Top Ten NFL Teams Most Likely to Make the Playoffs in the 2020 Season

The playoffs in the NFL have recently expanded from 12 to 14 teams, meaning it will be easier to make the playoffs. With that being said however, the elite teams have even easier paths to the promised land. With seven seeds in each conference, anything can happen. Even a whole division can make the playoffs (if that were to happen, it would most likely be the NFC West). Here, we are looking at the top ten NFL teams most likely to make the playoffs in the 2020 season.
The voting period for this list has ended.
The Top Ten
1 Kansas City Chiefs The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's American Football Conference West division.

The reigning Super Bowl champions are pretty much guaranteed a playoff berth in 2020. Their roster basically stayed the same during the offseason, not losing many key players. In fact, they improved, drafting Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the first round to pair with the solid Damien Williams. Can this Chiefs team be stopped is the real question. The 49ers couldn't do it. The AFC West around them spent the offseason loading up on offensive weapons rather than defense, which means they are trying to stop the Chiefs with offense rather than defense. Still, those teams remain fairly weak, and the Chiefs have a clear path to the AFC West title, a playoff bye, and even a Super Bowl berth. We will see how far Patrick Mahomes can get them this season.

2 Baltimore Ravens The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ravens compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference North division.

After a disappointing Divisional Round exit after a 14-2 season in 2019, the Ravens only improved their roster. The offense is as loaded as ever with Lamar Jackson, and the defense has no notable holes anymore, after they drafted Patrick Queen in the first round. This team is great in the regular season, but the only question is if they can win in the postseason.

Calais Campbell was the last piece they needed to make a championship run

3 New Orleans Saints The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference South division.

The Saints are going into this year in win-now mode. Drew Brees is playing his last season before retirement, and if he wants to go off into retirement with a Super Bowl win like Peyton Manning did, then he has work to do in the playoffs. The last three seasons, the Saints have been amazing in the regular season, but fell apart at some point in the playoffs. They lost on a last second miracle play in the Divisional Round to the Vikings in 2017, in overtime of the NFC Championship Game to the Rams in 2018, and in overtime of the Wild Card Round to the Vikings yet again in 2019. They can't seem to win the big games, which is an issue if they want to win the Super Bowl with what they have left of Drew Brees.

4 San Francisco 49ers The San Francisco 49ers are a professional American football team located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Super Bowl runner-ups had some work to do in the offseason to get to a point where they can beat the Chiefs. Even their NFL-best defense couldn't stop the Chiefs dynamic offense. Did the team get better in the offseason? I would say they stayed the same. They used both of their first round picks on Javon Kinlaw and Brandon Aiyuk to replace DeForest Buckner and Emmanuel Sanders respectively. This 49ers team will still contend in 2020, and are the NFC's team to beat.

5 Tennessee Titans The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference South division.

Somehow, the Titans made their way into the playoffs at 9-7, and ended up handing the Patriots a playoff loss in the Wild Card Round, dominating the Ravens in the Divisional Round, before finally running into the juggernaut Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. What last season told us is the Titans are definitely a contender. They resurrected Ryan Tannehill's career and he now looks to be their quarterback for at least the next four years. Derrick Henry is the motor of the team's offense, while they defense is good as well. They should be the favorites to win the AFC South in 2020.

6 Green Bay Packers The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference North division. The Packers have won 4 Super Bowls and 13 NFL championships.

The Packers once again came a game short of the Super Bowl in 2019. After a 13-3 season with a new head coach, they lost by a lot to the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. It was Aaron Rodgers' third loss in the game before the big game. An issue the Packers have had over the years is that they have been the runner-up to the NFC title for so long, with the same thing happening in 2014 and 2016 as well. Their offseason was a big one, as they drafted Jordan Love in the first round, and he will probably sit behind Aaron Rodgers for a few years. The Packers need to get back to the Super Bowl within a few years before Love takes over for Rodgers. They didn't get worse in the offseason contrary to what every analyst is saying, and we won't know if they got better until they play a game. The Packers have the ability to make the playoffs.

7 Buffalo Bills The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area that competes in the National Football League. Buffalo Bills had the longest playoff drought of any team which came to an end in 2017.

Look out for the Bills as a playoff contender in the now wide-open AFC East. The team lost in the Wild Card Round in 2019, but it was a close game. Now, during the offseason, they got better on both sides of the ball. Drafting A.J. Epenesa in the second round provides an edge rusher for an already elite defense. Josh Allen may also be ready to take a third year leap. I think they will win the AFC East this season.

Bills going to take it to the house! Win that Super Bowl and show that the Bills should be taken seriously. They are still in it with 18 teams left.

8 Indianapolis Colts The Indianapolis Colts are an American football team based in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Colts compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference South division.

10-4 and at #12. Really! How the hell can the Cowboys be ahead of the Colts.

9 Dallas Cowboys The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference East division.
10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football franchise based in Tampa, Florida. The Buccaneers currently compete in the National Football League as a member team of the National Football Conference South division.

The Buccaneers are like the Browns last year, incredibly hyped after a great offseason. The Browns ended up falling down, but a similar fate can be avoided by the Buccaneers. Their Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski led offense can dominate opposing teams this season, and their defense is also looking to be better. They are in the midst of a three-team race in the NFC South between the Saints and Falcons. Who would have guessed that one day, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan would all be fighting for the NFC South crown?

The Contenders
11 Pittsburgh Steelers The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that competes in the National Football League. Pittsburgh Steelers have won the most Super Bowls with 6 which currently stands today.

I think that the Steelers have a good chance to sneak in as the wildcard team next year.

10-0 baby! clearly nobody saw it coming. They got Big Ben back though, so they finally have a QB that does not suck.

12 Minnesota Vikings The Minnesota Vikings are an American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season.

The Vikings made the playoffs in 2019 and made it as far as the Divisional Round after beating the Saints. After a not-so-great free agency, the rebounded in the draft, getting their Stefon Diggs and Xavier Rhodes replacements in Justin Jefferson and Jeff Gladney respectively. They really had one of the NFL's best drafts, and that could make them contenders to not only win the NFC North, but winning the Super Bowl as well.

The Vikings can kiss their chances good bye. They are eliminated.

13 Cleveland Browns The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Browns compete in the National Football League as a member team of the American Football Conference North division... read more

Made it, lost to chiefs after a good run.

14 Seattle Seahawks The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football franchise based in Seattle, Washington. The Seahawks compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference West division.

The Seahawks didn't have a great offseason. I even feel like they have regressed a little bit. Drafting Jordyn Brooks in the first round was their third first round reach in a row, following Rashaad Penny in 2018 and L.J. Collier in 2019. While they don't look better, they can still contend. After all, a lot of people said they wouldn't make the playoffs in 2019, and they ended up getting all the way to the Divisional Round, beating the Eagles in the game. Also, any team led by Russell Wilson has a chance. They are in a tough division, but they can still go far.

15 Houston Texans The Houston Texans are a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The team competes in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference South division.

Dude, this team losses 66% of their games.

16 Philadelphia Eagles The Philadelphia Eagles are a professional football franchise based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Eagles compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference East division.
17 New England Patriots The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston region. New England Patriots are one of the few teams to have 5+ wins in the Super Bowl.
18 Denver Broncos The Denver Broncos are an American football team based in Denver, Colorado. The Broncos compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's American Football Conference West division.
19 Washington Football Team The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

20 Atlanta Falcons The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football team based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Falcons compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference South division.

22 Los Angeles Rams The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Why is everyone underestimating the Rams this year? They had a winning record last season and will probably make the playoffs.

23 New York Jets The New York Jets are a professional American football team located in the New York metropolitan area.

They could not win if their lives depended on it.

24 Chicago Bears The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team in Chicago, Illinois. The Bears compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league's National Football Conference North division.

The Bears are going to make it to the playoffs after a disapointing season. They will again have the leagues best defense, and will be a #2 seed.

They made it as the last wild card, but could not pass a good saints team.

25 Jacksonville Jaguars The Jacksonville Jaguars are an American professional football franchise based in Jacksonville, Florida.
