Top 10 Things that are Beautiful and Scary

In life, there are many beautiful things us humans are able to witness or feel, but many of these things are also scary.

The Top Ten
  1. Space

The first time any astronaut goes into space, it must be so scary. If anything goes wrong, you're a goner. Seeing the Earth from up there must be beautiful though.

While outer space is fascinating to learn about, being out there all by yourself can be pretty terrifying.

Space is fascinating and incredible in so many beautiful ways. It's also extremely terrifying.

  2. Lightning

Seeing lightning bolts in the sky is very pretty. If you've ever seen some of the pictures photographers have taken of lightning storms, you'll know. While they do look pretty, believe me, hearing that thunder hit can feel very scary.

Lightning is definitely one of the most beautiful things ever.

  3. Wild Animals

The wildlife on Earth is one of nature's most beautiful sights. While animals are beautiful creatures, they also kill each other. Of course, this is not a horrible thing, as predators have to eat their prey to survive - it's how life works. However, many predators are scary. If your favorite animal is a bear, I guarantee you wouldn't want to come across one while taking a walk in the woods.

  4. The Ocean

Looking at the ocean can feel calming, but when there's a storm, it's the complete opposite. If you've seen shark movies like Jaws, just being on a boat can feel scary knowing all the creatures living right underneath you.

Should you ever go exploring underwater, you'll see some amazing animals. But if you're worried about meeting any dangerous ones, the ones you'll most likely want to avoid are sharks, barracudas, and eels.

It looks peaceful, but there are also scary animals living beneath the surface.

  5. Rivers

The scariest thing about them is that some of them can lead you to the top of a waterfall.

  6. Tornadoes

Tornadoes are one of the scariest and most dangerous natural disasters on Earth, but many photographers have been able to capture beautiful pictures of tornadoes.

  7. Fire

Fire can be a destructive force, but it can also look beautiful. For example, sitting next to a campfire is relaxing, and you often can't help but stare at the flames.

  8. Volcanoes

Seeing pictures or videos of an erupting volcano, let's say in a documentary, seeing all the fire and lava come out of a volcano looks beautiful. But at the same time, it's scary when you think of all the damage eruptions can cause.

The city I live in (well, sort of) was pretty much built on land from erupting volcanoes. They are dormant for now, but that could change.

  9. Love

Love is a beautiful thing, but at the same time, it's very scary as you never know what will happen. You do get a lot of memories from it, hopefully good ones. It's not just scary in romantic relationships. It can be scary with family members. Maybe someone in your family has lost their way or has issues in their lives, and it can feel scary.

It can either bring people together or make them kill each other.

  10. Acrobatics

I love acrobatics, but sometimes it's terrifying. When watching this sport, you hope things will go well.

  15. Dreams

In my opinion, one of the most terrifying yet incredible things in the world. Every night, the knowledge that whether I dream of magical, happy lands or terrifying, bloody deaths is completely out of my control sends shivers down my spine. A nightmare is a horrible, horrible thing.

True. I've had dreams where I just explore beautiful and odd places, funny dreams with talking inanimate objects and fictional characters coming out of nowhere, and a few dreams where I was in a near-death situation (crushed by a garage door, falling into a lava pit, in a building under attack by aliens, etc.).

  16. Mountains

From afar, mountains look very beautiful with their many rock formations and snowy peaks. However, if you ever have to climb one, you'll likely find them less beautiful and more terrifying. Let's not forget that in certain parts of the world, many people have died in avalanches, killed by tons of snow that came right off those mountains.

  17. Forests

There's nothing quite as beautiful as Mother Nature. While forests look beautiful, they are filled with dangerous animals and poisonous plants, depending on which part of the world you live in.

  18. Humans

Humans (Homo sapiens) are the most abundant and widespread species of primate, characterized by habitual bipedalism and comparatively large, complex brains. These traits have enabled the development of advanced tools, culture, and language. Humans are highly social and live in complex structures, ranging... read more
