When it comes to Ouran High School Host Club, fans know there's no shortage of standout personalities, each bringing their unique twist to the story. This charming anime is all about a high school club where members specialize in giving their classmates over-the-top host experiences - each character has their own style, quirks, and reasons for being part of the club. Some characters are totally lovable from the start, while others grow on you as you get to know them better through their quirks, loyalty, or hidden layers.
Hikaru is one of the mischievous twin brothers in the Host Club, known for his playful and occasionally mean-spirited sense of humor. He has a close, often complicated, bond with his twin Kaoru, which is explored throughout the series. Honestly, I don't know why I think this so much, but Hikaru is so cute! His looks, personality, everything about him is just amazing! It's obvious that he has a lot of troubles and has dealt with a lot, but he is very loyal to Kaoru and to his friends.
He also really cares for Haruhi, which I LOVE, and it really builds his character. It's a shame that at the end of season one and in the manga Haruhi picked Tamaki, but whatever, it was fate from the beginning. If there is a season 2, I certainly want more of his own screen time without him and Kaoru always being together.
Tamaki Suoh is the charismatic and dramatic founder of the Ouran High School Host Club, often referred to as the "King" by other club members. Half-French and half-Japanese, Tamaki is known for his affectionate personality and exaggerated romantic gestures. After all he's been through, Tamaki still has the strength to smile and make others happy. He brought together the entire Host Club by himself, bringing light into every member's life. All of these characters were hurting before he came to help them, and his incredible healing heart succeeded.
I am always amazed and inspired by Tamaki's love for everyone around him and his strength, especially after losing the rights to see his mother.
He comes off as arrogant and self-centered, but he really is the most caring club member. Without him, there would be no Host Club. He befriends all the members easily and teaches them to accept their differences.
He genuinely cares about the girls he hosts for and sees the beauty in everyone. Overall, he's just a lovable dork. I absolutely love him.
Haruhi is a scholarship student at Ouran Academy who joins the Host Club after accidentally breaking an expensive vase. Though initially mistaken for a boy, she becomes a valuable member of the club with her unique, down-to-earth charm and empathy. Haruhi at first seems like a fairly emotionless, apathetic person. However, as the story goes on, it reveals that she is, in fact, very hardworking and kind, yet isn't afraid to be straightforward and share her honest opinion. She doesn't sugarcoat anything she says.
She's strong, and she can stand up for herself and occasionally for others. Also, she's confident in her abilities and doesn't fret over her looks, which, in my opinion, makes her a very unique anime character. She's one of the best anime protagonists that I've seen so far.
Kyoya Ootori is the practical and calculating vice-president of the Host Club, often handling finances and logistics behind the scenes. He is the third son of a wealthy family, known for his intelligence and strategic approach to managing the club's affairs. Kyoya is my favorite anime character. I simply love his genius and love how he's so Slytherin! I, myself, am Slytherin and appreciate how he captures the ambiance of characters such as this. If I could only use one word to describe him, I would use genius.
Kyoya is pretty cool in my opinion. He may seem pretty cold, but really he can be nice to some people. Check out the episode Kyoya's Reluctant Day Out if you don't believe me.
The moment I saw this show, he was the first one who caught my eye. I love how he is just honest and such a Slytherin, to be honest. I literally love Kyoya. He is awesome!
Kaoru, the younger of the Hitachiin twins, shares a close bond with his brother Hikaru and often participates in the "forbidden brotherly love" act for the Host Club. He is generally more sensitive and thoughtful, serving as a balancing influence on his brother. A hot and mischievous rich boy, but also sensitive and caring for the ones he loves and keeps close. He is selfless, but also understands it's fine to love yourself too. Tbh, I have a thing for troublesome redheads. He and Hikaru have a hard past, knowing the only one they liked eventually betrayed them. It is difficult for him to get close to anyone apart from his twin.
He may have been rude and selfish to others in middle school, but knowing he acted like that and changed into this wonderful new person probably took a lot of guts and hard work. He knows how to have fun, and when you get to know him, he is probably one of my favorite anime characters out there.
Even though he is afraid to lose Hikaru, something tells me that he will be fine and he will have someone else to take care of him. The only faults I have with him are following what Hikaru does too much, and because he is wealthy, he is arrogant towards some ways of the so-called "commoner," but you can't go wrong with commoner coffee!
Takashi Morinozuka, often called "Mori," is Honey's quiet and loyal cousin who serves as both his friend and protector. Known for his calm demeanor, Mori rarely speaks but is deeply attentive to those he cares about. He's a tall, soft-spoken guy. Incredibly loyal and cute as well! I don't like Honey very much, but Mori is the best character.
While I do enjoy my homo twin pair, the way Mori is always so quiet and stone-faced is cute because you see his emotions all poured out into his actions, showing how caring he is.
Takashi is the most loyal of the hosts. No matter what, he will never leave Honey's side and will always take care of him. Even though he is a man of few words, he has a big heart!
He should be higher up on this list. He's hot, tall, and strong.
I don't know why, but I think Nekozawa is a really good character.
The first time I saw her, she was a Kyoya fangirl, and I appreciate that. She's hilarious!

I love her so much! She's really smart, and I love her secret crush on Tamaki. Personally, I ship her with Kyoya.
