Top 10 Most Surprising NFL Teams of Week 8 (2019)

As we conclude October, we reach approximately the halfway point of the season. There were a few surprising results, but as in prior weeks, there were once again quite a few blowouts. Here's what I believe were the most shocking results.

The Top Ten
  1. Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia, you needed that win badly. Nice to see you actually show up after a week of facing criticism. Honestly, everyone was firing on all cylinders in this one. See, guys? This is what you're capable of. Keep it up, and you might get a wild card.

  2. Indianapolis Colts

Okay, guys, what was that? When you have to rely on Adam Vinatieri, who's been inaccurate, you know you played down to your competition. I was expecting a higher-scoring game, especially with the momentum they had going.

  3. Buffalo Bills

Now it's Buffalo's turn to face the media. After a relatively easy schedule, it's time for them to prove themselves. They did not. Philly dominated, as Buffalo couldn't really get anything going, even with a strong defense. This game left a lot to be desired from the Bills.

  4. San Francisco 49ers

What was expected to be a close game was anything but close. San Francisco dominated the Panthers and once again silenced the doubters. A very convincing win for a scary-looking Niners team.

The main stars in this one? Tevin Coleman and Nick Bosa. They absolutely haunted Kyle Allen, but at least he didn't see ghosts.

  5. Houston Texans

This was a game I wasn't expecting to be close. Instead, Watson had a clutch moment in this game, throwing a touchdown after taking a cleat to his face. Houston survives, even though they lost J.J. Watt in the process. Closer than I expected, but Watson may have just bolstered his MVP case.

  6. Carolina Panthers

Well, guys, what was that? You couldn't stop Coleman, and Kyle Allen threw 3 interceptions. And you better be glad y'all have Christian McCaffrey, or else you would've been shut out.

  7. Oakland Raiders

Derek Carr arguably had his best performance yet. Sure, they lost because Deshaun Watson was a god, but Jacobs and Williams were productive on offense, and there's a lot to like here. There just are no big names for Oakland to rely on.

  8. Chicago Bears

Bears, you guys are pathetic. Two teams were playing sluggishly, and you lose on another missed kick? Seems familiar, am I right? Anyway, Trubisky is looking worse and worse. What a waste of a defense.

  9. New Orleans Saints

Well, Drew Brees is back. I know they played the Cardinals, but they make the list because of the way he played. Several were questioning his decision, but he balled out as the Saints thrashed the Cardinals.

  10. Detroit Lions

A pretty decent game for Detroit, as Stafford led the Lions to a good win. The thing is, are they for real? They have potential, but they are the Lions. How are they gonna Lion this year?

  11. The Contenders
  12. Atlanta Falcons
