice how tough this guy is? Masaomi kind of reminds me of Tamaki from Ouran Highschool Host Club in a way as well.

  5. Kyohei Kadota

  6. Mikado Ryugamine

Damn, Mikado is just the best! I love crazy characters, and Mikado is one of the craziest! His thirst for the extraordinary and his hatred of the ordinary are just fantastic! I was almost sad that he decided to become an ordinary person by the end of it. Still, I'm hoping that he gets involved in Durarara!! SH even though he wasn't planning on it!

Honestly, Mikado should be higher up on the list. The timid, friendly kid we see at the beginning of the story makes him likable but plain. However, Mikado's goal of being extraordinary reveals his true personality. He's a complicated but great character in the series. I was a bit disappointed that in Durarara!! SH, he turned out more boring than he was at the beginning of the original series, though.

  7. Simon Brezhnev

"Shizuo! Are you finished with puberty?" Simon's a friendly guy and adorable when you think about it. He's a good fighter, and he was hilarious in the special episode.

"Our sushi is not made from human even on half-price day." This and many more quotes are the main reason why he's the best.

  8. Shinra Kishitani

Everybody calls this guy a pervert, but he only makes perverted jokes - unlike some characters *cough* Orihara Twins *cough*. He's also hilarious, and be honest here, you think the way he acts around Celty is sweet.

  9. Anri Sonohara

She's so cute and has a sad past. How could you not love her? (No spoilers if she actually isn't lovable.)

  10. Shingen Kishitani

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Kasane Kujiragi

  13. ?

    Ran Izumii

  14. The Contenders
  15. Saburo Togusa

  16. Erika Karisawa

She's such an otaku, and I love her so much. I also like the fact she is a Shizaya shipper. How many times do you see a character ship other characters?

She's cute, and I love her interactions with Walker.

If she were real and I knew her, we would totally be besties.

She is also a quality waifu.

  17. Mizuki Akabayashi

That man has class! He looks scary and really is, but he's also nice. Although he's a yakuza, I think Akabayashi's a good person. He has his own code and takes care of the people dear to him. Let's have him closer to the top 10!

  18. Chikage Rokujo

He's so nice to the ladies and a surprisingly strong and resilient fighter. He deserves more love!

  19. Saki Mikajima

She is just amazing. She has her weaknesses and can be naive sometimes, but I think we need at least one character like that in the series.

  20. Walker Yumasaki

Just for the burning van scene alone, he's awesome.

He's an awesome character who uses a flamethrower as a fire extinguisher.

  21. Aoba Kuronuma

I feel really bad for what happened in his past.

  22. Vorona Yegorovna

  23. Mairu Orihara

He has no emotion, but he still cares about his brother, and his smile is the same no matter what. He would be the best at poker. Who would not like him?

  24. Kururi Orihara

  25. Namie Yagiri

  26. Ruri Hijiribe

  27. Kasuka Heiwajima

  28. Tom Tanaka

  29. Haruya Shiki
